Chapter 1-4 Sundew Village
Chapter 1-4 Sundew Village
"Arrrrgh...." I sat up from my bed, yawning.
I glanced at the window.
The sun is shining brightly in the cloudless sky, casting a warm, yellow hue on the wooden floor.@@@@
"Hey, Shad." A voice said.
I jumped, then turned around, and saw Tabby smiling at me.
"Right. Wasn't a dream."
"I didn't expect the "mighty warrior" to sleep till noon." Tabby said with sarcasm.
"I was completely wrung out from that fight last night. I've actually never fought before, and I'm still getting used to it. Speaking of which, weren't you the one who's sleeping sound when I arrived last night?"
Just as we were about to continue, a gentle knock interrupted us.
I answered the door, and saw Jaras waiting.
"I see you're up. It's time to show you around our humble village, and I will be your tour guide!" he said.
"Now what are you waiting for? Come along!"
=***=
We walked out of our cottage, and followed his lead.
“Welcome to Sundew Village,” he said, as we made their way through the rustic village, walking down a path lined with simple wooden houses, each with a thatched roof.
The village looked peaceful, almost too peaceful for the type of adventure Shad had imagined. But the more he walked, the more real the situation felt.
The village felt ancient yet strangely familiar, as if it had been pulled straight from a fantasy tale.
People here went about their daily tasks, oblivious to the new arrivals, except for a few who gave curious glances.
It was easy to feel like we had just stepped into a whole new world.

"...and this, is Cathy's Potion Shop. You can find all kinds of potions in there. Healing potions, Mana potions, Antidote, you name it!"
I took a closer look at the shop. Through the window, I can see a huge variety of potions, sorted by colors, and lined up neatly on the wooden shelves.
There is also a woman in purple trimmed black robes working with a cauldron, muttering something. That must be Cathy, I supposed.
And we followed Jaras further down the path, passing the Golden Wheat Field, their source of food, the village park, where a few childrens are having fun, chasing butterflies.
"Wow, you sundew people really love black clothes." I said.
"It's our trandition! With different ranking, comes different robes, mostly differs by the color of trims.
"I chose Mage! I will be helping Shad behind, while I keep some distance with the beasts. I don't want to be this....." Tabby said, looking at me while pretending to be disgusted. "...savage."
"Hey, what's that supposed to mean?" I responded.
"It means you should take a bath." She chuckled.
"Your classes also aligns with the Prophecy," Jaras said with a cryptic expression.
"It speaks of 4 mighty warriors, two of whom will rise in Sundew. They will take down the 3 bosses in the three corners of our world, The forest, The Volcano, The canyon. Each boss holds a crystal key, and once the three keys are united, and presented in front of the Golden Gate, it will make way, and the only passage to the Castle of despair will be unlocked. That's where the evil overlord who took over our world, Voidras, resides."
At the mention of the name Voidras, the temperature dropped a few degrees, and he shuddered.
"Don't worry, we'll take him down in no time!" I said with great confidence, holding my trusty sword high in the sky.
"I'm sure you will. But now, please take these..." he said, as he takes two leather pouches, each around the size of fist, out of the pouch, and handed them to us.
"These are what we called, Inventories. Don't underestimate this bag---you'll be surprised that it can hold way more than it looks-- and the food inside never goes bad. Take a look yourself!"
I opened the bag and took a look, and was surprised to found a few bottles of Healing Potions, a few days of rations, and a few more piles of assorted items inside, while the pouch is barely heavier than an apple. Tabby's pouch also holds an additional Oak staff and a manual called Basic Spells for Beginners.
"Whoa, that's cool." I said, stashing my sword and my half eaten bun inside, saving it for later.
"What's this? Is this some sort of snacks?" Tabby asked, as she took a small yellow crystal from her Inventory, and tilted her head.
"Whatever it is, I'm pretty sure it's not food." I said, rolling my eyes.
"Actually, this is a Communication Crystal, it allows you to communicate with each other, no matter where you are. When you want to reach for someone, hold your crystal in front of your mouth, and think of his name. If he also carries a crystal or there is one near him, both crystals will light up. Then, say what you want to the crystal, and he will hear what you say. It works just like...... Um, let's just say it's a magical way of communication. I have put one in both your inventories." Jaras explained.
"Oh, so it's like a magical cellphone?" I asked.
"What's a cellphone?" Jaras and Tabby looked in confusion.
I sighed. "Forget it."
"For now, go and prepare. The first place you should visit next is Jade village, which is located inside the Forest of Whispers, and thus I believed they know more about the first boss. The village is near the Azura like, the largest lake in this world. To reach the village, just go west through the Forest of Whispers, and follow the forest trial. But beware-- there might be monsters lurking amidst the shadows..." Jaras suggested.
"We are already well prepared, isn't it, Tabby?"
"I'm ready to take on the world! When are we going there?" She yelled, and licked her lips.
"You're not thinking about that lake, are you, Tabs? It's not a fishing trip!" I said.
"How'd you guessed? Oh, and call me Tabby."
I rolled my eyes.
"Well, the sooner you get started, the sooner you can fulfill your destiny. But don't exert yourself. Nothing is weaker than a sleepy warrior."
"Now, let's go to the Forest! Follow my lead!"
