Chapter 1117: Chapter 1117 Marcus' Evolution (3)

"Uh, should I lock this spell up, throw away the key, and never consider using it again." Marcus muttered as he stared at the after math of the Dark Matter spell.

From its appearance it almost looked like a tendril from the expanse of space had reached down and encroached on Mirrion. The utter destruction the magic left in its wake was unsettling to say the least. Even as the one that conjured this power, Marcus felt a sense of trepidation.

Watching it linger, he wondered if this part of the world would forever be blanketed in darkness.

"Maybe if I hit it with the tier ten light magic spell, the two will cancel out?" Marcus mussed, coming up with an extreme solution that was more likely to cause more harm than good.

Thankfully, Mirrion itself had some sort of restorative function to fix major distortions. Within just a few minutes powerful mana began to eat away at the Dark Matter spell.

Watching this remined Marcus of the Administrator's battle against the man that had invaded Mirrion through the Tower of Heaven.

During their clash, the power of two beings that sat at the very top of the world had caused cracks to form in space.

"I see. I suppose that I would not allow a spell to exist if it would cause permanent damage to a world I was managing."

While Dark Matter was indeed powerful, it still was something within the confines of Mirrion's system. If any ability was allowed to cause widespread and permeant damage to the world, Marcus would begin to question the sanity of the Administrator.

'Marcus, are you still doing okay? Also, what was that just now? I don't think I've every seen you use something like that before.' Lilia said over telepathy.

Marcus could hear the worry in his little sister's tone and quickly responded to reassure her.

'I'm fine except for being low on mana and spiritual energy. I'll admit I went a bit overboard testing out some new powers obtained by my evolution, but there's nothing to worr-'

As Marcus was communicating with Lilia, his attention was abruptly stolen by the appearance of over a dozen powerful entities.

Flying the in from over the horizon was fifteen large red spirits eaters, and a single enormous purple one in the center.

When they finally came into rage of Marcus creature appraisal skill, he quickly identifies the incoming monsters.

The ones that were red in color were called Ravenous Spirit Eaters, and evolved form of the regular kind. While the sole purple one was something called a Gluttonous Spirit Eater, and an even more powerful variant.

'The red ones range from level sixty-eight to seventy-seven. And the purple one is level eighty-five!'

Marcus could feel a chill shudder through him as he watched the Spirit Eater closing in on him.

Then in a flash it grabbed the lowest level of its subordinates and ate it hole in a single bite. A show of its superiority and an example of what would happen to any deserters.

"That was pretty horrendous. Though, I suppose is should not complain if they willingly lower their numbers." Marcus said, almost feeling bad for the swallowed Spirit Eater.

Once the now fifteen monsters had gotten within around three kilometers from Marcus, they abruptly stopped.

Quickly they spread out, surrounding Marcus in a circle.

At first, he wondered if this was some sort of countermeasure against the large-scale attacks he had already demonstrated, but soon realized that it served another purpose.

The Spirit Eater all at once released a great deal of energy which swiftly formed into a spherical barrier around Marcus.

"So, they won't be letting me escape." Marcus observed.

Simultaneously he activated his Spirit Portal race ability, and his Dark Portal unique skill.

Thankfully, while the race ability failed to activate, the unique skill still worked without issue and connected to another portal outside of the barrier. In the worst-case scenario he could still get away.

"Not that I'm planning to anyway."

As if in response to his words, four figures shot out of the woods and began assaulting the Ravenous Spirit Eaters that had graciously spread out to make themselves easier targets.

Having his three beast companions at his side, as well as Lilia, Marcus was confident that they could beat the monsters' intent on eating him.

Certainly, they were strong, but just recently all of them had faced more powerful foes.

"Dread Devourer."

Holding his right hand out, Marcus willed his Soul Bound Weapon to appear.

In an instant, the scythe that had been given a name by Mirrion's system appeared.

Its appearance had not changed, but Marcus could feel a profound difference. His own soul was a part of the weapon, and now that he had evolved, it had as well.

"Perhaps this attack was fortunate. I did not think I would get the opportunity to test out my new abilities so soon." Marcus said, a fearless smile on his face.
