Chapter 266: Light Of The Mind
Chapter 266: Light Of The Mind
Luke felt a chill run from his feet straight to his head, causing him to shiver all over.
"You mean that Demon King knew about Lucian’s reincarnation from the very beginning and did it on purpose?" Luke exclaimed.
"I’m only guessing," Rose said with a wry smile. "After all, I can’t even imagine such an existence, so how could I possibly know that much? I’. simply making some ’reasonable’ inferences."
"However, if he did it intentionally, then the assassination attempt on Lucian’s reincarnation was doomed to fail from the start. Perhaps that Demon King allowed Lucian to reincarnate in order to achieve some goal that we know nothing about."
"I’ll report this speculation immediately and let the higher ups worry about it," Luke said at once.
Rose nodded.
It was only a theory. She believed that the higher ups might already have reached similar conclusions, but until it was confirmed, it meant very little.
What Starfall country and Blue Star needed to do was continue following Noah, steadily growing stronger, and supporting all of his reasonable decisions. At this point, Noah had done nothing to make anyone distrust him. If any major changes were to occur in the future, only top experts like Noah would be capable of dealing with them.
If they didn’t have certain reservations, they would probably have already revealed everything.
----
After returning to Blue Star, Noah immediately looked up at the sky.
[Demonized Monsters (Human Level) : 147 Days ]
"Five more months."
There was plenty of time, and Noah was no longer in a hurry. He hoped the Human Level Calamity would arrive sooner rather than later, but not immediately.
With Blue Star’s current strength, facing a Human Level Civilization would inevitably result in heavy losses unless the strongest Demonized Monster were only Fifth Order experts.
However, given Blue Star’s current level of strength, it was impossible for them to face the weakest Human Level Calamity. Sixth Order Demonized Monster would definitely appear, and not in small numbers. No matter how powerful Noah was, it would be difficult for him to completely wipe out the invading Demonized Monsters without causing immense destruction to Blue Star.
"So many Transcendent Aura descents, yet no new Disasters have attracted,"
In fact, he hoped that a few more Disasters would appear now.
The absence of a Ghost Level Calamity was understandable.
Blue Star possessed a hidden level advantage, making it difficult for Small Calamities to detect. While Medium Calamities could discover it, once they sensed Blue Star’s strength, they wouldn’t bother progressing step by step through a Ghost Level Calamity. Instead, they would directly trigger a Human Level Calamity.
What surprised Noah was that the Medium Calamity behind the Otherworldly Race had not continued its attacks.
Like the Demonized Monsters, the Otherworldly Race originated from a Super large Disaster. Their strength was unquestionably. Even if they couldn’t compare to the Remnant World, they were still operating on the same level.
A minor setback during a Ghost Level Calamity meant nothing to them.
They were fully capable of Triggering a higher level Human Calamity.
"Are they gathering strength to launch a more powerful Human Level Calamity, or have they already given up on Blue Star and turned their attention elsewhere?" Noah wondered.
Not all Disasters were the same.
The Remnant World and the Awakened World were mortal enemies, but that didn’t mean every Calamity World shared the same hostility.
The otherworldly Race’s Disaster would not stubbornly cling to an Awakened World forever.
Shaking his head, Noah pushed the matter aside.
The Disaster wasn’t coming to Blue Star?
That was fine.
He would seek it out himself.
In Noah’s view, using Two World Travel was like playing a gacha games without a pity system. The pool consisted of every world Blue Star could potentially ascend to, while Calamity Worlds were the rare jackpot rewards.
Drawing a Calamity World required exceptional luck.
However, given enough attempts, luck eventually be on his side. Beside, this time he had brought back a skill that could increase his luck.
Within the Civilization Convergence Zone, only consciousness could enter, making it impossible to learn skills there.
The moment he returned, Noah could hardly wait.
Just as he was about to take out the skill, his heart suddenly stirred, causing him to stop.
A moment later, Noah used Two Worlds Travel and entered a distant world.
"One can never be too careful."
Noah’s eyes narrowed thoughtfully.
Blue Star had become well known within the Civilization Convergence Zone and was viewed differently than before. Furthermore, he and Valdrik had only met twice, leaving little foundation for genuine trust.
After entering the world, Noah immediately began learning the skills.
Skill Slots Remaining : 2
Learning Lucky Constitution produced no memories, nor did it cause any noticeable changes to his body. Clearly, the mysterious attribute of luck was something intangible and elusive.
Learning Courage Domain was different.
A flood of memories surged into his mind, all related to understanding, cultivating, and mastering the domain.
Afterward, Noah took out the Moon Mask once again.
Skills were one thing. Even if they contained any residual traces, those traces would disappear after the skill was learned, at most remaining in this world. Equipment, however, was different.
"Insight."
Noah’s gaze fell upon the stone mask, which emitted a faint glow.
Analyzing overly complex causal connections consumed too much energy, making them impossible to maintain for long. However, simply determining whether an item contained any hidden tricks was not particularly difficult.
A moment later, Noah deactivated Insight and nodded slightly.
There were no hidden traps or hidden influences on the mask, so he could use it without concern.
Noah wasn’t in a hurry to return.
He planned to use the designated Perfect-Grade Item reward. He had wanted to use it for a long time, but had postponed the decision in case Valdrik managed to obtain the skill he wanted.
Now that he had returned from the Civilization Convergence Zone, there was no reason to wait any longer.
A constantly shifting purple light appeared in Noah’s hand, resembling the Selectable Perfect-Grade Item he had received before.
[Please select an item type: Skill, Equipment, Material, Prop, Special Item]
"Skill."
[Please select the skill category and attribute.]
"Mind-type, passive skill. The attribute should enhance either the Mind Realm or mental strength."
The purple light began to fluctuate violently as it generated a new skill according to Noah’s specifications.
"Only someone like me would dare choose a skill."
Noah smiled.
Among the five options, Skills and Special Items were not actually the best choices, despite possessing the highest apparent value.
The reason was simple.
Neither of them could be upgraded in quality. At least, Noah had never encountered a method capable of doing so.
Equipment, Materials, and Props, on the other hand, could have their quality upgraded through Sublimation Stones. The value of a tailor-made piece of equipment that could continuously evolve was naturally far greater than that of a Skill or Special Item that would remain fixed forever.
For most people, a Perfect-Grade Skill was undoubtedly a priceless treasure.
However, for experts capable of destroying entire Disasters, its value was somewhat lacking.
The transformation of the purple light continued for quite some time.
This was perfectly normal.
After all, Noah only needed to state his requirements. The system had to handle everything else, including determining how to create the skill, what exact effects and attributes it should possess, and how to maintain its Perfect-Grade quality throughout the process.
Three hours later, a brilliant and stable purple light finally appeared before Noah.
His eyes immediately focused on it.
[Light of the Mind]
[Quality: Perfect]
[Type: Passive Skill]
[Your mind is like an inextinguishable beacon in the darkness. Your mental strength is greatly enhanced.]
"Light of the Mind."
Noah examined the attributes of the newly acquired skill and compared it to Soul Resnonance.
Both belonged to extremely rare skill categories. Both were passive skills, and both shared the same quality. However, their specific attributes differed.
In addition to increasing soul strength, Soul Resonance also enhanced the effectiveness of soul type skills. Light of the Mind, on the other hand, focused solely on increasing mind strength.
This did not mean that Light of the Mind was inferior to Soul Resonance.
Although skills of the same quality could vary in strength, this designated Perfect Grade item had been awarded for destroying the first Small Calamity. As such, it was naturally exceptional, with its power reaching the upper limit of what a Perfect Grade item could offer.
Light of the Mind was naturally a top-tier skill as well.
The difference lay only in their areas of specialization.
Take Soul Resonance as an example. At Level 10, it greatly increases soul strength while also boosting the effectiveness of soul-type skills by 150%.
Increasing soul strength would naturally improve the performance of soul-type skills, but it certainly wouldn’t account for an additional 150% increase. Therefore, the attribute that enhanced soul-type skill effects occupied a significant portion of the skill’s overall power.
Light of the Mind was different.
Its only attribute was increasing mind strength. In other words, the entirety of the skill’s power was concentrated into that single effect.
Under identical conditions, the increase in mind strength provided by Light of the Mind would undoubtedly exceed the increase in soul strength granted by Soul Resonance.
