Chapter 44: World of Vampire Detective [26]
I had mapped out all the CCTV cameras in the village.
There were 16 in total.
Six were positioned near the village entrance. The moment I entered, they would notice me immediately.
The remaining ten were scattered throughout the village, mostly placed at key points and near the wire fences to monitor them. The spot where I had entered through the wire fence was partially obscured by a house, making it one of the few gaps where I could infiltrate quietly.
I slipped into the house right in front of the wire fence. The cameras didn't monitor the inside of the houses. After all, these were living spaces for the villagers, not areas where they needed to surveil their own people.
"Snore! Phew... Snore! Phew~!"
The sound of heavy snoring leaked out from the bedroom. I had never heard snoring this intense before.
'Shouldn't someone like this go to the hospital?'
I carefully opened the door and stepped inside. A man in his early to mid-thirties was sprawled out on a mat, completely unconscious. The snoring grew even louder as I entered the room.
I quietly approached him and drove my sword into his neck.
"Guh...?!"
The man's eyes shot open, and he stared at me. I didn't avert my gaze.
"Kuh...! Ugh...!"
He grabbed the sword with both hands and tried to kick me with his legs, but they couldn't reach me. I was positioned above his head.
"Just give up. The only thing you can do now is die."
I spoke kindly to him.
But the man still refused to give up. His hands, now covered in blood, reached out toward me as if he wanted to do something to me. But it was too late.
Thud!
His arm fell to the floor.
The loud snoring was gone now.
After killing him, I thoroughly searched the house.
It was possible that they had hidden slush funds here instead of in the village hall. There might also be others hiding inside.
But there was nothing of value, let alone any slush funds. I wasn't disappointed. I hadn't expected much to begin with.
'Let's take them down one by one.'
I climbed over the wall and moved to the next house. To avoid the cameras, I had to either scale the walls or create gaps to move through.
"Oh! Yeah! F*ck! F*ck me! Oh! Yeah!"
Peeking through the window, I saw a man enjoying his time watching Western porn.
Western porn. I like it too. I don't discriminate based on race when it comes to pretty women. If they're beautiful, even if they're Black, it's fine.
'But Western porn tends to exaggerate too much. And there's too much fake breasts.'
If Korea is known for facial plastic surgery, the West is known for breast implants.
'That blonde woman has fake breasts too.'
The way her chest moved was unnaturally exaggerated. Her nipples were pretty, but that was about it.
Swish~
'Huh?'@@@@
Just in case, I tried opening the window, and it opened. It wasn't locked. The man's carelessness was beyond my imagination. I quietly opened the window. The man, engrossed in his activity, didn't notice me at all.
"Oh, f*ck yeah!"
He was nearing the end, but I didn't wait for him. I didn't care about his climax.
In one swift motion, I slit his throat. Blood sprayed as his head flew off. Unfortunately, his lower body twitched. If I kept watching, things would get messy. I quickly turned my gaze away and exited through the window.
I then moved on to the next house. The houses were closely packed together, likely for convenience. This worked in my favour.
"What are you... Ugh!"
I covered his mouth with one hand and stabbed the back of his neck with the sword in my other hand. As I pulled the sword out, a fountain of blood spurted out. I immediately moved to the next house.
"Hey, Jeokgwang?!"
"...Sh*t! That's a real sword!"
"Crazy! Quick, inform the boss!"
I wasn't an idiot, so I didn't just stand there. I closed the distance in an instant and swung my sword.
One of them died instantly, while the other two reacted to my movement. They stepped back and reached for the guns on the table. It was a trained response.
'Still too slow.'
A red trajectory slashed across their necks. Blood gushed out, and their bodies collapsed to the floor.
'How boring.'
I thought to myself as I looked at their corpses. In a head-on fight, ordinary people were no longer a match for me.
'...Vampires might be different.'
In less than 20 minutes, I had visited every house except the village hall. The number of people I killed was 11.
I hid by the gate and watched two men on patrol. They were slowly approaching my position.
"Ugh... I'm so bored. Even when I was stuck in the military, it wasn't this dull."
"I'm on leave tomorrow. I'm going to go blow off some steam."
"Oh, right. Didn't you have a girlfriend?"
"...We broke up. She kept asking what I do for work... You know how it is. Our job's a secret. Sigh!"
His pale skin and inhuman aura confirmed it. He was definitely a vampire.
Kim Chun-suk's money and power were enough to even employ vampires as subordinates.
"...So you're Jeokgwang. Judging by your actions, I thought you were a vampire... but you reek of human scent."
He held daggers in both hands. His upper body muscles, including his arms, were no joke. It seemed he had continued training even after becoming a vampire.
"What? Can vampires distinguish between humans and vampires by scent?"
"A vampire of my level can sense the unique scent of humans. It varies slightly from person to person... but your scent is rotten."
"That's the stench of the blood from the guys upstairs. Even if a vampire's sense of smell is superior to a human's, how can you distinguish people? Stop spouting nonsense."
I pointed the tip of my sword at him.
As I activated my Yeongcheon Style trait, I could instinctively sense his openings and range.
There were openings. I could see them. The problem was that those openings were deliberately created.
'It's a trap.'
If I ignored it and got closer, I'd likely get sliced up.
My opponent was a vampire. And not just any vampire—one who had consistently trained. I couldn't overpower him physically.
'Hmm...'
This situation wasn't unfamiliar to me.
In real life, I sparred with Jin Se-young every day. And this situation was very similar to facing her.
'In situations like this, she told me to either trust myself and go in... or throw something like a rock to force an opening.'
I opened my mouth.
"Did you become a vampire by choice?"
There were quite a few vampire progenitors, and most of them turned people into vampires on a whim. But among them, there were also those who turned people into vampires for a price.
"Yes. The human body is weak. So I chose the body of a vampire. If you're careful during the day, you can become a superhuman at night. No matter how you look at it, vampires are superior to humans."
"But you're weak to silver."
"Just don't get hit. Only professional vampire hunters use silver... and those guys are nothing to worry about as long as you avoid snipers."
"I agree with that."
Even as we talked, I kept an eye out for openings. But he was too composed.
"I can tell you're strong for a human. But in the end, you're still human. You'll die by my hand."
"Stop boasting. You can feel it too, right? My skills are no joke."
"...That level of martial arts. I've never heard of it. Where did you learn it?"
Could he gauge my martial arts skill just by my stance? This guy was no ordinary opponent.
"I learned it at an academy. But hey, I'm really curious about something."
"What is it?"
"Is sex with a female vampire good?"
"...."
"Oh! Haven't you tried it with a vampire?"
He stared at me intently, likely trying to figure out my motive.
There was no ulterior motive behind this question. It was pure curiosity.
Honestly, I was genuinely curious. If I got the chance, I even considered raping a female vampire.
"...I have. But if it's about holding a woman, it's better to hold a human woman."
"Huh, why? Vampires should have better tightness, right?"
"The tightness is indeed superior to humans. But they lack warmth. Their body temperature is low. It feels like holding a corpse."
"...Low body temperature but good tightness... I don't get it. I guess I'll have to try it myself. If I get the chance, I'll give it a go."
Having satisfied my curiosity to some extent, I made the first move.
He probably wouldn't be shaken no matter what I said.
In that case, there was no other choice. I'd have to cut him down.
'My advantage remains unchanged.'
I had Yeongcheon Style on my side.
"Hmm..."
He swung his dagger from outside my range. Suddenly, the dagger elongated, stretching out like a whip. The dagger-whip lashed toward me.
"Damn it!"
I cursed and stepped back, deflecting the dagger whip with my own blade. It wasn't that the dagger was special—he was the one with the special ability.
"Superpowers...! So you're a progenitor!"
