Chapter 679: Elites of the Knight Orders

Starting from the moderately difficult dungeons, eventually becoming capable of diving to the depths of the high difficulty dungeons within the Demon Continent, the members of the Sanctuary Knights could truly be called elite knights.

Especially when we support them, power leveling in the depths of high difficulty dungeons in the Demon Continent had provided not only direct benefit of raising the knights’ physical abilities and skill levels through leveling up, but it also gave them confidence in intense battles.

Injuries of varying degrees were healed with potions or magic that Akane and I cast.

Even their dented and scratched armor returned to its unblemished shiny silver, all because of the Self Repair enchantment.

The knights mounted on Battle Horses repeatedly hunted monsters in in monster nests in the Savage Lands to level up alongside the Battle Horses.

While the cavalry was somewhat ineffective against non-humanoid monsters, they practiced tactics and conducted group training as a cavalry through mock battles amongst themselves.

Additionally, in the Sanctuary, there there were golems that had horse-like lower halves known as the Centaur-type Golem that was created during the war between the Trination alliance of Valkyra Kingdom, Lomaria Kingdom, and Yggurle Kingdom against the Divine Empire of Sydnia and Triaria Kingdom.

We decided to increase the number of these Centaur-type Golems and put them to use in the cavalry.

While they didn’t have the highly advanced AI that the self-aware Titan did, they still possessed adequate faculty to follow the commands of their commander in battle.

Seeing the Centaur-type Golems in use again after a long time, I realized I hadn’t made a golem in so long.That made me want to make a new one.

The knights have reached a good stopping point, so maybe I’ll think about it while playing with my daughters.

In front of me, the knights dressed in their respective order’s equipment, looking far stronger than when they first enrolled, were receiving Sophia’s instructions.

「You have endured harsh training well. I am proud of you all.」

『Yes, Sir!』

……Sir? Sophia really looks like a drill sergeant now.

「However, do not become complacent where you are now. Know that this is just the beginning!」

Certainly, the activities of the knights start here.

「There is no end to training. Do not become negligent in your efforts to improve yourself constantly. That will guard your life, and it contributes directly to the safety of the Sanctuary.」

Well, in addition to their general training, they would continue to hunt monsters in monster nests and leveling new recruits in dungeons.

At Sophia’s sign to dismiss, the knights returned to their respective headquarters.

A portion of those groups immediately went on patrol around the Sanctuary and outside of the Sanctuary.

“Setting aside the outside of the Sanctuary, was there even a need to patrol the inside of the Sanctuary?” was what I asked Sophia, but she said their primary objective was to interact with the citizens, helping with their tasks and listening to requests.

If limited to within the Sanctuary, there was no one who commits criminal acts nor any dangerous monsters inhabiting it, so the meaning of a patrol was somewhat difference.

「Thank you for your hard work.」

「Ah, Takumi-sama, you were watching?」

「Yeah, you were so cool, Sophia.」

「T-thank you.」

When I approached Sophia and offered words of encouragement, the normally cool Sophia looked shy and bashful. I can’t get enough of that gap moe. I’m so glad I got to marry my beautiful wife.

「And with that, the knight orders are somewhat settled.」

「……regarding that, I have a small matter that I must discuss with you, Takumi-sama.」

「Uhh, is there a problem?」

「Fluna has been assigned as the captain of the Water Spirit Knights, Gocchi for the Earth Spirit Knights, and Mirko for the Wind Spirit Knights. However, the Fire Spirit Knights have Human and Beastkin members, so they’re all quite young, which is making it difficult to appoint a captain……」

「Ahh, I see. Dan and the others have only just recently become adults too.」

Fluna had always the leader of the Mermaids in the Sanctuary, so that shouldn’t be a problem. The Earth Spirit Knight Gocchi seemed a bit young for a dwarf, but he was still in his mid-30’s; The Wind Spirit Knight Mirko was also still considered young for an Elf, but was apparently over 50. Additionally, both Sophia and Dante-san must have assessed that Gocchi and Mirko were capable of serving as captains.

「Yes. For the captain of the Fire Spirit Knights, it would be ideal if we could find someone who isn’t just strong individually, but has the ability to bring everyone together, and is also mature enough.」

「There’s no one like that, is there? ……okay, I’ll give it some thought.」

「Thank you.」

A knight captain, huh…… it would be impossible for a teenager.

I’ll probably have to try and find someone.
