1134 Chapter 1134 Relia’s Anger and Information

"I thought I told both you not to leave the hotel or stir up any problems while we are here."

Relia came stomping into Szusha and Petros' home with a look of fury on her face.

After finishing up her intelligence gathering in the Lamia's town, she had returned to the hotel meant for outsiders and learned that Marcus and Lyra had caused quite the scene and left with a fairly prominent member of the settlement.

And to make matters worse, when she tried to question Quillon, he refused to tell her anything.

That had only put her in an even fouler mood as she tracked the two of them down.

"Okay, I get that your angry, Relia, but at least let us explain." Marcus said, standing up and holding his out towards their vampiric companion.

"Oh, I'm not angry. I'm livid. How hard is it for you to follow a few simple directions? This place has its own rules, and the mess you've caused is already spreading around the town. Perhaps you don't care since you don't live down here, but I do. Now my reputation is going to take a hit because everyone is talking about how the two of you used your high level to bully one of the Lamia's and her slave."

Marcus winced when he heard how rumors about them were already spreading.

Of course, when they first met with Szusha, Lyra had exuded quite the intimidating aura. To any observers it certainly would have looked like she was pressuring Szusha and Petros.

"Lady Relia, please calm down. This was necessary. My husband and your companions know each other..."

Szusha attempted to speak up in Marcus and Lyra's defense, but Relia silenced her with a glare.

It was at this point that Lyra got up and stood so that she was blocking Relia's view of Petros and Szusha.

"That's enough. I understand why you are upset with us. I won't apologize though. I'd have done the same thing a million times if given the chance to do it over. My former subordinate's wellbeing is more important to me than following your orders."

It was at this point that the Vampiress deflated. Getting mad was not going to get her anywhere, and she was not strong enough to force Marcus or Lyra to do what she wanted.

"Is this really a problem? I think that the four of us should be more than capable of cutting our way through." Quillon said, unbothered by the information.

At their current levels, they certainly constituted quite a force. And even several thousands of lower-level monsters were not much of a threat to them.

Relia, however, simply shook her head.

"It's not that simple. I don't doubt we could force our way through most of them easily enough, but it's likely that some of the monsters are around level eighty. Plus, the widescale destruction has likely caught the attention of other denizens of the Darklands. It is only a matter of time until slimes show up and begin devouring the corpses and whatever else they can get ahold of."

The way that Relia spoke of slimes caught Marcus' attention. In a lot of fiction back on earth they were depicted as low-level monsters, similar to goblins.

However, since he arrived on Mirrion, he had not really encountered any.

'Wait. I think Miguel had some sort of slime type monster as one of his summons. Are they perhaps considered pretty dangerous here?'

When Marcus asked Relia about this, she affirmed his suspicions.

On Mirrion, slimes were not considered weak, but unbelievably dangerous creatures to avoid under most circumstances. Not only were they nearly impervious to physical attacks, but they also possessed an absurd level of regenerative ability that made them hard to kill. Add to the fact their deceptively quick movements and acidic fluids that could melt even adamantine, it was no wonder that they were feared.

"So, what are we going to do about this?" Lyra asked.

"Personally, I'd like to clear out the monster with all of your assistance and get the Lamias into our dept. Except, we do have a timetable to adhere to. My master wants me to bring all of you to her as soon as possible. There's no telling how long or what sort of trouble we might run into going up against such a large swarm of warring monsters. In the worst-case scenario, a high-level mythic grade beast, or one of the ancient monsters patrolling the Darklands in search of suitable prey might appear."

Relia was conflicted about what actions they should take, but ultimately decided to avoid the conflict zone and take a longer route that would bring them to their destination.

Of course, this path held with it its own dangers.

Relia explained that it crossed through an area that had a large sea of magma below it.

"All manner of dangerous beasts and monsters adapted to living within the molten rock can be found there. A lot of them will appear out of small tunnels and try to drag anything they come across into the magma. Still, it should be vastly safer than attempting to push through tens of thousands of powerful monsters." Relia said, coming to a decision and pulling out a map to explain their new route.
