Chapter 156: Cygnus's Plan
Chapter 156: Cygnus's Plan
Everyone looked towards the Gryffindor table, but Cygnus kept her head down, expressionless.
"It really wasn't me, Ron! Believe me! I didn't vote for my own name at all!" Harry pulled his friend's sleeve, his face flushed with anxiety.
The Gryffindor students around him were either looking at him with frowns or whispering to each other, and distrust was written on everyone's face.
Over at the teachers' table, Karkaroff whispered something into Madame Maxime's ear, and Dumbledore nodded from time to time.
The three people whispering to each other made the atmosphere in the auditorium even more weird.
From the corner of her eye, Cygnus saw the dark-haired boy's shoulders tense as Dumbledore called out "Harry Potter" for the second time.
Harry felt the hair on the back of his neck stand on end.
Hundreds of gazes were overwhelming him, so he could only bite the bullet and move towards the door.
His shoulder almost brushed against her falling platinum hair as he passed the Slytherin table.
"Seg——"
Cygnus lowered her eyes and stirred the spoon, and the black-haired boy paused noticeably.
She didn't look up until Harry stopped in front of her.
Their eyes met for less than half a second before Harry's ears suddenly turned red and he quickly turned his face away.
The corners of Segnus' lips moved almost imperceptibly, and then returned to his usual cold expression.
Draco took in the whole scene.
Sometimes he was very annoyed that his sister always made an exception for Harry.
Under normal circumstances, he would have jumped up and made sarcastic remarks, but today he didn't say a word and just stared at Potter's back.
When the warriors' footsteps disappeared behind the stone gate, the auditorium suddenly erupted into a buzz of discussion.
Cygnus heard someone at the Ravenclaw table say "Potter is crazy about fame".
Susan Bones of Hufflepuff is arguing with Ernie that "the age line cannot be broken".
She watched this farce with a smile on her face
A voice suddenly popped up in the crowd: "I think it is absolutely impossible that Potter threw it in himself."
It was Draco who spoke.
As soon as these words came out, everyone around them dropped their jaws in shock.
Who doesn't know that Malfoy from Slytherin and Potter from Gryffindor are sworn enemies?
Draco ignored the surprised looks and walked out of the hall.
Of course he knew Harry didn't have the guts.
After all, after so many years of confrontation, he knew Harry better than anyone else.
When they returned to the common room, Draco felt a little uncomfortable with the look in Cygnus' eyes.
"Why are you looking at me?"
Cygnus didn't say anything, but just looked at him with a half-smile. Draco gritted his teeth and turned his face away, "Don't think I don't know that you just looked at Potter."
"Oh, and then?"
I thought that Segnus would give it to me, but I didn't expect her to just say "and then what?"
This made Draco even more angry, and he puffed his cheeks and looked at the Black Lake outside the window.
However, instead of comforting him as usual, Segnus went straight back to the bedroom.
Seeing Cygnus leave, Draco could only feel sad in the common room.
Maybe my sister really dislikes me.
At the same time, the door of the Slytherin girls' dormitory closed silently.
With a flick of her slender fingers, a string of golden runes burst out from the tip of her wand.
"Close your ears and block your ears", "protective barrier" and "anti-peeping spell", three layers of protection are completed in one go.
She took off her school robe, revealing the dark green slim dress underneath.
Today she noticed Gareth's expression. This kid was probably planning something bad again.
Sometimes you have to guard against a potentially dangerous venomous tongue.
Especially those venomous snakes that are extremely poisonous, they might kill you in one blow when you are not paying attention.
Currently, Senus is the only one living in the dormitory, and everyone else will be tactful and give her private space.
"Come out and stop pretending." She said to the shadow in the corner with a cold voice.
A pitch-black cat walked out from under the bed, its red eyes flashing strangely in the dim room.
"Meow~" It called out like a spoiled child, with its tail raised high.
Cygnus narrowed her gray-blue eyes and pointed her wand at the black cat's forehead: "I'll count to three, one--"
The black cat's body suddenly twisted and expanded, turning into a tall young man.
Tom Riddle slouched against her four-poster bed, his black robes hanging loosely, revealing his pale collarbone.
"You are always so impatient, Cygnus." His voice was low and pleasant, but it ended with a snake-like hiss.
Cygnus sneered, his wand not moving at all. "And your Transfiguration is still so poor, Tom. I can even see that your cat's tail is not hidden well."
As expected, there was a long, thin black shadow trailing behind Riddle.
His face froze, and he quickly waved his wand to undo the mistake.
"Get out of here."
Looking at Riddle lying on his bed, Segnus felt a headache.
Why does this person always like to dirty her bed.
Riddle narrowed his eyes.
For a moment, his pupils shrank into a thin line.
But in the end he just curled the corners of his lips and slowly got up from her bed.
"As you wish, my lady."
Cygnus watched him sit back down in the armchair before she put her wand away.
She hated it when anyone touched her personal belongings, especially this bed, which was one of the few places in Hogwarts where she could completely relax.
Riddle crossed his long legs and tapped the armrest with his pale fingers: "As a girl, I suggest you keep your temper down."
There was an imperceptible sense of grievance in his tone.
Cygnus pretended not to hear and waved her wand to cast three cleaning spells on the bed.
She was barely satisfied until she could no longer smell any trace of outsiders.
The moonlight filtered through the waves of the Black Lake, casting flickering spots of light on the floor of the room.
In this dim light, Segnus examined the soul fragments in front of him.
It is indeed more solid than the last time we met.
Riddle's outline was no longer transparent, and his black hair could even cast a clear shadow on the stone wall when it fell.
Under the high nose bridge, the thin lips showed a healthy blood color.
If you ignore the fact that the words he spits out are always poisonous.
"I asked you to inquire about Selwyn's matter. How is the progress?" She went straight to the point.
Hearing this, Riddle, who had been feeling somewhat aggrieved, suddenly became interested.
"Very interesting. The other me is collecting materials for resurrection. After Petilu's death, he needs to make more preparations."
He lowered his voice, with the pleasure of sharing a secret: "But the core plan has not changed, it still depends on Potter." The tip of his scarlet tongue licked his canine teeth, "After all... the blood of the enemy is necessary."
Segnus listened to his report expressionlessly, but was thinking about solutions in his mind.
The last conversation with Barty Jr. let her know that the final stage of the Triwizard Tournament was to teleport to Voldemort.
Even as powerful as she is, she cannot guarantee that there will be no risks this time.
After all, she had to face the once famous Dark Lord.
"Good, keep watching them," she ordered, suddenly feeling dizzy.
The recent frequent use of soul magic has made her magic power somewhat unstable.
Riddle noticed acutely the sudden pallor of her face.
"Are you overdrawing yourself again?"
"It's none of your business." Segnus said coldly, but had to hold on to the edge of the table to steady himself.
Riddle was at her side in an instant, his pale hand resting on her waist.
"You need to rest." His voice was unusually serious. "If you continue like this, our soul connection will--"
“I told you, it’s none of your business!”
Cygnus pushed him away and pointed her wand at his heart. "Remember your identity, Tom. You are just a remnant soul I have taken in, not my guardian."
Riddle's expression suddenly darkened.
The temperature in the room dropped suddenly and the candle flames shook violently.
"One day," he said softly, with a perverted twist, "you're going to regret this attitude."
Cygnus sneered: "Before that day comes, I will seal you into a rat."
There was silence.
Finally, Riddle stepped back and made an exaggerated bow. "Yes, Master."
Segnus didn't bother to argue.
She turned and walked to the desk, took out a bottle of silver-blue potion from the secret compartment and drank it all in one gulp. The dizziness from the magic power was immediately alleviated a lot.
"Starting tomorrow," she said, her back to Riddle, "I want you to focus on monitoring Karkaroff."
Riddle raised an eyebrow: "Why?"
"Don't ask nonsense questions." Cygnus interrupted him, "Also, stay away from my brother. If I find out that you are trying to persuade him to learn your shameful magic again."
She didn't finish, but the green light at the tip of her wand said it all.
Riddle looked hurt. "You always misunderstand me like that. I just thought the boy needed some... extracurricular guidance."
"Get out."
Signus opened the door, "Change back to your cat form and don't let anyone see you."
The black cat walked out gracefully, its red eyes glanced at her one last time in the darkness, and then disappeared into the shadows of the corridor.
Cygnus closed the door, finally allowing herself to show her exhaustion.
Time is running out and she has a lot of things to do.
