That afternoon, Penelope found Professor Lupin.
Although she didn't understand why the professor looked so weak, she easily borrowed Boggart's money; Professor Lupin was always very easy to talk to.
Now that the classrooms and teaching materials were all arranged, Levin announced the start of tonight's training camp before dinner.
This is where Penelope's other role comes into play.
As the student council president, she has the duty to supervise the young wizards' arrival and departure from get out of class and their timely return to the lounge during this emergency.
On the other hand, as long as she's there watching over things, Levin's study group can stay in class until late without anyone bothering them.
During dinner, the young Ravenclaw wizards excitedly discussed the evening's training session, all of them eagerly anticipating it.
After dinner, almost half of the Ravenclaws had gathered in the Charms classroom, making it somewhat crowded.
The Spells classroom had been set up as a training ground in advance, and at the very back of the classroom was an old wooden cabinet with a rustic design.
A sharp-eyed eagle recognized it as the one in the faculty and staff lounge.
Boggart, sensing the liveliness outside, became excited and slammed the cabinet loudly.
The first to appear was not Levin, but Penelope Crivat.
The girl, exuding the air of a student council president, strode onto the central stage and used her voice to project a powerful booming tone.
"Everyone here, look here!"
She made a striking first impression, immediately capturing the attention of everyone present.
The previously noisy classroom suddenly fell silent, and only her voice could be heard.
“I am Penelope Crivat, your student council president. It’s great to see so many Ravenclaws here.”
"First of all, I want to reiterate the original purpose of establishing this study group—we all know that because of Sirius's escape, the Ministry of Magic sent Dementors to guard the area around the school to provide us with protection."
"However, the reality is quite the opposite. As early as the first day of school, quite a few young wizards were harmed by Dementors, and on Halloween Eve, two of our companions were attacked by Dementors. Clearly, the Ministry of Magic cannot completely control their evil minions."
On the podium, Penelope sarcastically criticized the Ministry of Magic's incompetence, while the Ravenclaws turned their attention to Steve and Kevin beside the podium. They were the best living advertisements for the study group, and everyone empathized with their plight.
"Under these circumstances, none of us can guarantee when they might storm onto campus and cause us harm again. Therefore, with Professor Flitwick's permission, we have decided to hold a training session every Saturday evening to learn the Patronus Charm."
Penelope's speech was well-organized and addressed the concerns of the young wizards, drawing thunderous applause from the audience.
Levin even noticed that even Luna, who was usually indifferent to everything, started clapping, clearly quite interested.
When the applause began to thin out, Penelope continued:
"Fortunately, we in Ravenclaw have a genius student: Levin Green. Although he's only a third-year student, he has more experience fighting magical creatures than anyone else."
"—He was the first wizard in history to kill a chimera and survive. Last semester, he and two other companions killed a basilisk, and during the summer vacation, he participated in a dragon-slaying operation organized by the Ministry of Magic."
"He has also achieved remarkable success in dealing with Dementors: on the Hogwarts Express, he led us to successfully fend off dozens of hungry Dementors, so you, as his classmate, we have invited him to be our teacher!"
The applause from the audience was even more intense, and the chances were more than ten times greater than last time.
Finally, it's time for the armor-stacking process: "The study group operates on a voluntary basis. The young wizards who are participating now are all doing so voluntarily. In the future, we may add a review process to recruit new members. But everyone is free to leave."
"During the learning group's instruction, there may be certain dangerous situations. Also, for teaching purposes, the group will assign tasks as needed and implement certain rewards and punishments. Mr. Levin Green, the group leader, has the right to expel members who disobey instructions, and all group members retain the right to leave freely."
"Those who can abide by the above principles, please raise your hands. As long as you all agree, this study group will be officially established."
As soon as she finished speaking, hands shot up from the audience without hesitation, not a single one, not even the seventh-year wizards facing graduation.
Levin's long-standing prestige and a series of achievements have earned him the trust of the community.
Chapter 197 Levin's Three Assistants
After Penelope finished saying all the bad things, it was finally the turn of the person in charge to take the stage.
"Thank you all for choosing me to be the teacher of this study group. It's a great honor for me," Levin said humbly at the beginning, earning a round of applause.
"Since everyone trusts me so much, I will naturally not let you down. In the study group, I will do my best to teach you spells to deal with Dementors—of course, there may be other knowledge if you need it."
"In short, I hope everyone gains something from the study group, and the Dementors will no longer be a threat to us!"
Another round of applause and cheers followed; what Levin said was exactly what they wanted to achieve.
After the applause subsided, Levin continued, "Of course, one tree cannot make a forest. I can't maintain a study group by myself alone. So I'd like to introduce you to my assistant."
"First of all, there is our student council president, Ms. Penelope Crivate. I am honored that she took time out of her busy studies and work to help me set up this study group. She really provided a lot of help in the process of setting up the group."
"In the following learning sessions, she will be responsible for organizing the group's tasks, such as attendance, issuing notices, and organizing activities. If anyone needs to take leave, or wants to join or leave the study group, please remember to contact her."
As Levin spoke, Penelope stood to Levin's left, her expression serious, exuding an authoritative and commanding presence.
Seeing that everyone in room 733 understood Penelope's work, Levin continued his explanation.
"Secondly, I'd like to introduce my most important teaching assistant, Miss Cirira Rayanren. Everyone knows that Cirira and I are the best partners on the Quidditch pitch, but what you may not know is that she's also my best comrade-in-arms. Every time I fight magical creatures, she's always by my side—I can always trust her with my back..."
Give it to her.
"Therefore, you can trust her as much as you trust me when it comes to magical skills. In future lessons, she will not only serve as my demonstration assistant, but will also help me guide you in specific spellcasting techniques."
Cirella walked onto the stage from the crowd and stood to Levin's right, which sparked a cheer.
As a Ravenclaw Quidditch star and widely considered one of the most beautiful girls, she is still very popular.
"My third assistant may be a little special, but I dare say most of you will like her. She is my most important magical pet, Aiwu."
No sooner had Levin finished speaking than the little dragon eagerly darted from behind onto Levin's shoulder, proudly spreading her beautiful wings.
"Wu's power—her healing abilities—I'm sure everyone witnessed them the night before last."
Another thunderous applause erupted from the audience. In Ravenclaw, almost no one disliked Iowa.
This became even more true after Aiwu successfully rescued Steve and Kevin.
That concludes Levin's explanation of the entire study group's top-level structure.
Of these, Penelope holds the most important position.
It's fair to say that Levin essentially entrusted her with the most important tasks of the team.
It seems that she holds the power of life and death over the entire study group?
There is, of course, a reason for this:
In Levin's view, the work of organizing personnel is the easiest way to offend people.
In this situation, if Levin were to do this work himself, it would diminish his prestige. It would be better for him to delegate the task to others and simply be a shining leader.
As for the possibility that Penelope might use this power to sideline Levin... or at least influence Levin's decisions, that's impossible.
Essentially, this study group is built on two foundations.
First, the young wizards' fear of Dementors.
Secondly, it was Levin himself, or rather, his prestige.
Therefore, wherever Levin was, that was where the study group was.
If Levin isn't there, the study group will disband on the spot.
In this situation, Levin has absolutely no need to sacrifice his more important prestige for the sake of so-called actual control.
Therefore, outsourcing important tasks and becoming a hands-off (or ineffective) manager is a better option.
Finally, Levin said:
"Because our learning time is limited and we only have one teaching tool, our training opportunity is extremely valuable, and we hope that every student will cherish it."
"That's why we'll limit the number of places available until the facilities and equipment are further improved, and we won't be accepting applications from other colleges for the time being."
Upon hearing this, Levin could see that the expressions of the young wizards below had changed.
His deliberate creation of the "other" and his rejection of the "other" gave the young wizards the illusion of being "chosen".
They were immediately filled with a strong sense of pride.
“You’re right, Levin, we won’t let them join!”
We have Levin!
Let them be envious!
At this moment, this study group seemed to have changed from a study session to a political party or association.
Levin seemed to have stopped being the group's teacher and started acting as the leader of the club.
However, almost none of the young wizards present could perceive Levin's intention.
Besides Penelope, Levin could sense that the other woman had just been clearly surprised, and the way she looked at him had become increasingly complicated.
After the cheers finally subsided, Levin arranged for his assistants to step down from the podium and officially began his lecture.
"Before we begin our practice, in order to accommodate the younger students, I think we need to first learn about Dementors and the Patronus Charm."
"So, can anyone tell us about Dementors?"
Levin looked down at the students below the podium and asked a question like a real professor.
Zhang Qiu was the first to raise her hand; naturally, she wanted to give Levin's class her full support.
Levin nodded to her.
The girl immediately stood up and said, "Dementors are dark creatures, considered by people to be the ugliest things in the world. When a Dementor gets close, all the good feelings and all the happy memories will be sucked away from you, causing you to feel depressed and hopeless."
“Well said, Cho Chang,” Levin nodded, “but I’m sorry, just like last semester, I still don’t have the authority to give you extra points.”
His teasing elicited a burst of laughter, and Zhang Qiu happily sat down.
Levin continued, "But it's alright. As a personal reward, I'll give you a homemade cookie after class. Aiwu loves them."
"So, does anyone else have anything to add?"
Surprisingly, the second person to raise their hand was Luna, the crazy girl. You see, she almost never does that in the professors' classes.
After Levin nodded, Luna recited a long passage in a hymn-like manner: "Besides sucking away positive emotions, Dementors have another, and most vicious, ability: the Dementor's kiss. They can suck out a person's soul. The victim is left with only an empty shell, no longer conscious, unable to recover, worse than death."
“Thank you, Miss Lovegood, that’s very clear.” Levin smiled and thanked her for her explanation.
"Now that everyone understands the danger of Dementors and how they harm humans, we can talk about the spells to banish them."
