Chapter 7 The Frozen Ghost
Chapter 7 The Frozen Ghost
There was a cabinet under the bathroom sink. The cabinet was obviously too small to hold a treasure chest, but Li Yuan still opened it to see if there was anything else useful inside.
It really does.
Shampoo, facial cleanser, toothbrush, toothpaste, water cup.
Li Yuan rummaged through it and found some that were unopened.
This place is isolated from the world, so it's normal to have spares. Li Yuan took out an opened package and squeezed a little onto the ground.
The toiletries packaging had the production date written on it, but he didn't know what year it was and could only determine whether it had expired by checking the actual product.
It looked like it hadn't expired; you could even smell a faint shampoo scent if you got close. But the cabin was clearly quite old, and the items inside couldn't possibly be fresh.
Thinking about this, Li Yuan suddenly realized that apart from the wooden house looking very dilapidated from the outside, there were no signs of rot inside except for the dust. The legs of the tables, chairs and benches showed no signs of decay at all.
Logically, that's impossible. The forest is damp, and those benches don't look very good; there should be some rotten parts.
This cabin is not built directly on the ground, but is suspended about 20 centimeters off the ground.
This is how it was built to avoid moisture and rainwater.
Therefore, it should rot.
But that's not actually the case. Is it a game feature?
That's possible; extended shelf life is a common feature in survival games. Li Yuan nodded, convincing himself, and decided to take these with him when he left.
We'll need toiletries eventually, so since they're here, we might as well take them.
As Li Yuan was rummaging through the items, his old habit kicked in again. He couldn't help but imagine a blue hand that had been dead for many years suddenly appearing and grabbing his wrist!
But even after searching through everything, no cold hand appeared to grab his wrist.
Li Yuan felt he was a bit neurotic, but there was nothing he could do; his imagination was just that rich. Every time he finished watching a horror movie, he would start scaring himself as soon as the lights were turned off.
What if a rotting hand emerges from under the bed, or when you turn over, a white-clad female ghost appears beside you, her eyes streaked with bloody tears, giving you a sinister grin?
Fortunately, he was brave enough, otherwise he would have been scared to death.
Li Yuan smiled to himself, secretly mocking himself for thinking about such things even though he was already in a strange place. Was he not excited enough?
Li Yuan was about to stand up to check the bathtub when he caught a glimpse of a scene out of the corner of his eye that made his hair stand on end. He immediately froze.
The mirror, covered in dust from years of neglect, reflected his blurry figure, but his figure seemed a bit too big, more like two people pressed together than one person!
His heart tightened, and he held his breath to look closely. Suddenly, the alien silhouette clinging to his back slowly turned its head to face the mirror. A half-rotten and decaying face appeared behind the gray shadow, the corner of its mouth torn, curling into a twisted and sinister grin, as if a demon crawling out from the depths of the underworld was silently watching him.
Li Yuan felt a chill run down his spine and his heart pounded!
It turned out that there was a corpse pressed against his back the whole time!
No wonder it's so cold!
The thought of a corpse pressed against his back since he entered the room, staring intently at him and watching his every move sent chills down his spine! Just as Li Yuan was about to make a move, a sudden weight pressed down on his back, followed by a bone-chilling cold that seemed to pierce through his skin.
Li Yuan endured the discomfort and quickly thrust his sword forward. In that short time, he felt his body become somewhat stiff from the cold.
Although Li Yuan reacted quickly, his sword still missed its mark.
After releasing its chilling aura, Yougui disappeared underground. Before disappearing, it glanced at the Money Sword with considerable apprehension and venom in its eyes.
Once the eerie sensation left Li Yuan's body, the chill dissipated considerably, but without a heat source, Li Yuan wouldn't recover for a while.
Li Yuan tried to move his body to warm himself up, while glancing around warily for a sudden, eerie attack.
However, Li Yuan quickly realized that whether or not he could see Yougui at this moment was not important, as Yougui could pass through walls and teleport, and could launch an attack at any time.
By the time you see this, it will be late.
It's probably still hiding in its blind spot, observing its every move. Trying to defend against the eerie creatures with its eyesight is simply impossible.
The only way to counter a sneak attack is at the moment of its sudden occurrence.
At the same time, Li Yuan was also wondering why he hadn't received an attack despite posting the ghostly message for most of the day. She had plenty of opportunities, even as soon as she entered the room.
No, perhaps she has been targeting me all along.
The method, however, does not directly harm the body like the hanging ghost.
Li Yuan thought of the hemp rope used to hang the ghost.
Different kinds of eerie abilities have different characteristics; perhaps this particular eerie ability is related to cold air.
After all, the cold air was released from the back of the person who entered the room.
Li Yuan hopped and skipped around for a while until he felt a little warmer, then continued his scavenging, not changing his mind because of the appearance of the eerie creature.
The exploration continues; the uncanny will not be kind to you just because you behave honestly.
The bathtub was covered by a shower curtain, so you couldn't see what was inside.
Li Yuan used his coin sword to part the bath curtain, but instead of the disheveled white-clad female ghost he had imagined, there was only a wooden tub in the bathtub.
Li Yuan took out a wooden basin, intending to put the toiletries he had just found into it and then take it out.
While Li Yuan was busy, a ghost appeared silently in the bathtub, its bloodshot eyes staring at him with resentment.
Yougui recognized the Money Sword; the person who tricked Xiaodai into freezing to death back then was holding a sword like that.
After all these years, she has finally met him again, and she will definitely not let him go!
Thinking of this, Yu Gui's anger intensified! His bloodshot eyes wished they could fly out of their sockets and pierce through Li Yuan!
Li Yuan felt a chill run down his spine, as if he had been pierced by an invisible needle, and he turned around abruptly.
In the bathtub stood a deathly pale figure. It was a woman wearing a white nightgown, her long hair wet and disheveled, unable to conceal the festering flesh on her face. Her rotting skin peeled away like withered leaves, revealing the dark blue bone beneath. She stood barefoot in the bathtub, the murky water shimmering with wisps of dark red, like a mist of blood.
She was staring intently at him, her eyes bloodshot, her pupils unfathomable, like rifts leading to the underworld. Suddenly, she grinned, revealing an extremely twisted smile! Her lips were almost torn to her ears, and scarlet liquid trickled down her lips, dripping onto her shoulder with a soft "drip, drip" sound.
That laughter was not human, devoid of any warmth; only intense resentment and murderous intent churned within it, as if it were an evil thought crawling out from the depths of hell, solely to drag him into eternal darkness.
Li Yuan felt a chill run down his spine and immediately raised his money sword towards the female ghost. He didn't delve into why the female ghost was so furious with him; he simply snatched... uh... take... borrowed some toiletries in front of her. As for the rest, he hadn't had time to take them yet.
However, it's normal for someone to harbor resentment and anger.
While keeping a watchful eye on the female ghost's next move, Li Yuan subtly shifted his body, as he was now half-squatting on the ground and unable to exert much force.
The female ghost disappeared again, and just as Li Yuan was about to put away his money sword, a chill ran down his spine.
Li Yuan immediately felt as if he had fallen into an ice cave. An extremely cold aura enveloped him, and a stinging pain, like being pricked by needles, spread throughout his body. Then he began to have difficulty breathing, as if something was tightly choking his throat.
In a brief moment, Li Yuan's consciousness even began to blur. He knew that if he didn't act, he would really die here! He struggled to crawl forward and get away from where he was crouching, and then rolled around continuously until his body felt warm.
Just as Li Yuan thought, the feeling of suffocation disappeared after the body warmed up. This strange ability was indeed related to cold, and it could probably freeze a person to death by continuously applying cold.
Holy crap, what the hell is this?!
Li Yuan cursed inwardly!
The Gate of Shock is the Gate of Death!
The steering wheel is completely out of control!
I fucking bastard!
In Li Yuan's eyes, the steering wheel was like a trick to lure him into a strange place, and the gate of shock was like saying, "It's not dangerous here, go in quickly!"
Going in is like entering a dead end!
Li Yuan's guess was correct; the Bagua formation shifted to the Death Gate when he entered the wooden house, which was also the time when Yougui saw the Money Sword.
Li Yuan cursed as he vigorously stretched his body. Now that he knew about Yougui's abilities, he was no longer timid and cautious. After warming up, he began to rob.
