Chapter 105 Presents Fit For A Summon (2)
THUD
The loud sound of a head hitting hardwood flooring echoed throughout the cave as Aoni, who had amazingly enough fallen asleep sitting against the wall, finally slumped over after several hours of rest.
Of Course, the jarring sensation of slamming his head onto the floor was MORE than enough to wake him up, and with a startled noise, the Lad shot upright and looked around the cave with groggy eyes.
"Shit, well, there goes my night of being productive," rubbing his eyes, Aoni yawned loudly and stood up before realizing it was already late enough in the morning that light bathed the interior of the cave.
"Mm,*sniffle*, let's go check on the kids, grab a bite to eat, and then it's back to work," yawning a second time and shuffling his feet as he walked, Aoni crossed the stretch of space between where he'd fallen asleep and the bedroom. However, upon poking his head beyond the doorway, the Lad reached up and rubbed his eyes several more times in confusion.@@@@
"No way..." he murmured while witnessing the magical sight surrounding his sleeping summons.
"I expected changes, but isn't this a little too much?" whispering and stepping into the room, Aoni crouched down beside the bed and observed the strange phenomenon surrounding the two.
Clinging to both Glacia and Nyria's bodies was a faint, translucent membrane reminiscent of an Aura, and from what Aoni could tell, it was functioning much like a placenta of sorts, not only nurturing the two summons but also enhancing their bodies.
For Glacia she had nearly doubled in size, going from the size of a Yorkshire terrier to that of a full-grown Shiba Inu. Her growth spurt didn't do much in the way of physical maturity, though; she still looked just as adorable as before, at least on her face, but the moment Aoni caught a glimpse of her teeth and claws, he knew her danger level had spiked by several times.
"The biggest issue here is their growth; even with my Crafter's Display and adding points to the beds, there isn't a 100% certainty that they will expand in size as the pillow did." Thinking aloud as he gathered up all the materials to start on Nyria's nest first since it would be the easier of the two, Aoni paced around the camp, dropping items off in droves at the Crafting Station before returning for more.
"For beast summons, like them, their growth is in phases: Newborn, Infant, Toddler, Adolescent, Teenage, and finally Adult. Each phase brings along a size increase, and based on Glacia's growth, she should enter the Toddler phase once her hibernation is complete." Dropping off an armful of thick vines, Aoni returned to the chest, which contained all the collected branches, and picked up another load.
"If I want to make something that won't become useless anytime soon, I'll need to guess how large she will be around the time she reaches the end of her Adolescent Phase. Ehhhh," Stopping mid-step due to nearly tripping over a dropped bundle of vines, Aoni quickly scooped them up before continuing.
"For now, we can go with something large enough that I can comfortably curl up on. It'll be quite big for her right now, but I don't see that being much of an issue given how restless of a sleeper that goober is." Smiling, Aoni finished collecting the materials for Nyria's bed and crossed his arms while inspecting the multiple piles of resources.
"As for Nyria, She may have already been in the Adolescent Phase, and as such, she will stay in adolescence for some time, even with the upgrade; however, the issue is her explosive growth rate. Going from the size of a jay to a large hawk is a bit too much."
Plopping down on the ground and chewing on his left thumbnail, Aoni sifted through the vines, untangling what needed to be untangled, and started laying out the blueprint for Nyria's nest.
In the end, the Lad went through several developmental ideas before eventually settling on a basic ring structure similar to a large wreath.
"Mmm, four feet should be fine, I think," careful not to mess up the blueprint, Aoni crawled into the center and curled up in a ball while taking note of the distance between his body and the edges of the ring.
"Should be fine; her body will be significantly smaller than the nest; however, I want her to decorate it similarly to how you would a bedroom; this is her personal space, after all." With a short nod, Aoni rolled out of the ring and started the intricate weaving
