Chapter 60 The Witch's Warning
Chapter 60 The Witch's Warning
As soon as the words left his mouth, Vodka regretted them.
The atmosphere inside the carriage instantly plummeted to freezing point, as if the air itself had solidified.
The next second, a small, pocket-sized pistol was pressed against the back of Vodka's head. The cold metallic touch made his whole body stiffen, and cold sweat instantly soaked his back. Even his breathing became cautious.
Vermouth's voice came close to his ear, with a sweet laugh, but her eyes were cold and piercing.
"Why did you stop? Keep going!"
"...Big brother, save me!"
Vodka's voice trembled with fear as he hurriedly called for help from Gin beside him, not daring to even move the steering wheel for fear of triggering the gun behind him.
"That's enough, Vermouth."
Gin frowned slightly, his tone tinged with impatience, but a strange emotion flashed in his eyes, as if he was somewhat surprised by her intense reaction.
"Vodka was just saying it casually, why are you reacting so strongly? Could it be...?"
"Gin!"
Vermouth interrupted him sharply, her tone icy and carrying a strong warning; her aquamarine eyes were filled with frost.
"As I've already said, this trip to Japan is purely personal. Since it has nothing to do with the organization, it's none of your business!"
After she finished speaking, seeing that Gin remained silent, she slowly put away her pistol, leaned back in her seat, closed her eyes, and said nothing more.
The carriage fell silent again, with only the low rumble of the engine and the howling night wind outside the window.
Shortly after the black Porsche 360A entered the bustling city area, Vermouth told Vodka to park anywhere on the side of the road.
Watching Vermouth's figure gradually disappear into the night, Vodka finally let out a long sigh of relief, muttering grumbling in dissatisfaction.
"Brother, if this woman doesn't want us to know her whereabouts, why does she insist that we pick her up at the airport? It's completely baffling."
"Didn't she just say the reason?"
Gin calmly lit a cigarette, and through the swirling smoke, his gaze grew even more profound.
"She approached us simply to warn us not to make a move against the target she was looking for."
"Even without what you just said, she would have found another excuse to convey this meaning to us."
"Huh? Am I right? Vermouth really is in Japan to see her lover?"
Vodka's eyes widened in surprise, his voice filled with disbelief.
"Who knows?"
Gin exhaled a smoke ring, the smoke filling the carriage, his tone tinged with disgust and impatience.
"That woman is always so secretive, it's annoying..."
……
The next morning, Lin Xiuyi drove Xiaolan to Teitan Elementary School. After watching her walk into the school gate and wave goodbye, he turned the car around and drove towards Teitan High School.
He is the psychologist shared by three schools: Teitan Elementary School, Junior High School, and Senior High School. According to school regulations, because high school students experience greater emotional fluctuations during puberty and have a much higher frequency of psychological problems than elementary and junior high school students, he must hold a clinic at Teitan Senior High School every morning and can only go to the other two schools in the afternoon.
The counseling room at Teitan High School was noticeably quieter today than on its first day when female students rushed to seek counseling; there were hardly any knocks on the door.
Lin Xiuyi sat there all morning, and only three female students came because they were upset and had conflicts with their families.
He left all these trivial teenage anxieties to Judy, who was standing nearby, to handle.
Having come from the FBI, Judy had some knowledge of psychology, and although her research focused on criminal psychology and interrogation techniques, she was more than capable of dealing with these minor emotional issues.
The advantage of not being disturbed was that Lin Xiuyi, who was exhausted after "losing money" last night, was finally able to lean back on the sofa, close her eyes, and catch up on sleep.
He slept until noon, stretched out a big yawn, and felt much more refreshed.
"Sigh, high school girls these days are so heartless. Just two days ago they were surrounding me like crazy, but today nobody's paying any attention to me," Lin Xiuyi sighed, leaning back on the sofa, feigning grievance.
"Boss, those high school girls aren't stupid."
Judy walked over with a cup of coffee, her tone full of exasperation.
"On your first day at work, you openly and subtly rejected everyone. Your attitude was very clear. Except for those with exceptionally thick skin, who would dare to come up to you and cause trouble?"
"Even though I rejected them, they should still pursue me persistently!"
Lin Xiuyi laughed heartily, showing no sign of disappointment at being neglected.
"Heh, boss, what good does this do you?" Judy rolled her eyes and handed him the coffee.
"Of course, it's to satisfy my vanity." Lin Xiuyi raised an eyebrow, took the coffee, and took a sip.
The two exchanged a few more jokes and were about to lock up and go out for lunch when there was a gentle knock on the door of the counseling room.
Judy opened the door, and there stood a girl with short, ear-length hair, wearing the Teitan High School uniform, her head down, her cheeks slightly flushed, looking quiet and shy.
As is customary, Judy first gently inquired about the girl's situation. Upon learning that the girl had come seeking help because of a conflict with her family, Judy immediately turned to Lin Xiuyi and volunteered.
"Boss, how about I do it?"
Judy was so enthusiastic because the past few days had allowed her to thoroughly understand Lin Xiuyi's personality.
This guy, just as described in the FBI intelligence, is a womanizing bastard with countless lovers.
Faced with an entire school of young female students, she was genuinely worried that Lin Xiuyi might take advantage of the opportunity of psychological treatment to prey on these naive and innocent girls.
Not only will they be in trouble, but their clandestine mission will also be affected.
Lin Xiuyi was also fully aware of Judy's feelings.
He didn't stop Judy from doing it because it would save him a lot of trouble.
As for Judy's concerns, Lin Xiuyi didn't take them to heart at all.
Firstly, he wasn't yet hungry enough to have any ideas about high school students.
Secondly, this is the school that Xiaolan and Yuanzi attend. If he dares to cause even the slightest scandal here, how will he ever have the face to face his two daughters again?
Seeing Lin Xiuyi nod in agreement, Judy immediately smiled and prepared to pull the girl to sit down on the sofa to give her some advice.
Lin Xiuyi casually asked, "By the way, what's that girl's name?"
"Boss..." Judy instantly became alert, staring intently at Lin Xiuyi, afraid that he might be up to something bad.
"I just need to register her name and include it in her medical record."
Lin Xiuyi couldn't help but laugh, his tone tinged with amusement.
"Don't worry, I won't set my sights on these poor little lambs until I've finished eating the fat sheep in front of me."
