Chapter 13 The Truth About Bloodwave Cape
Chapter 13 The Truth About Bloodwave Cape
Under the dim yellow sky, the two men and two horses walked along the Bloodwave Cape Avenue. On both sides of the road, the trees swayed gently in the wind, making a "rustling" sound.
Tiberius sat upright on his horse, with Zera beside him. Zera was trembling because of the twilight and the fact that only Tiberius was by her side, but she was still relatively obedient for the time being because of Tiberius's "kindness" and intimidation.
"Don't worry!" Tiberius patted Zera on the shoulder and said to her in a very gentle voice, "Maybe the bandits have already run away! If that's the case, we won't have to face them."
After hearing Tiberius's gentle words, Zera calmed down for the time being.
What she didn't know was that Tiberius was very anxious.
[Damn it, the bait's right in front of us, why isn't it coming?] Tiberius cursed inwardly. [It's one thing for the fisherman to go home empty-handed usually, but not now? No way!]
Just as Tiberius was feeling troubled, wondering why the big fish he wanted to catch wasn't taking the bait—
He heard several whistles, not behind him, but on either side of the woods.
Tiberius knew that Vito and Jules' knights were still some distance away from him, and their whistles were not yet within his reach.
【Good, they've finally taken the bait!】 Tiberius was not alarmed; instead, he became even more excited.
"Zera," Tiberius suddenly approached Zera and whispered to her, "Listen, take this iron whistle, put it to your lips, and if anything happens, blow it as hard as you can, understand?"
Tiberius's sudden request made Zera pale with fright.
"They...the kidnappers who abducted the young lady...they're here?" Zera almost burst into tears, hurriedly asking Tiberius.
"Yes," Tiberius told Zera directly, without lying.
"Listen, Sister Zera. I need you to survive. Go tell Lord Lisandra that there are indeed bandits on Bloodwave Cape Road. So, you must get on your horse now and trot away from here!"
"Then what about you..." After hearing Tiberius's words, Zera didn't feel any sense of responsibility or obligation, but rather nearly burst into tears. "And me... If you die, I'll be caught too!"
Tiberius sensed that Zera was a bit troublesome, so he told her to run away instead of talking so much nonsense!
But he still kept smiling.
"Don't worry, you're wearing chainmail, they can't kill you! And as soon as you start whistling, Uncle Jules and the others will come over! You know they're behind us!" Tiberius reassured Zera, then patted the little mare's rump and urged Zera to hurry up.
Tiberius watched as Zera clung tightly to his horse and rode away into the distance, a smile playing on his lips.
[Excellent, the bait is right in front of them, boy and woman... I wonder which one they will choose!] Tiberius thought to himself.
【Run, run, run!】Zera kept repeating the same word in her mind.
She dared not disobey, nor was she willing to disobey Tiberius's orders, but on the other hand, she was terrified of the legend of the disappearance at Bloodwave Cape and the bandits who had abducted the young lady.
Moreover, some people are saying that it wasn't bandits who kidnapped those people, but a terrible demon.
Moreover, those stories were so detailed and vivid, they were incredibly sensational.
Zera held the horse's back as the pony reached a bend in the road; there was a large cliff there, so the road had to turn.
Then, several bandits emerged from the jungle, and Zera screamed.
Those bandits, they're here!
Holding wooden sticks, they swung them threateningly, forcing Zera's horse and Zera on its back into a corner.
Zera shakily pulled out the iron whistle Tiberius had given her, and then blew it with all her might, her face turning bright red.
[Four men!] Tiberius spurred his horse into a gallop, counted the number of bandits, and decisively pulled out his two fully cocked crossbows, raising his hand to fire.
When the bandits saw Tiberius arrive, they did not panic and leave. Instead, they raised their clubs and charged at him, shouting.
Tiberius's first shot hit one of the men in the head, killing him instantly, while the second shot struck the largest of the bandits, the bolt hitting him in the stomach.
However, the other two bandits had already closed in on Tiberius. One of the thin men was about to strike Tiberius with his wooden club.
"Get lost!" Tiberius hissed, and before the stick could strike him, he swung the dagger from his waist; a flash of white light, and the dagger flew straight to the skinny man's neck.
In an instant, blood splattered, flowing onto the ground like a small river.
Tiberius then dismounted and tried to pull out his dagger, but unfortunately, the skinny man's bones got stuck in it.
Tiberius was not strong enough to pull it out immediately. So he put his foot on the corpse's shoulder and tried to pull the dagger out with force.
Unfortunately, he failed.
"Damn it!" Tiberius cursed under his breath. Then he caught a glimpse of another bandit out of the corner of his eye, but he retreated step by step.
Tiberius killed two of his companions in one fell swoop, which would frighten anyone.
Then, out of the corner of his eye, Tiberius saw the burly man carrying the iron-headed club.
Then, Tippi almost popped his eyes out.
Because the burly man seemed oblivious to the pain, he forcefully pulled the crossbow bolt out of his abdomen. Although he was panting in agony, he never let go of the wooden club in his hand.
"Holy crap! Is that even a human?!" Tiberius couldn't help but curse upon seeing the scene. "Did they dig it out?"
A crossbow bolt with barbs hit him in the abdomen at close range, ten meters away. He didn't die and even managed to pull the bolt out.
And it looks like they can keep playing?
Tiberius had no choice but to abandon the idea of drawing his dagger and slowly retreated to the cliff with Zera's hand.
Right at that moment!
With a "thud," the sound of a crossbow bolt piercing flesh suddenly brightened Tiberius's despairing eyes.
Vito is here!
Yes, Vito has arrived!
"Damn, this kid's plan actually worked!" Vito muttered, then raised his crossbow, and arrows whistled through the air. "He actually lured these guys out!"
The arrow whistled past, and one of the bandits was shot through the stomach by Vito's crossbow bolt, which pulled out his intestines.
Now, only the strongest and fiercest man remained on the field; he held a wooden stick, clutching the wound on his stomach. He seemed hesitant, as if contemplating whether to continue the attack or retreat.
"Surrender!" Tiberius yelled, shielding Zera in front of him with one hand. He shouted to the burly man before him, "It's not too late to surrender! Lay down your weapons and you won't be killed!"
But to Tiberius’s surprise, the man seemed to know nothing about the common language. After a moment of contemplation, he still raised his stick, ready to knock Tiberius unconscious.
At this point, Tiberius and Zera had nothing left but the stone wall behind them.
"Pfft."
Suddenly, an arrow pierced the strong man's thigh. But it wasn't Vito's crossbow bolt; it was Jules's bow.
"I want to live!"
Jules put down his bow and gave orders to his knights. "I need to know where their stronghold is! And where Miss Serafina is!"
Finally, after Vito arrived at the battlefield, Jules and his twenty-odd knights also arrived.
As the burly man bent over in pain, Vito slammed his left elbow into his back, then pressed his knee down, rendering him completely immobile.
"Well done, Vito!" Tippi praised.
After that, Tiberius could hardly see the burly robber anymore. After all, now that more than twenty battle-hardened knights were swarming up to serve him, how could he be anything but lucky?
