Chapter 575: Complete Again
Chapter 575: Complete Again
"What are you?" Hohenheim bluntly asked.
"God," Alexander also nonchalantly replied. At the stage he was, he couldn't bother to drag things, also, he felt something different in the man.
Hohenheim was taken aback by the shameless claim. "What makes you believe that?"
"The point that I basically travel the universe and visit different civilizations. The fact that I have the power to send people to hell or heaven. Also, because I really am a god." Alexander replied.
But, he then looked at Hohenheim with a suspicious gaze, "What about you? Why do you have so many sad souls stuck inside you? Much more than the Homonculus I have punished till now. Are you one of them too?"
Hohenheim was once again speechless. He didn't expect for Alexander to read him so fast and easily. All his life, no one had been able to sense the souls inside him, more so because unlike the other Homunculus, he had calmed the souls down by talking with them.
Hohenheim had a feeling that lying wasn't going to be profitable at the moment so he honestly answered Alexander.
"I... I was there when the Xerxes was sacrificed by the dwarf. In fact, the dwarf was made with my blood..." Hohenheim went on to tell him his whole life story.
Alexander nodded at times and listened to him with concentration. He was understanding everything now.
"It is sad what happened to your wife. However, you should have gone back to check on your sons. Then maybe, they wouldn't be in the condition they are right now. All they wanted was a family, a loved one, and for it, they did the Human Transmutation. Anyway, do you know why this Father is doing all this? Why does he need another Philosopher's stone, of this size?" Alexander inquired.
Hohenheim denied, "I do not know. What I know is that he must be stopped, or else, everyone in Amestris will die, just like you announced."
"Haha, no, no one will die. I have already destroyed their tunnel. Anyway, why don't you ask Alphonse and Edward to come in? I have something for them." He advised.
Hohenheim did call them in as he wanted to see what it was. For now, in his mind, the top priority was to stop Father, then to find out who Alexander really was.
He had not taken Alexander calling himself a god seriously as in his mind if god existed, all these wars wouldn't have happened. But this was a misconception in all mortals' minds. Does a parent dictate the whole life of their child? Does a parent babysit their child even after he grows to be an adult? That was how god was. He was with the mortals at their inception, but when they grew enough to have their own thoughts and ideologies, God let them be.
It was humanity that was at fault for straying away and succumbing to their violent tendencies. For indulging people who desired war and destruction while killing those who desired peace. God only made humans, but it was humans that made war.
Soon, the two brothers entered with confusion visible on their faces. "Fuhrer,"
"Haha, don't call me a Fuhrer. I remember some funny memories because of it. Anyway, come here and sit down. I have something to discuss.
"You are weak, Al. Don't move too much." Edward worriedly advised him.
Hohenheim also came closer to the boys. He caressed Alphonse's head, and then Edward's.
"Your body only lacks nutrition. I will create some potion for you. It will supplement your body and rid any efficiency, son." He said.
Alphonse stared at his father. "Dad,"
"I am sorry, Al... Ed... I was not a good father. I couldn't keep my promise to Trisha. You had to go through so much. But I went away because I had found out about the plans of the Dwarf. Even now, although his plan was ruined, we must still stop the Dwarf, as I believe he is only temporarily stopped." Hohenheim said.
"We know, dad. You were doing everything to protect us." Edward said, finally accepting everything. He knew that he would have done the same. The death of his mother was tragic but Hohenheim was not responsible for it.
Hohenheim's mouth stayed open as he heard Edward calling him dad. He had thought he had lost the right to be called this.
With a sad face and nearly teary eyes, he quickly hugged them tightly, "Thank you,"
Alexander stayed back for the entirety of the exchange. He was remembering some long-gone memories. But suddenly he felt a hand on his shoulder.
He looked back, "Don't the two boys remind you of them?"
"Yeah, they do. They do." She muttered and held his hand as they watched the father and son's true reunion.
