Chapter 12 The Mysterious Tycoon of the Emerald Coast
Chapter 12 The Mysterious Tycoon of the Emerald Coast
"Was it captured on camera?"
Pepper quickly pulled up the Stark drone, and the distant view was captured.
It's definitely Erica.
The proud girl chanting incantations was no longer in her previous gorgeous dress; instead, after the crimson magic, she changed into a simple long-sleeved shirt and slim black trousers.
Compared to the previous overly ornate and cumbersome design, it allows for greater freedom of movement during combat.
Finally, she wrapped herself in a red cloth that resembled a shawl, embroidered with black patterns.
Those are... banners!
Only high-ranking knights were permitted to wear red and black banners.
And that's what Erika Blantri is proud of.
"I am the one who sounded the horn of courage, a descendant of the black-clad warriors. My sword will not be broken unless my heart submits!"
"Lionheart, this is the time for victory."
……
[A shock from Pepper Potts, earning a small amount of Mischief Points]
The Stark drone's sound recording capabilities are unparalleled.
Pepper felt the girl leaping across the ruins as if she were right next to him, charging towards the burning wild boar that was larger than a mountain.
A knight?!
Courage?!
Just like Tony, the idiot in the Avengers, doing such dangerous things!
"I'm sorry, it seems we can't continue this discussion. Could you please return my belongings?"
Pepper reached out his hand, indicating that he wanted the stone slab back.
"Oh, I see. You appeared before me because you were chasing after the witch."
"Witch?!"
Another strange title, so who exactly is this boy in front of me?!
Pepper was puzzled when the boy in front of her suddenly burst into laughter and raised the stone slab.
"You say this is yours, fine!"
"Whatever the reason, as long as you can come to me with this, it seems you are destined to be a great hero."
The boy looked like he understood, and he carefully examined the marks on the stone slab.
"At least... that's what the thief said."
hero? !
If Iron Man is the hero we're talking about, then Tony would be very happy.
Unfortunately, Pepper wasn't.
"I am not a hero."
"I just happened to come here, entrusted with the task of carrying the stone slab, and got involved in all of this."
"If I had to say, it belongs to Stark Industries."
Pepper is a very meticulous person, and that's really what she thinks.
"Alright, whatever the reason, I'll leave it with you for now."
"Put it here with me?"
"I've already said this originally belonged to Tony..."
"Buzz".
A sudden, intense ringing in his ears and a blinding white light enveloped Pepper's entire field of vision.
What happened?!
In a daze, Pepper heard the neighing of some animal—was it…a horse?!
A pure white horse, so out of place with its surroundings, appeared beside her, its body enveloped in the same faint light as the boy from before.
"Hey, where is he?!"
Let's turn back to the beginning.
The strange purple-haired boy had just disappeared along with the white horse.
All that remained was the slate, which somehow ended up back in Pepper's hands.
Before I could think about it further, a new situation arose.
"what!"
The Stark drone received a scream from Erika.
As the observation distance increased, it was clearly recorded that a tornado-like gale raged through the harbor, and the flames on the wild boar's body, along with the blonde girl, slammed it hard into the ruins.
"It's too late!"
Pepper watched all of this unfold.
At this critical moment, the Stark drone turned yellow!
"Special security scenario detected. Protection mode activated!"
……
The small house in front of the station.
Erica and Pepper sat on a bench to rest.
Running through the ruins in high heels was exhausting; she felt like her feet were ruined.
To be honest, Pepper had forgotten when the last time she had such a miserable business trip was.
Perhaps she just became Tony's assistant?
"I came here to investigate the traces of the disobedient gods that appeared in various parts of Sardinia about three days ago."
"Then I met you, a strange woman who knew nothing about the world yet carried a grimoire from the Age of Gods."
Perhaps because she was rescued by Stark's drone, Erica awkwardly explained the reason.
She reached under the roof panel of the hut and caught the dripping rainwater.
"There is no rain in Sardinia."
"This incessant rain has only one meaning: a war of the gods is about to break out!"
Putting aside the fact that it's a very impolite term to refer to a strange woman.
Take the War of the Gods, for example?!
The wild boar incident was already outrageous enough, is there something else going on?
"If that monster hadn't disappeared on its own, I don't know how I would have saved you."
"Oh...this is terrible."
"Still no signal. If only I could get in touch with Tony."
Pepper dialed the satellite phone countless times, but Jarvis didn't respond at all.
"Why don't you understand? It's not a monster, it's a god, a god who disobeys!"
"A disobedient god?"
"That's right, a disobedient god who brings calamity to the world, a sacred being who stands above mankind."
This wasn't the first time Pepper had heard this; the girl had mentioned it when the giant boar appeared.
"This refers to gods who have escaped from the courtyard of mythology and have manifested themselves on earth without permission. They will bring disasters corresponding to their own attributes."
Erica's expression was serious, and she looked as if she were reciting a text to Pepper.
If even those from prestigious magic families have homework, then this must be her usual assignment.
That's what Pepper thought.
"The land where the sun god appears may become a scorching hell, the appearance of the sea god will bring a great flood, and if the god of war comes, it is not surprising that war may break out at any time."
"The disobedient gods existed before the birth of human history."
That makes a lot of sense, but Pepper has a question.
"Why has no one ever heard of the god you speak of!"
"That's because they're not qualified. Only those with magic can recognize those who don't obey the gods. To ordinary people, they're just seen as natural disasters."
Erica stood up, put her hands on her hips, and pointed at Pepper, or more accurately, at the slate in her arms.
"You possess such a powerful magic book, and you don't even know this!"
"So from the beginning I said that I was just bringing this stone slab to find someone."
Pepper felt exhausted again. Even when she was at Stark Industries, she never felt this tired, even when she worked non-stop for three days and three nights straight!
Who are you looking for?
Erica finally got to the point with a crucial question.
Pepper hesitated for a moment, then pulled out her work log from her bag. The signature regarding the mysterious tycoon was…
Zeppeli.
"William Antonio Zeppeli".
