Chapter 110: Blood for Blood
Chapter 110: Blood for Blood
"Alright, go ahead."
"By the way, you guys better pray that the bathrooms in the scene are actually usable. If they're just a demo unit, we'll probably lose money when we get out."
"No, I just checked. I even found white nitrate in the corner of the bathroom wall. This stuff is definitely safe and can be used normally."
Su Ren and his male companion had no choice but to wait where they were.
After the girl and the bald man went into the restroom.
A few minutes later.
The girl walked out of the restroom and saw Su Ren and his male companion playing on their phones out of boredom, but she didn't see the bald guy.
"What about bald Wu Ke?"
"I don't know, maybe it fell into the latrine," the male companion said casually.
Su Ren frowned slightly. His first reaction was that this was illogical. Girls usually take longer to use the toilet than boys. Even the girls had come out, but the bald guy was still not done.
And so, the three of them waited a few more minutes, making sure that even relieving oneself wouldn't take this long, before they finally couldn't sit still any longer.
"Go in and take a look."
"Me?" The male companion pointed to himself, looking bewildered.
I glanced again at the pitch-black men's restroom, where you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.
"If you don't go, am I supposed to go?" Su Ren rolled his eyes. "It's not like it's a particularly difficult task. Don't tell me you can't even handle this little thing."
The male companion was speechless and had no choice but to comply.
This time it only took a few minutes.
Just over ten seconds later, his male companion emerged looking nervous.
"That bald guy, that bald guy seems to have... disappeared."
"I've searched every stall in the restroom, but there's no one there, and there's no exit. It's like they've vanished into thin air; they just disappeared."
"..."
Su Ren fell silent.
"Forget it, didn't they say that the people from the haunted house at Tato Hospital found the staff entrance and went in to secretly photograph trade secrets?"
"Never mind him, we can clear the haunted house ourselves."
That being said, the bald man's sudden disappearance further eroded Su Ren's sense of security. Even he himself didn't realize that when he stepped into the inpatient department, his hands trembled slightly involuntarily, his spine felt cold, and he even subconsciously slowed down his walking.
The first ward.
The second ward.
The third ward...
Su Ren chose the oldest method and checked each room one by one so that he wouldn't miss any key items.
However, the layout of each ward is different.
Some areas were covered with rubble and broken stones.
Some of the bed sheets and duvet covers were not taken away in time and have turned black with dust.
The more Su Ren looked, the stronger the psychological suggestion became that this place was definitely not a deliberately set-up scene, but the real Second Ward.
But how is that possible?
The second ward is located in the eastern suburbs.
Zhang Ze isn't a god; he can't move mountains or fill seas. How could he possibly bring over the exact same scene...?
He was muttering to himself.
Su Ren pushed open the door to the last room on the first floor.
Following the normal room order, this is the last room on the first floor of the inpatient department. If it hadn't been relocated, it should be the closest ward to the third ward.
The appearance of the ward surprised Su Ren greatly.
The entire ward looked like it had been burned. The walls were completely charred, and nothing that could burn was left without a trace. The curtains, sheets, and sofa were all burned down to just metal frames, and the air was filled with a pungent smell of burning.
Is this like bringing a fire scene into a haunted house?!
"The owner of this haunted house is so creepy!"
"If you weren't actually burning something, I doubt you could create such a realistic smell. Maybe we should call 119, just in case there's a real fire?"
"You're overthinking it. Haunted houses these days definitely have smoke detectors, so nothing will happen," Su Ren said.
After saying that, he looked up at the ceiling.
Ok?
There's nothing here...
Su Ren froze.
Could it be that the new site was constructed hastily and fire safety measures were not yet in place?
For a moment, I was lost in thought.
A pool of black water seemed to be emerging from the top of the ceiling. Before you could see it clearly, the black water turned into a small smoke detector, which was firmly embedded in the center of the ceiling.
"Could it be that I misjudged it?"
"How strange..."
"Alright, since it's not really on fire, let's go in and take a look. Don't forget there's a small scene called 'The Burnt Ward,' which is obviously this one."
Su Ren said.
He took the lead and went into the ward first.
The layout of the entire ward is like that of an old-fashioned mental hospital completed in the last century. It is characterized by its neatness and oppressive atmosphere. Even the windows are sealed with iron frames, with only an arm's width allowed to be opened at most, to prevent patients from jumping off the building.
Of course, everything that could prove history was burned to ashes.
Only a straw hat remained, sitting quietly on the bedside table.
Judging from its width, this toy straw hat was bought for a child and was well taken care of by its original owner, as it is undamaged except for being scorched.
"This must be one of the props for this scene."
"It doesn't look special."
Picking up the hat, Su Ren pulled out a handful of charcoal ash, and his lips twitched.
This hat...
It's way too small.
It's basically just a toy for kids.
"Su Ren, I looked it up. The news about the second ward and the fire was reported by the Mystery Investigation Studio a few years ago. It was said that a mental patient named Xiong Qing in the third ward went crazy and set fire to the ward, killing all the patients."
"The deceased were a mother and her child. The only gift the mother gave her child was a straw hat."
Su Ren: ...
"You mean, this hat might be one of the deceased's belongings, which he bought to use as a prop?!"
"Given how utterly depraved the owner of the haunted house is, it's entirely possible!" the woman said seriously.
"Grass!"
Su Ren cursed.
He felt that once he got out, he could demand compensation for emotional distress from the owner of the haunted house.
"Well... not long after that, rumors spread that patients in the second ward witnessed a female ghost being burned to death, which directly led to the relocation of the second ward. More importantly, news later spread that all the patients in the third ward, where the murderer Xiong Qing lived, had joined forces to kill a nurse, and soon even the third ward was abandoned."
"Do you remember? The new haunted house scene across the street owned by Boss Chen... it's right in Ward 3!"
Upon hearing this, Su Ren gasped.
That's incredibly ingenious!
On the surface, the two haunted houses are competitors, but in reality, even the storylines of the new scenes are connected. The victim in the second ward and the perpetrator in the third ward seem to have planned it all.
"Doesn't that mean we can find Xiong Qing's ward in the third ward, or even find clues related to this arson case?" Su Ren said.
As soon as he finished speaking, the straw hat in his hand trembled almost imperceptibly the instant he mentioned Xiong Qing.

Inside the haunted house.
Zhang Ze's system suddenly popped up.
"Holy crap, what the hell did those three clowns do this time? Did they mention some keywords?"
"This is practically forcing me into this!"
