Chapter 109 First Reward Received
Chapter 109 First Reward Received
Everyone is different when it comes to getting or giving gifts, and in the case of Glacia, Aoni 100% knew, without a shadow of a doubt, how she would react; however, Nyria...was a different case altogether.
There was no telling when the last time she had something that could be called her own, and even without that knowledge, the lingering feelings were no doubt still present in the young fledgling psyche.
Because of this, the Lad stood awkwardly by the nest after placing it down. The way he saw it, she would likely be too stunned to react or straight-up confused at the act of getting a gift.
That was why he'd originally called it a reward instead of something like a present because a reward is EARNED, and if Aoni needed to use some sophistry to ease the mind of his newest summon, so be it.
There were many potential outcomes for what would happen when Nyria opened her eyes and spotted her nest, but Aoni wasn't quite sure what to do with himself.
The best he could think of was to either be ready to rush forward and comfort his fledgling in the event that she had a mental breakdown or brace for impact since it was evident that Nyria, just like Glacia, had already developed a habit of tackling him. As her eyelids slowly slid up, revealing her gemlike eyes, the Lad knew then and there that his decision to gift her something was the right decision.
Tink....tink....tink...
'N...est...my...nest...mine...' Blinking rapidly as the object entered her vision, Nyria's eyes shed crystalline ice tears which shattered on the ground the moment they came in contact, as a mixture of sadness, happiness, and bewilderment could be traced in her tone.
---
For several minutes, Nyria poured out her heart. If she hadn't spent the last day and a half sleeping already, Aoni could have seen her falling asleep; luckily, that wasn't the case, and after getting everything off her chest and having the Lad constantly reassuring her, Nyria finally turned her attention toward her new nest.
"So, I didn't know if you'd want to decorate it or anything like that with little trinkets, but I left you plenty of places to do so, and if it's too stiff or not fluffy enough, let me know, and I can do some touch ups for you." Sitting on the floor beside Nyria as she happily walked around the nest in a giant circle, examining every square inch of it, Aoni narrated his thoughts on the crafting process along with any changes.
As he did so, Nyria finally gathered up her courage and, with a soft flap of her wings, hopped over the wall and shimmied around the center of the nest.
'It's perfect,' flashing the equivalent of a smile with her eyes; Aoni could hear the happiness in those two words and propped his chin on his hand, which was resting on his knee.
'It's just the right size. I can move around freely, and you made the walls just the right height and style.' Bobbing her head up and down like a cockatoo, Nyria was truly happy.
'But brother, I have a question.' Pausing her happy dance, Nyria tilted her head and looked over at her lord from behind the nest's barrier.
"What's up?' Aoni responded, unsure of what she would say next.
'With how big my nest is, how is it going to fit in the room with yours and big sisters' beds?' Piecing together what she had been told earlier and surmising that Aoni had made a bed for Glacia as well, she posed an interesting dilemma, as it was very clear at that moment that she didn't want to sleep apart from him or the floof.
"Mmmm, that's actually a really good question," lifting his head off his hand, Aoni spun around on his butt and looked toward the wall hiding his bed and the sleeping Glacia.
