Chapter 102 102: Arrival at Sonar City
Chapter 102 102: Arrival at Sonar City
News spreads faster than you'd think.
Tristan halted his leveling plans and returned to Davi City to use the teleportation portal to head to Sonar City. Along the way, he noticed several teams heading back in the same direction. These were the first-tier players who had left the beginner village after reaching level 10, all heavy internet users. The only thing that could pull them away from leveling was a BOSS.
Dark Gold Grade BOSSes are tough to fight. Even players who've completed their first class advancement would struggle to break their defenses. But with their levels up, plus better equipment and skills, using a strategy of overwhelming numbers can wear them down.
It seemed DarkSaber was planning to do just that.
And, of course, other guilds had the same idea.
One could predict that this Dark Gold Grade BOSS would spark a fierce battle. Normally, that would be the case. But today was different. Tristan was here, so the other players wouldn't stand a chance. With his current damage output, just two skills from him would deal 50% of the necessary damage, and he'd secure the loot all for himself.
As he was on his way back to town, Tristan kept in contact with Drake, exchanging the latest intel. From the looks of it, DarkSaber had made ample preparations for this BOSS fight. Not only had he bought a large amount of potions, but he had also offered ShieldBreaker a whopping 80 million gold to buy his Guild Token. The idea was to quickly organize a raid group to deal the decisive blow and claim the loot.
When Tristan heard this, he couldn't help but click his tongue.
DarkSaber was really putting his money where his mouth was.
This Dark Gold Grade BOSS wasn't like Bonecrusher, which had been upgraded to Dark Gold via a death ritual. This one had leveled up naturally and would likely be high-level. Even if DarkSaber managed to kill it, the loot wouldn't be useful to him immediately. Spending 80 million on gear that's temporarily useless takes guts.
But Tristan had to admit, DarkSaber's decision made sense.
If he could secure that Guild Token for 80 million, it'd be a huge win. Not only would DarkSaber gain the title of being the first guild in ExoGenesis, but his team would also have an advantage in terms of damage during the BOSS fight. It was a two-for-one deal.
Unfortunately, DarkSaber wouldn't succeed.
If he could think of this, the other guild leaders surely could too, and they'd probably offer the same price or even higher. ShieldBreaker wasn't stupid, and he understood the value of sitting back and letting the competition push up the price.
As Tristan was mulling this over, he got a message from ShieldBreaker: "Big Boss, DarkSaber offered me 80 million. What do you think? Should I sell?"
Although Drake knew that Blackshade had already pretty much claimed this BOSS, he still sent some of his guild members to Sonar City. His plan was simple: they wouldn't be able to beat Blackshade to the BOSS kill. Blackshade's damage output had been ridiculously high before, and now, at level 17, it was even more formidable.
So, instead of fighting for the BOSS, Drake's goal was to support Blackshade. Once Blackshade made his move, Shadow Legion would definitely back him up. This wasn't about gaining favor to secure more gear later—it was about fairness! DarkSaber trying to monopolize the kill had to be condemned.
Drake scanned the area and quickly spotted a familiar figure. He jogged over with his team: "Blackshade."
Tristan acknowledged him with a nod and casually said, "Just came to check things out."
After a brief exchange, Drake seemed to have received some news and asked, "Found the BOSS location. Should we head over now?"
Tristan nodded. "Lead the way."
The group left the city and headed straight for the coast. Tristan quickly deduced what kind of BOSS they were dealing with.
It was part of the "sea tribe."
This was a general term for all creatures living in the sea, calling themselves descendants of the Sea God. More specifically, this encompassed many sub-races such as mermen, lobster-men, tidal giants, nagas, siren sea monsters, and so on.
While a few of these races were friendly, most of them considered land-dwelling creatures their enemies.
Tristan had a vague feeling that Dark Horizon might be involved. The goblins had appeared in Davi City, and now a Dark Gold Grade BOSS was showing up in Sonar City. Could Dark Horizon be working behind the scenes, attempting to unleash the sea tribe to attack Sonar City?
Though there wasn't enough information, Tristan felt there was a strong possibility.
If they managed to take down this Dark Gold Grade BOSS and bring its head back to Sonar City, it could earn them favor with the city's ruler.
After finding the Shadow Prism in Davi City's vault, Tristan couldn't help but wonder what kind of surprises Sonar City had in store for him.
He couldn't wait.
