Chapter 435: So Stupid
Chapter 435: So Stupid
Late at night, Lucci sat in a corner of the Moby Dick where almost no one passed by, staring quietly at the dark sea. When he heard the sound of light footsteps, Lucci frowned, then closed his eyes and relaxed.
Sabo frowned as he watched Lucci sitting alone at the stern with his eyes closed. Sabo approached and asked, "Lucci, why are you sitting here alone? Where's Ace?"
Hearing Sabo's question, Lucci opened his eyes, stared at the sea, and said with a smile, "Even if we are often together, sometimes we need some time alone."
"Are you okay?" Sabo stared at Lucci's profile seriously, but under his gaze, Lucci still didn't turn around to look at him, and he couldn't help but frowned.
"I'm fine, don't worry." Lucci said with a smile "Is Luffy asleep?"
"Well, after you left this afternoon, Luffy said he wanted to defeat you." Sabo said with a smile, "He said that if he defeated you, he could prove his strength to you, and you wouldn't worry about him anymore."
"Really? That's good. It's good to become stronger towards your goal, but don't tell him to worry." Lucci lowered his eyes and said with a smile.
"What I said this afternoon was serious. Luffy was right. I was too worried. I won't do that again. But I don't want to join Luffy's pirate group anymore."
"Are you serious about what you said?" Sabo stared at Lucci's profile, and the smile at the corner of his mouth made him feel a little annoying.
"Of course. Am I not serious enough?" Lucci scratched his hair and grinned. "I think I am very serious."
Sabo frowned and looked at Lucci who said this with a smile. From the quarrel in the afternoon, it can be seen how much Lucci cares about Luffy. He didn't even say he was giving up in the face of Luffy's pleading eyes, but now he acted as if it was very relaxed.
If giving up was so easy, Lucci wouldn't have remained silent in the beginning. He couldn't even deceive people temporarily, but now he said in such a relaxed tone that he wanted to let go of the worry. How could it be true? He was just suppressing all his emotions deep in his heart.
He really wanted to grab his brother's shoulders and shake him hard, to stop him from laughing, to tell him how ugly his laugh was. If it was Ace standing here, he might have done that, but now it was Sabo standing here, so he wouldn't, but he knew he needed to do something.
He could feel the frustration and melancholy emanating from his brother, and even though he tried to hide it with a smile, there was no way he could hide it from his brother, especially when Lucci didn't even dare to turn around to face him.
Sabo finally sighed softly and sat down close to Lucci. He then said softly, "Don't pay attention to what Luffy said this afternoon. You know, just like when we were little, Luffy always wanted to tell us that he was a strong, capable brother who could be relied on."
"Yeah, I know." Lucci lowered his eyes and chuckled, "But he really has grown up."
"Yes, he is now a powerful captain with a ship that can go anywhere he wants and a crew that relies on him." Sabo said softly while carefully observing Lucci's expression, noticing that there was nothing unusual, so he continued.
"But we are his older brothers. No matter where he is in the ocean, he will always have our support behind him. So no matter what Luffy encounters in the future, he will definitely persevere and keep moving forward. He will never fall into an unsolvable predicament."
Lucci was silent for a long time, then turned and looked at Sabo. "Sabo, has anyone ever told you that you are good at comforting people?"
"No, it didn't." Sabo couldn't help but laugh before pulling his brother into a hug. "Those were the words some idiot said to us himself."
"Thank you, Sabo." Lucci closed his eyes and hugged his brother back, feeling a moment of peace.
"I'd do anything for my brother," Sabo said gently. "And don't overthink it. Usually, the person who does that is that idiot Ace. I don't want to say that both of my brothers are idiots."
Lucci let go of his brother and couldn't help but laugh "I'm not an idiot like Ace."
"Better?" Sabo asked with a smile, happy that his brother hadn't fallen into a severe depression, or at least didn't seem to.
"Well, you shouldn't worry about me." Lucci said with a smile, then turned to look at the dark sea again and asked "How is Luffy?"
"Luffy is fine." Sabo replied softly. He knew what Luffy was worried about. "You know, Luffy will never stop loving his brother. Just like our love for him, it can't be affected by any words. We will always be the most important people to him."
Lucci nodded, relaxing a little, knowing that what Sabo said was true "I don't want to hurt Luffy."
"Of course, we all know." Sabo put his arm around Luffy's shoulders and chuckled, "You didn't hurt Luffy, really. Don't worry, Luffy will never hate you, and neither will we. But I'm still Luffy's favorite brother."
Hearing the last sentence, Lucci broke away from Sabo's arm in dissatisfaction. "Shouldn't you tell me at this time that you are Luffy's favorite brother?"
"No, I will never give up this position." Sabo grinned.
Lucci glared at Sabo in dissatisfaction, then laughed, "Really, thank you, Sabo."
"Really? You've been thanking me all night." Sabo jokingly nudged Lucci. "You don't want to leave us, do you?"
Lucci's smile paused, then he pretended not to hear and continued smiling, "Sabo, do you remember when I first met you and asked you about the leader of the Revolutionary Army?"
"Of course I remember. When I went to look for you later, you were gone." Sabo complained, "But if we had met each other before then, would we not have recognized each other?"
Lucci couldn't help but laugh. "Haven't we met before? But the reason I wasn't there was because that idiot Ace was challenging Whitebeard alone."
"So stupid." Sabo complained.
"Indeed, when I first saw Ace after losing my memory, my first impression was that this guy was a stupid pirate." Lucci grinned.
"How did you meet?" Sabo asked curiously. "This is really a kind of luck."
"It was on a deserted island. Looking back now, it was truly a stroke of luck." Lucci couldn't help but smile as he recalled the situation. "If it weren't for Ace, I might not have been able to leave that deserted island. It was the first island I landed on after leaving the island where I trained as a child. The ship was destroyed, and I was trapped there."
"So Ace saved you," Sabo asked with a smile.
"Ah, that's right, but I actually planned to rob Ace's ship at that time." Lucci grinned, "But after meeting Ace, I gave up the idea because I thought he was a stupid pirate."
"Hahaha, really?" Sabo couldn't help laughing. "His stupidity is indeed innate."
"Maybe I thought he was too stupid, so I kept sailing with him." Lucci couldn't help but teased, "But he is really stupid, otherwise he wouldn't challenge Whitebeard when I was away, and then take both of us into it, and find himself a father together."
