P.S.: Slice of life unfolds first, then the main storyline takes place in a fictional world. Please don't relate this to reality. This book has a lot of sweet moments...
Volume 1: The Coming Storm
1. Disobedience has befallen me?
P.S.: In light of the recent posts and comments, I feel it's necessary to emphasize that this book incorporates the Watch Dogs universe. Hacking techniques are modeled after those in Watch Dogs; please do not compare them to reality. Also, this is a fanfiction; please read it with that perspective to avoid causing us both to suffer from high blood pressure. Thank you.
Luo Fan, an ordinary college student, possesses impressive hacking skills, allowing him to indulge in a few 648 RMB purchases while still having enough to eat, leading a very comfortable life. Like many others, he spends a weekend lying in bed grinding Girls' Frontline, his favorite game, a game known for its blend of sorrow and hope. Although Girls' Frontline has a small player base, it boasts a more harmonious community environment compared to other games. After each event, players express their gratitude, saying they've eaten their fill of peaches, even shedding tears of joy.
Luo Fan was no exception, but not because of the whole plot. It was because of the complete annihilation of the Rebellion Squad. His beloved Rebellion Squad was wiped out because of RPK16's betrayal. When he finished reading this part of the plot, Luo Fan broke down on the spot, cursing Chong for being inhuman, and then sobbing uncontrollably until he fell into a deep sleep.
However, when he woke up, he was not in the familiar display case of figurines, but in an internet cafe, with a computer in front of him that was already in screensaver mode.
"Damn, did I cry so hard that I sleepwalked into an internet cafe?" These were the first words he uttered upon waking. But just as he was still wondering what he had done last night to end up in an internet cafe, a hand patted his shoulder, startling him so much that he jumped up. Behind him stood a scruffy-bearded man, who appeared to be the owner of the internet cafe.
"Uh..." Just as he was about to ask something, the boss interrupted him: "Young man, you slept here all night without turning off your computer. Logically, I should charge you for that time as well, but seeing that you're struggling to support yourself, I won't charge you. Hurry up and get out of here, I have to open the shop."
It was clear that the owner didn't want to waste his time, so Luo Fan could only grab his bag and leave the internet cafe.
As soon as I stepped out of the store, I heard the morning news playing on the LED screen of the building: "Yesterday, Umbrella Corporation announced that it will soon produce a military drug that can enhance the overall strength of human muscles and significantly relieve fatigue, and may even produce a civilian version in the future..."
Umbrella shouldn't exist in this world...
But looking at the white people walking around on the street and the Umbrella mentioned on the LED screen, he knew.
He had transmigrated; otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to cross an ocean to another country in a single night without realizing it, let alone discover that Umbrella existed in this world.
Fortunately, he still had his familiar tablet in his bag. He looked very down on his luck, but as long as he had this tablet, he wouldn't have to worry about not being able to afford food.
Of course, this happened a month ago...
Luo Fan is currently an unemployed person living in a small two-bedroom apartment.
You want to ask me where the money came from? I just wandered around some nightclubs that night after leaving the internet cafe, and happened to see some rich young men and successful people.
Of course, the money from one night would be enough for him to buy his own small villa in a wealthy neighborhood in New York. But his long-term life in Donghuang has made him more accustomed to these small apartments, which feel more like home to him.
Of course, there were some strange things that happened during this period.
Just last night, my Girls' Frontline game suddenly updated by 70GB, and a new app called "News" appeared that I couldn't delete no matter what I tried, not even the convenient app shredder I developed myself. Strangely, this "News" app doesn't take up any memory.
"You little rascal, you've stuffed the folder full of knives, haven't you?"
But for Girls' Frontline, Luo Fan had to delete all other games besides Girls' Frontline and update them. What could he do? He loved Girls' Frontline the most. Even if it was to disobey the team, he wouldn't just delete Girls' Frontline.
Those study materials are a real shame...
I spent the whole night searching the red-light district to collect these study materials...
Forget it, with Girls' Frontline around, who still watches real-life movies?
Oh, and there's one more thing!
Last night, before going to bed, Luo Fan filled up all four of his major buildings. Where did he get the resources? From the rich people of New York!
However, the result was.....
Four 4:14:59
"Wow, did I just get four five-star ARs?" It was rare for my big build to not be a disaster, and Luo Fan felt he could even pop some champagne to celebrate, since getting IDW Da Miao on a big build was already hard for him to hold onto.
Having finally gotten something good, Luo Fan fell asleep the moment his head hit the pillow.
The next morning, Luo Fan woke up early, opened Girls' Frontline, clicked on the factory, and claimed the item with one click. He clicked the screen again. He could skip the star rating animation; it was a doll he owned.
Familiar words reached his ears: "Hmm... a new commander? I'll have to wait and see how long you can keep me interested."
It's AK12. As long as they are humanoid characters from the Rebellion Squad, Luo Fan will listen to their voice lines every time without skipping a single one. Don't ask why, it's just the power of his fandom.
The next three androids repeated the same familiar lines: "Commander, hello. AN94 will be at your service from now on... May I ask... oh no, it's nothing, please don't mind..."
"Nice greetings, Commander. I am AK15, an active-duty tactical doll. Please issue commands to me more efficiently."
"We meet again, Commander. I told you we'd see each other again soon. Like the fate of moths drawn to fireflies... Is that a strange metaphor?"
Good heavens, this is a repeat of the entire "disobedience" trope! Despite the repetition, Luo Fan still thought, "Is this some kind of good thing?"
Although RPK16 betrayed him, after calming down, Luo Fan still found it hard to hate her. After all, if you're going to use someone as a tool, you shouldn't give them emotions. Luo Fan felt that besides turning into a human, there must be other hidden reasons, and he still chose to believe RPK16.
After all, everyone who defied him was a doll of his own oath, and all of them were at the top level with full favorability.
At the same time, a notification appeared at the top of the screen, brought by the app called "News".
"A plane crashed today at Raccoon City International Airport. All passengers perished. Police have cordoned off the area..."
A plane crash in Raccoon City signifies the start of a biohazard crisis. The news report that none of the passengers survived is undoubtedly information censorship implemented by the police to prevent the spread of panic. However... the news report is dated January 17, 2022, but today is September 30, 2021.
"So, in three months?" In three months, the biohazard crisis will break out in Raccoon City, and he himself is located in Raccoon City. The Raccoon City International Airport is only two kilometers away from his residence... It seems like fake news for entertainment, but the existence of Umbrella still makes him have to believe the reality of this event.
Three months is enough time for me to prepare weapons, ammunition, and supplies. With my hacking skills, financial resources are not a problem at all. It's just that I have to be a little greedy.
Thinking this, Luo Fan turned off the screen and went to get a glass of water.
Just then, an extremely discordant thumping sound came from the wardrobe behind me.
Luo Fan's attention was also drawn to it; he didn't remember putting any hard objects like boxes in the wardrobe.
"What the hell? My cabinet moved in broad daylight?"
The sound continued, and Luo Fan gasped. He grabbed the broom beside him and slowly walked towards the wardrobe.
One step, two steps, three steps...
With each step he took, more sweat poured down his forehead, but he had already aimed the tip of the stick at the cabinet door, ready to suppress anything that tried to escape.
With a nervous heart, Luo Fan reached out and slowly opened the cabinet door... A tuft of white fur fell out from the crack in the cabinet, startling Luo Fan.
"Could it really be haunted?" Just as Luo Fan was hesitating whether to continue opening the cabinet door, the owner of the voice seemed to be eager to break free from this constraint, and the cabinet door was suddenly pulled open from the inside.
But to Luo Fan's surprise, what came out was not a terrifying ghost, but four beautiful white-haired older sisters.
They were even carrying weapons.
"?????????????"
This is what Luo Fan is thinking now.
"AK12? AN94? AK15? RPK16? I just built the Rebellion of All this morning."
Is disobedience descending upon me?
P.S.: This is a new book by a new author, so I hope you can offer some opinions or criticisms.
2. Accidental firing?
AN94, AK15, and RPK16 were still clutching their heads, while AK12 was lying directly on the ground. But she was also the first person to figure out what was going on.
"Oh, isn't this the Commander?"
AK12, with his eyes still closed, looked at Luo Fan, who was still in shock, with a smile, but his words also brought the three people beside him to their senses.
"Wh...what? Commander?" AN94 looked up and saw the face that felt so familiar to her. She quickly stood up and composed herself. She stood at attention, but unfortunately, the blush on one side of her face betrayed her immense excitement.
AK15 was already in action, still sporting that fierce expression: "Hello, Commander, I have entered your room by mistake for some unknown reason. I am very sorry to disturb you."
"Stop, stop..." This whole thing had completely baffled Luo Fan, who was still in a state of extreme shock. But then, a gunshot rang out, interrupting his thoughts.
"Bang--"
It was a very crisp sound, but it was deafening in the small room.
RPK16 was bending over to stand up when he accidentally fired his weapon, which interrupted his movement.
She slowly raised her head and found that the other four people were all staring at her.
But RPK16's smile didn't disappear.
"Oops, it went off by accident."
Despite her nonchalant tone, Luo Fan wanted nothing more than to rush up and punch her. This was the city center, especially in a crowded apartment building. A sudden gunshot could easily attract the police.
Luo Fan, no longer in shock, quickly helped RPK16 up and picked up AK12, who was lying on the ground. Picking up the 1.7-meter-tall AK12 was not a difficult task for Luo Fan, who was 1.85 meters tall.
But just as he picked up the AK12, it secretly rubbed against his chest...
Wow...what a great sense of justice!
Luo Fan was completely stunned.
"Commander, wouldn't it be better to let me lie on the ground properly? Or is it that lying on the ground is dirty and might spoil the fun when we're doing our job?"
Although his eyes were still closed, Luo Fan could already feel AK12's captivating eyes staring at him, and that serene smile seemed to be a death trap for him.
AK12's eyelids do not have the ability to obstruct its vision; this is merely to reduce the computational load required for it as an electronic warfare doll.
But AK12 can still make sense of what's in front of him, although Lovan has never known how AK12 does it.
But now, reason prevailed over desire; he didn't want to end up eating in jail.
After only a few seconds of hesitation, Luo Fan quickly issued the order: "Quickly, hide all your weapons right now, hurry!"
But he still didn't let go of the AK12 with his hands.
AK15 raised his hand and said, "Excuse my boldness, Commander, but I don't think hiding our weapons would be conducive to carrying out the mission."
"Never mind that! Your task now is to hide the weapons, or the mission will fail!"
A hint of doubt flashed in AK15's eyes, but he still obediently did as he was told. He silently walked to the bedside, lifted the bed board, threw the weapon in, and then put the bed board back in its original position. The whole operation was very smooth, and Luo Fan didn't even have time to react.
"Commander, mission complete."
He only reacted when the cold sound of the AK15 rang out.
"Oh, then you guys should hurry up and hide your weapons too." After recalling the power and efficiency of the tactical dolls, Luo Fan was no longer in such a hurry.
So the remaining three people also went to the bed board. AK15 lifted the bed board again, and after all the weapons were hidden, he put the bed board back down.
As soon as the bed board was placed, AK12 lay down on it and grabbed Luo Fan's blanket, sucking on it vigorously, which made AK15 frown.
"AK12, do not touch the commander's personal belongings."
But AK12 acted as if he hadn't heard, and even went further by grabbing the blanket and wrapping himself up.
“AK12, watch your…” Before he could finish speaking, Luo Fan grasped AK15’s hand, smiled and shook his head. Although AK15 was dissatisfied, he could only give up.
AN94 patted Luo Fan on the shoulder and asked, "Commander, why are we hiding our weapons?" This question also drew the attention of the other three.
"Uh... to put it simply, you are not currently in the world that Griffin lives in."
"What did you say?" AN94 frowned, expressing skepticism about the statement.
"I know this is hard to believe, but this is reality. There are no Griffins, no Ironbloods, no military, no Collapse Fluid, no ELIDs, and not even tactical dolls like you. The world as a whole is in a relatively peaceful state. If you don't believe me, look out the window."
As soon as she finished speaking, Luo Fan noticed that RPK16 was already by the window. A smile played on her lips as she looked at this unfamiliar world and murmured to herself, "What a beautiful world. There is no war, no tactical dolls, and no collapse fluid. There are only so many vibrant and beautiful lives walking around, like ants silently traversing one piece of land after another."
Hearing these words, Luo Fan felt a little worried. Although RPK16 was his sworn doll, did RPK16 really have no intention of becoming human now?
Even so, Luo Fan had no intention of interrupting RPK16. He wanted to observe for a while and gradually improve RPK16's attitude towards life.
However, the peace and order in this world can only be maintained for another three months.
After lying in bed for a few minutes, AK12 finally spoke: "Commander, even if there is world peace, what does that have to do with us holding our own weapons?"
Looking at the AK12 wrapped up like a white meat roll, Luo Fan sighed silently and explained, "Of course it's related. The order around us is maintained by the police. It's precisely to maintain order that we don't allow relatively dangerous items like guns to be privately owned. Although our country is relatively lenient in this regard, your automatic weapons have exceeded that relatively lenient scope."
"The neighbors must have heard that gunshot. If I hadn't hidden properly, I might have been taken away in a minute."
