Tristan believed that the treasure vault surely had more Shadow power! related items beyond this skill book. However, he also knew a crucial lesson: knowing when to be satisfied.

Most importantly, the Lord had only granted one reward. Even if there were more Shadow power! items, he could only take one. Taking more would make him a wanted criminal in Davi City.

Since Edith had placed the skill book in front of him, she surely had her own reasons for doing so. Most likely, it meant there was a task waiting for him—but not in Taylor's identity, but Edith's.

After leaving the Lord's residence, Tristan planned to visit the black market and meet with Edith.

There was another point to consider: ExoGenesis had just launched, and the treasure vaults in the major cities hadn't reached their peak state yet. The quantity and quality of treasures weren't as high as they would be in later versions. Maybe, just maybe, this treasure vault only had this one Shadow power! skill book.

He focused his thoughts and held the Shadow Prism skill book in his hands, saying, "I've made my choice."

Taylor nodded. "Let's go."

When they emerged from the treasure vault, Horreo didn't ask any questions. He simply looked at Tristan and said, "Let's go. I'll take you out."

Horreo understood the Lord's personality well. Since Taylor had been tasked with guiding Tristan, it was clear that the Lord didn't want to intervene further. There was no need for Tristan to thank him either.

Horreo felt a bit helpless. Once, the Lord was full of vigor and actively managed various affairs. But now, he had lost all his ambition, focusing only on indulgence. As a subordinate, Horreo could only keep such thoughts to himself. His only duty was to train more soldiers to defend Davi City.

The three left the treasure vault, and halfway through, Taylor excused herself, saying she had something to attend to. Tristan knew she would probably change clothes and sneak out of the Lord's residence to visit the black market.

At the entrance of the Lord's residence, Horreo said, "After you killed Bonecrusher and disrupted Dark Horizon's plan, they won't let this slide easily. Be careful."

Tristan remained calm. He wasn't new to dealing with Dark Horizon and wasn't worried. Besides, with the Shadow Prism in his hands, it was now a life-saving skill. Unless the enemy launched a continuous, lethal attack, he would have enough time to react and activate Shadow Stealth to retreat safely.

However, on the surface, Tristan sighed and said, "The enemy works in the shadows, while we are in the light. We'll just have to take it one step at a time."

Horreo felt a bit bad. After all, Dark Horizon had targeted Davi City, and Tristan was just caught in the crossfire.

Hearing "ruin," Tristan's belief in Edith's words grew. Shadow power! had to have a significant origin. If it had appeared in ExoGenesis' history, it would definitely leave traces behind. A ruin could hold the key to uncovering its mysteries.

Tristan was intrigued and asked, "Have you been inside?"

Edith nodded and then shook her head. "I've been there, but I didn't go in. The entrance has some invisible force blocking it. You need Shadow power! to get through."

She chuckled bitterly. "I tried to force my way in, but it didn't end well."

Tristan, recognizing the unspoken meaning, didn't press further. He jumped straight to the next question. "Where is it?"

With a flick of her wrist, Edith sent her dagger flying into the wall, where it embedded itself, revealing a map.

Tristan memorized the coordinates and asked his next question. "You gave me the Shadow Prism for this ruin, didn't you? To make sure I don't die inside?"

Edith didn't answer directly but gave him a look that said, "You know the answer already, so why ask?"

Tristan shrugged. "Guess I was right."

It didn't matter. Even without the Shadow Prism, Tristan would have gone to check out the ruin. Now that he had it, though, he was confident that he could survive five unexpected attacks. His chances of making it out alive had increased significantly.

Before leaving, Tristan had one last question.

"Is there a consecutive win reward at the new arena?"

Edith chuckled lightly. "What, you want to try it?"

Tristan just smiled. There was no way he'd miss out on the arena—one of the best ways for players to get top-tier equipment.

Edith thought for a moment and then said, "We'll talk about that when you return from the ruins."
