Chapter 4 Martial Soul Reversal Heavenly Demon Pill
Chapter 4 Martial Soul Reversal Heavenly Demon Pill
His gaze then fell upon the Consecration Platform, half-buried in the ice and radiating unstable energy fluctuations. He walked over and carefully dug it out of the ice. There were obvious damages and dents on one side of the platform, clearly caused by an impact, but the magic array at its core seemed to be relatively intact, with complex runes faintly visible against the cold material.
"A level nine soul tool, the Conferred God Platform..." Dai Youheng brushed away the ice shards and bloodstains on the surface with his fingers, his eyes flashing with analytical light. "Although it's damaged, the core array structure is extremely valuable for research. Taking it back might be useful in the future. If sold to a high-level soul tool master, it might even be possible to reverse engineer many of the Sun Moon Empire's top soul tool technologies, especially those related to energy sealing and spatial confinement."
He carefully put the damaged Consecration Platform into his storage ring.
Having done all this, he stood still, once again sensing the dormant black medicinal pill spirit within his body and the mountain-like, heavy, blood-red gold-patterned spirit ring upon it. The wind and snow of the far north lashed against him, but were kept at bay by that invisible warm current.
"Snow Empress," he suddenly spoke in his mind, his voice regaining its previous calm, "What is your current condition? How much power can you utilize? What is the range of your perception? Are there any particularly powerful soul beasts nearby?"
The Snow Empress's voice carried a deep weariness, yet still maintained the cool indifference befitting a ruler. "My soul's essence was preserved thanks to the power of the 100,000-year-old snow lotus, and it has not dissipated. However, the sacrifice process resulted in enormous losses, and now my power is less than one-hundredth of what it once was. I need to slowly recover by relying on your soul power within your body. Currently, my perception range... can only cover an area of about 800 meters in radius, and it is very blurry."
"Covering an area of 800 meters? That's enough." Dai Youheng nodded calmly and began planning the route. "My soul power is currently weak, so I must leave the far north as soon as possible. Snow Empress, we are now one body with two souls, sharing both glory and disgrace. Please lend me a hand, guide me, and help me avoid those powerful soul beasts that we cannot handle."
"I'm happy to help with this little thing," Xue Di's voice echoed in his mind, but her tone carried a hint of strangeness. "However... I think you might not really need my help."
Upon hearing this, Dai Youheng was slightly taken aback. "Why is that? There are many soul beasts in the far north, including some that are ten thousand or even a hundred thousand years old. With my current strength, I would surely die if I encountered one."
"Go and see for yourself," the Snow Empress said, seemingly unsure how to describe it accurately. "I will guide you in the direction to leave the far north; just go forth."
Although Dai Youheng had doubts, he still chose to trust the Snow Emperor. Following the direction the Snow Emperor had indicated in his mind, he began to head south. The wind and snow continued, and the cold was biting, but with the protection of the Snow Emperor's soul ring, he did not feel too much discomfort.
After traveling only a few miles, just as the Snow Emperor had predicted, he began to encounter soul beasts.
The first thing they encountered was a herd of Icefield Tyrannosaurus bulls grazing on the snowfield. These spirit beasts were relatively gentle in nature, but there were many of them. The lead bull was enormous, with a single horn on its forehead, and it looked to be at least ten thousand years old. Dai Youheng's heart tightened, and he instinctively wanted to find cover to hide in.
However, something strange happened. The herd of tundra cattle seemed completely oblivious to this human who had suddenly appeared on the ice field.
They continued to graze on the moss beneath the snow, heads bowed. Several calves even skipped past him less than a meter away without him even glancing up. The calves raised their heads, their enormous eyes sweeping across his direction as if they were looking at an ordinary rock, showing no reaction whatsoever, before lowering their heads again.
Dai Youheng was stunned.
He continued on his journey. Along the way, he encountered a Snow Soul Demon Bear pacing alone, its eyes fierce. Judging from its size and the aura it exuded, it possessed at least five thousand years of cultivation. This kind of spirit beast had a keen sense of smell and a brutal nature; it was a notorious hunter in the far north.
Dai Youheng held his breath, his body tense. But the Snow Soul Demon Bear merely twitched its nose, as if it had smelled something, and a strangely human-like expression of confusion appeared on its face. It shook its massive head, snorted, and then simply walked away from Dai Youheng's direction, slowly drifting away.
Once is a coincidence, but twice is definitely not accidental!
On the rest of his journey, he encountered several more groups of soul beasts, ranging from small soul beasts that were ten or a hundred years old to predators that were thousands or tens of thousands of years old. On one occasion, he even saw a giant scorpion that looked as if it were made of ice crystals and was exuding a terrifying aura as it moved through the ice mountains. That was definitely a powerful being that was over fifty thousand years old!
But without exception, all these spirit beasts ignored him. It wasn't that they couldn't see his physical form, but rather that his presence simply couldn't form the concept of "a target to pay attention to" in their perception.
"Strange," Dai Youheng finally couldn't help but ask in his mind, "Snow Empress, have all the soul beasts in your far north... malfunctioned in their visual and sensory systems? Or are they all blind?"
"I think the problem lies with you," the Snow Empress said, her voice filled with curiosity and disbelief. "I've lived for hundreds of thousands of years and have never seen anything so bizarre. Soul beasts are far more sensitive to auras, soul power fluctuations, and vital signs than humans. But they seem to have completely ignored you. It's as if your presence is below their perception threshold, or your aura makes them instinctively repel you and unwilling to investigate further. That's fine, it allows you to leave the far north with absolute safety."
After a pause, Xue Di seemed to remember a crucial question, "There's one more thing I forgot to ask you. Your martial soul is that strange pill, what exactly is it? What are its effects? Food-type martial souls usually lack self-defense capabilities in the early stages."
Dai Youheng opened his palm, and with a thought, the dark, abyss-like black pill reappeared, its blood-red 700,000-year soul ring slowly rotating, radiating a heart-palpitating power fluctuation.
"It's called the Demon Pill," Dai Youheng murmured, sensing the information transmitted by his martial soul. "Its main effect is enhancement."
"Enhancement?" Xue Di's tone revealed a hint of disappointment. "This is not a superior attribute of food-type spirit souls. The value of food-type spirit masters lies in their wide-ranging and sustainable battlefield assistance and support, such as recovery, amplification, and detoxification. A single enhancement effect often has a narrow scope of application and cannot compare to true enhancement and support spirit souls such as the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda."
"This demonic pill of mine seems to be a little different." Dai Youheng carefully sensed the more detailed information coming from the depths of his martial soul, a strange light flashing in his eyes. "Its full name is the Heaven-Defying Demonic Pill."
