Chapter 1-3, The first Battle( switching to first persn perspective right now)
The ground trembled beneath their feet, and a bone-chilling roar filled the air.
It wasn't just the noise that rattled the villagers—it was the sheer intensity of it, as though the very earth itself was being shaken by a force far greater than any ordinary creature.
My eyes widened as the massive shape of the beast emerged from the dark trees at the edge of the village.
It was unlike anything he’d ever seen in a game, yet its primal menace felt all too real.
The creature was enormous, its scales like jagged armor, glistening black and green under the moonlight.
Its body was hunched, its muscles bulging with raw strength. Sharp claws scraped against the earth as it lumbered forward, and two glowing red eyes locked onto the village.
Its mouth was full of sharp, yellow teeth, some of them longer than my forearm, dripping with saliva.
The beast was a hybrid of lizard and tiger—long, sinewy limbs, and a tail that whipped the ground like a whip, sending dirt and stones flying in all directions. Its roar echoed again, a sound that seemed to rip through the night, sending a wave of panic through the village.
People screamed, scrambling for shelter, hiding behind whatever they could. Women and children ran for the safety of nearby houses, while some of the villagers who were armed grabbed their weapons, but most looked completely unprepared.
"Everyone, get to safety!" the chief shouted, raising his staff in the air, but his voice was drowned by the chaos.
I was frozen for a moment, trying to process the nightmare unfolding in front of me. Just then, the youth who had led us here, dashed up to me.
"Here, use this!" The youth threw something towards him with swift precision.
I instinctively reached out and caught the sword in midair. My grip tightened around it as the weight of the weapon settled in my hands.
"Hey, watch it!" I exclaimed, glancing at him, who only nodded in acknowledgment.
The beast staggered, its movements slowing, blood seeping from the wound.
This is it, Shad thought. With one final burst of strength, he jabbed the sword forward once more, aiming for the creature’s heart. The blade pierced deep into its chest, and the beast let out a guttural roar as it collapsed, its massive form hitting the ground with a heavy thud.
The silence that followed felt surreal, the only sound the gentle rustling of the leaves in the wind. Shad stood over the fallen beast, panting heavily, his body trembling with the aftermath of the battle.
“Well, that was quite a battle,” an elder said, stepping forward from the group around the table. “Do you have any more doubts about being a hero?”
Shad looked at the elder, still catching his breath, but a small smile tugged at his lips. "Guess not," he said, glancing down at the sword. It felt like it had belonged to him all along.
By instinct, Shad raised the sword once more and pointed it at the air in front of him. "By the way, I got this skill called [Stab] during the battle. Let me show you!" he called, before thrusting the sword forward dramatically.
A flash of light accompanied the motion, and the [Stab] skill activated again, causing the air to hum with energy. The blade shimmered, sending a wave of power through his arm as he performed the move.
"Be careful with that thing!" the youth, Jaras, warned, stepping back quickly. His expression was a mixture of amusement and concern.
Shad chuckled, lowering the blade. "Says the guy who threw it." He grinned, wiping a bit of sweat from his forehead.
"My name is Jaras," the youth introduced himself, offering a friendly nod. "Nice to meet you."
“Shad,” he replied, shaking his hand firmly.
Jaras smiled. "We appreciate your help, heroes. But now, please rest up. There's a long journey ahead of you."
The battle had been fierce, but it felt like only the beginning. Shad could feel the weight of what was to come, but for now, he was content to catch his breath—and maybe learn a bit more about his new powers along the way.
