Chapter 68 Long Live the Demon Lord
The dagger's cold light pierced the darkness, but it missed its intended target.
To the team vice-captain's astonishment, a slender yet powerful hand emerged from between Ivy-Beate's body and the back of the chair, accurately grasping his soft, boneless tentacle wrist.
Before he could figure out what was going on, he suddenly heard a "bang".
The vice-captain's eyes widened involuntarily. Then his whole body went limp, and he could no longer stand, falling to the side with a thud.
An arrow pierced his jaw and went through the top of his skull.
The arrow fletching was still trembling outside his chin.
At the same time, the port authority commander, Burktura, on the opposite side also screamed and fell to the ground.
The deputy captain, still lying on the ground, saw his last moments before losing consciousness: two hands emerged from the shadows under Ivy Beate's armpits, each holding a small crossbow meant for a halfling...
The sudden, excruciating pain made Port Authority Chief Boktura see stars and nearly faint.
His screams became distorted as he struggled to move backward, away from "Ivy-Beate," while reaching out to touch the areas of excruciating pain on his body.
He felt the arrow shaft still lodged outside his body and sticky, hot blood under his ribs.
Another source of intense pain came from between the legs.
Before Port Authority Chief Burktura could touch her, he was horrified to see the changes taking place on "Ivy-Beate" in the chair opposite him.
The dock accountant remained seated upright in her chair, her body tightly bound. However, her two long legs continued to extend and came together, their surfaces covered in black scales, transforming into the thick, long tail of a giant snake.
The snake's tail easily wrapped around Port Master Burktura's waist, choking him until his eyes rolled back in his head.
Port Master Burktura wailed in agony as dirty green and purplish-black scales rapidly climbed onto his palms.
The right hand, now transformed into scales and claws, was raised high, its tip shimmering with magical light, ready to strike the snake's tail that coiled around its waist.
Just then, the black snake's tail lashed out, throwing the port authority, Burktura, away.
"Boom"
With a dull thud, Port Master Burktura slammed his back against the living room wall, knocking off the cheap decorative paintings that the Swango couple had hung on the wall.
When Port Authority Chief Boktura got back up, he was no longer human.
Dirty green and purplish-black scales covered his exposed arms and legs in a mess, while thick, dark brown hair grew from his neck upwards.
Port Master Burktura's face was almost entirely obscured by long hair. His head was elongated, and his mouth was shaped like a dog's. His brow ridges were more prominent, pressing down on his eyes. His once human brown pupils had turned a bestial crimson. The bridge of his nose and the tip of his upturned nose were blood red, while the area between his nostrils and cheekbones was a raised pale blue. The long hair around his mouth was light yellow, like an old man's beard. Four sharp, pale yellow fangs protruded from his lips.
He transformed into a bizarre mandrill with limbs and body covered in scales.
With bloodshot eyes, Port Master Burktura ignored the excruciating pain from his wounds and pulled two blood-soaked crossbow bolts from his ribs and groin, roaring, "I'm going to kill you!"
The imposter Ivy Beate discovers that one of the crossbow bolts in his hand is pierced with a circular object, which appears to be some kind of human tissue.
The ropes binding him broke off piece by piece.
Port Master Burktura stared in shock as the six-armed serpent demon appeared before him in its true form.
He wanted to say something, but his mind was a jumbled mess. He moved his lips several times, but in the end, he could only ask, "Are you... really her?"
The six-armed serpent demon did not answer.
While Port Master Burktura was questioning her, she drew the Demon Slayer Mand and the Shadow Sword and lunged at him.
Although the port manager, who had transformed into a demonic mandrill, was burly, he was exceptionally agile.
The six-armed snake demon had barely grasped his sword when he screamed and leaped backward into the corridor, stretching out his long arms to support his legs against the corridor walls. In the blink of an eye, he had leaped into the kitchen in a posture almost like an ape.
His emerald green vertical pupils contracted slightly.
—How can this guy move so fast! It's like he's been given an acceleration spell!
"Don't open the door!"
The six-armed serpent demon yelled at the bubbles in the room next to the corridor in Ivy Beate's voice as it chased after the demon. Its heavy body, weighing nearly two tons, slithered down the corridor like a giant serpent, making the old floor tiles creak.
Port Authority Chief Burktura leaped and bounded into the kitchen.
—Ivy Beatrice is also a demon! And a high-level demon at that, a six-armed serpent demon!
His mind was a jumbled mess, completely blank for a moment. But he knew she was going to kill him to silence him. If he didn't escape quickly, this would be his final resting place.
The mandrill-like head spun around quickly and fixed its gaze on the kitchen window.
Port Authority Commissioner Burktura couldn't help but burst into a tirade.
—Damn Swango, damn Ivy Beatrice, why did you fix such small windows!
At that moment, the shouts of "Ivy Beatrice" and the sound of the giant snake's body crushing the floor tiles reached his ears.
Port Authority Chief Boktura suddenly turned around and made a series of unintelligible guttural sounds.
The next second, a tall, gray figure appeared out of thin air beside him.
The summoned demon projection was about two meters tall and appeared extremely thin, but it had four arms, each wielding a powerful composite bow. These two enormous composite bows were even longer than the demon itself.
"Kill her!"
Port Master Burktura roared as he gave orders to the arrow demons he had summoned.
His shouting made his voice crack.
At this very moment, the six-armed serpent demon, disguised as Ivy Beatrice, is still swimming down the hallway toward the kitchen.
The Arrow Demon wielded all four arms simultaneously, drawing his bow and nocking an arrow in one fluid motion. In the blink of an eye, eight 1.5-meter-long, cold iron arrows shot out like a machine gun towards the six-armed snake demon in the corridor.
The six-armed serpent demon accelerated its charge.
Just as the great iron arrow was about to hit its target, the arrowhead suddenly entered a multicolored magical distortion field, deviating from its trajectory and disappearing into an unknown location.
A magical light flashed on the face of the Beate family's wax seal ring on the six-armed serpent demon's finger.
It is also an entropy light reflection ring.
It provides protection against ranged attacks for a mobile wearer. As long as the wearer continues to move, the ring generates a distorting force field that makes all ranged attacks difficult to hit.
The next few arrows of cold iron either missed their mark or bounced off the six-armed serpent demon's magical skin and tough scales. With a "thud," the last arrow of cold iron flew past her ear, through the corridor and living room, and struck the front door of the house.
At that moment, the six-armed snake demon rushed into the kitchen.
Mand the Demon Slayer cleaved open the Arrow Demon's chest and abdomen, while the Shadow Strike Sword pierced its throat.
The summoned arrow demon's body began to collapse.
The demonic projections that are summoned disappear once they are killed. Their true forms remain intact in the Abyss, but they will be unable to set foot in the Material World for a hundred years.
The Arrow Demon knew his killing spree was about to end. His black, hole-like eyes stared at the six-armed snake demon who had killed him, his gaze filled with malice and resentment.
To its utter surprise, the six-armed snake demon suddenly spoke to it: "I hate the look in your eyes."
Before the Arrow Demon could disappear, a jade hand ripped off the shoulder strap that had been cut off by the Demon Slayer Mand, along with the three quivers hanging from the strap. The other two jade hands then forcefully pulled out its two enormous and powerful composite bows.
The Arrow Demon, enraged, softened into a pool of foul-smelling black mud.
The black mud vanished without a trace, leaving only a small, sinister black mark on the kitchen floor.
The six-armed serpent demon slightly turned its body, flicking out its giant serpent tail to block the exit from the kitchen to the corridor, while turning its gaze to the port master, Burktura.
The port manager, now transformed into a demonic mandrill, howled fiercely, saliva splattering from between his fangs.
"Long live the Demon Lord! My blood and life are dedicated to the Abyss Sovereign!"
He drew a finely crafted longsword and a rough stone hand axe from his waist and charged at the six-armed serpent demon with a howl.
—Compare this to me?
The six-armed serpent demon sneered inwardly.
The silver-blue light of Mand the Demon Slayer's sword illuminated the kitchen.
Port Master Burktura let out a bloodcurdling scream as his scaly claws, clutching a stone hand axe, fell to the floor.
In the instant of their clash, the six-armed serpent demon not only dodged Boktura's attack but also stabbed Boktura four times, severing his left hand, blinding one of his eyes, and injuring his shoulder and left chest.
However, just after her sword flashed, Port Master Burktura suddenly accelerated, just like when he rushed from the living room into the kitchen, and swept past her with a blood-dripping severed wrist in his hand!
The six-armed serpent demon was taken aback, but it hadn't yet recovered its sword-wielding posture and couldn't stop him!
"Damn it!"
She turned around hastily, but could only see his back as he hopped and leaped like a monkey.
The demonic mandrill almost transformed into a whirlwind, howling as it charged toward the gate.
Just as he was about to rush from the hallway into the living room, a vine suddenly stretched out from the adjacent bedroom, blocking his path not far from the ground, accompanied by a "gurgling" sound.
Her emerald green vertical pupils widened in surprise.
She saw Port Master Burktura running fast, jumping and skipping, when suddenly he tripped, lost his balance, and crashed headfirst into the door with a loud bang. He remained pressed against the door, refusing to come down.
Port Authority Chief Boktura let his arms hang limply, his feet off the ground, and he dangled from the gate, convulsing uncontrollably.
The six-armed serpent demon saw the shaft of the great iron arrow pierce through the back of his hairy head.
A scaly, clawed demonic mandrill hung behind the door, its arms and legs twitching, gradually slowing down until it finally stopped moving.
Chapter 69 The Real Dragon Madness Plan
The vice-captain was awakened by a sharp pain piercing his head.
He barely opened his eyes and saw the six-armed serpent demon, now in the form of Ivy Beate, pulling the crossbow bolts out of its jaw while pouring healing potions into itself.
As the arrow shaft is pulled outward, the barbs of the arrow turn around and snag and slice open the skull and various pierced organs inside the mouth, such as the brain and tongue, causing massive secondary damage to the person being treated.
Because the medication was working and the wound was healing, the arrow would sometimes not come out completely. In these cases, she would rotate the arrow shaft to make the barb more comfortable before continuing to pull it out.
The feeling was no different from being sawed back and forth by a saw.
The deputy captain sobbed, rolling his eyes in agony, tears streaming down his face.
He felt that "Ivy-Beate" didn't need to torture him anymore; this was already the worst form of torture.
When the arrow was fully withdrawn, the vice-captain, his eyes blurry with tears and panting, found himself still in the Beate family's living room, sitting in the chair that "Ivy Beate" had been sitting in.
He also saw that Port Authority Chief Burktura was still hanging stiffly on the door in the pose of a demonic mandrill.
The living room was silent.
The deputy captain noticed that the new dock accountant was following suit and had also wrapped a rope around his chair several times.
Just as he was trying to move his body to test the strength of the ropes binding him, "Ivy-Beate" came to him and, like the port master Burktura before her, pulled up a chair and sat down opposite him.
The deputy captain carefully examined her to see if she had a spare arm. The sights he had seen before he collapsed from his serious injuries seemed like hallucinations, making him unable to believe his eyes.
The six-armed snake demon did not speak.
The moment she absorbed the soul of Port Master Burktura, a massive amount of entirely new demonic knowledge she had never encountered before flooded her brain, slowing down her thinking considerably.
In a daze, she saw a figure standing in the thick black fog, even larger than the bewitching demon she had seen before. She only glanced at it once before feeling a sharp pain in her eyes and quickly looked away.
Laughter, high and low, rang out on either side of her. The six-armed serpent demon felt an indescribable discomfort in its head, as if countless tentacles were tearing at its brain.
The imposter Ivy Beatrice suddenly tilted her head back and almost fell over.
The back of my loose tank top felt icy cold, soaked with cold sweat.
She gasped for breath, breaking free from the nightmarish hallucination, and turned to look at the demonic mandrill corpse hanging on the door, involuntarily shivering.
In addition to knowledge of demons, a new professional legacy also emerged in her mind.
—Professional lineage: Demogorgon's servant.
Port Authority Commissioner Burktura's career has become such a mess because of this very profession.
She now understood how he managed all those incredible maneuvers.
Whether it's Port Master Burktura's summoning of demons, the bizarre scaly mandrill that accelerates its movements and increases its defense in a short time, or the deputy captain's suddenly extended tentacle arms, all are professional abilities bestowed by this strange demon lord's servant inheritance.
Moreover, when the Six-Armed Serpent Demon finished reviewing this professional inheritance, he couldn't help but gasp in shock.
When Port Master Burktura was entangled in the living room by her lower half-snake tail, he tried to swat at her tail with his claws. However, she noticed the magical light shimmering on his claws and warily flung him away.
Only now did she realize that the attack was actually the "Killing Technique," a professional ability passed down through the servants of Demogorgon!
The true strongest professional ability of this inheritance is to petition Demogorgon once a day, but it requires a dozen seconds of prayer to the Demon Lord beforehand.
The six-armed snake demon was still shaken.
In other words, fortunately, her swift and decisive tactics did not give the Port Master, who had transformed into a demonic mandrill, more time to play tricks; otherwise, the "Limited Prayer Spell" would have been waiting to serve her purpose.
