If you want speed, you have to spend money.
Normally, unless it's a very large transaction, the buyer should pay for expedited processing, just like when buying a car.
But the female saleswoman never explicitly or implicitly suggested to Ms. Su that she needed to pay money, which was quite clever.
Three hours later, all the formalities were completed, and the Su family owned their first property after time travel.
"If you need anything else, feel free to contact me anytime." The saleswoman handed over her business card to Ms. Su as she handed over the relevant documents and keys.
Su handed the paperwork and keys to Olivia, opened his wallet and put the saleswoman's business card away. The saleswoman's eyes lit up and her smile became even brighter.
It wasn't that the saleswoman had any ulterior motives, although she could have, but she wanted to maintain contact with the Su family. Of course, she wanted to win over such a wealthy and straightforward client.
After putting away the business cards, Su did not close her wallet. Instead, she took out a thick wad of green US dollars.
"I don't remember the exact amount, maybe 20,000? 30,000? Anyway, thank you for your service, this is your service fee."
Su smiled and handed it to the saleswoman, then turned and prepared to leave with Olivia.
The saleswoman reacted much faster than Becky, the waitress, and immediately ran over to open the door ahead of time. "Thank you for your recognition. Please feel free to call me anytime if you need anything. My phone is on 24/7."
Ms. Su nodded slightly and got into the car with Olivia.
When the car drove away, the female salesperson was still standing at the door and hadn't gone inside.
"Her phone is on 24/7, and she can call anytime she needs anything. Tsk tsk, if you call her at midnight, do you think she'll keep your appointment?" Olivia joked with a laugh as she drove.
"How come you twist what was meant to be nice? Be honest and positive. Even if she does keep the appointment, I won't call her."
"Really?"
"What do you say?"
"Are you sick in the head, or do you have some kind of sexual orientation problem? Why don't you act like a man at all?"
"You're the one who's sick, you're the one with questionable sexual orientation, you're not even like a woman!"
"I said you're not like a man because you seem uninterested in women. I'm so beautiful, and you don't even have any feelings for me."
"You're not like a woman at all. I'm so rich, and I haven't seen you have any designs on me."
"Fake."
Olivia cursed angrily, then, as if she had thought of something, she laughed.
……
P.S.: Thank you to the brothers for the tips and votes urging me to update. Although the results weren't ideal, and although I've been feeling anxious about the new book, your support kept me from losing faith and let me know that there are still people who support me.
Chapter 17 Teddy, is that name for real? "This is the place."
Olivia glanced outside a few times, and after confirming the situation, she turned off the engine and parked the car.
This is a typical European and American style villa, with two floors, a garage, and an attic. Although it does not have a closed courtyard, the lawn in front of the house is large, giving people a lush and vibrant feeling.
Upon entering the house, the basic furniture and facilities were all there, covered with white dust cloths. The floor was fairly clean, indicating that it was cleaned regularly.
The first floor has a living room, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom, with a door on the right leading to the garage; the second floor has three bedrooms, a bathroom, and a hidden ladder along the edge of the hallway leading directly to the attic.
Overall, I'm fairly satisfied.
"Dong dong dong."
Just as Su was about to have Olivia park the car, there was a knock on the door.
Olivia went over to open the door.
There were three people standing outside the door: a man, a woman, and a little girl.
"Hi, my name is Amy, this is my husband Bob and daughter Teddy, we live next door."
"Hi." Bob smiled and nodded to the two of them.
The little girl waved her hand. "Hello, I'm Teddy."
Teddy, is that a name for real?
"My name is Su, and this is Olivia. Hello," Su replied with a smile.
"This is an apple pie I made. You're welcome to bring it over."
Amy handed the gifts she brought to Olivia and asked enthusiastically, "I don't think I saw any of your luggage. When are you officially moving in? I can introduce you to the neighbors nearby; they're all very nice people. Or we could throw a party; the community hasn't had one in a long time."
No parties, no America!
In the United States, all kinds of parties are constantly emerging, and most people's lives, work, friendships, and entertainment are closely linked to parties.
Su declined Amy's offer, explaining, "We won't be staying here permanently for a while. In fact, we're heading to the airport after parking the car, and we're not sure when we'll be back."
“Oh, I see… No problem, whenever you’re ready to move in, we can help.” Amy said with a smile, “I’m a nurse, Bob runs a pest control company and is also the coach of the school basketball team, what about you?”
"I'd say it's in the investment industry."
Buying houses, buying a whole bunch of houses, shouldn't that count as investing in the real estate industry? Even though it's just buying, and there's no intention to sell!
"Do you know anyone who works for a cleaning company? They regularly clean the house, mow the lawn, and maintain the property."
Ms. Su paused briefly before continuing, "If you have the time and are willing, I can entrust it to you. I'm not very clear about the fees of cleaning companies, but I'm willing to pay you according to this standard. You are the first neighbors I've come into contact with. In our Eastern culture, there's a saying: 'A close neighbor is worse than a distant relative.'"
“A close neighbor is worse than a distant relative, I like that saying.” Bob said with a smile, “Since you are willing to trust us, we are happy to take on this job. I will find out the specific fees and then tell you. Also, pest control is free and will not be included in the calculation.”
"Thank you."
Ms. Su exchanged phone numbers with Bob and gave him a key. She was even prepared to sign a contract with Ms. Su to show her seriousness, but Ms. Su refused.
"Forget about the contract, but if it's not too much trouble, could you give us a ride to the airport?"
“Of course, no problem.” Bob agreed without hesitation.
Olivia drove the car into the garage, packed their luggage, and then she and Sue rode in Bob's big pickup truck to the airport.
A few hours later, Sue and Olivia took a taxi from Kendrick Airport to the Condor Hotel in Brooklyn.
Going to Brooklyn was Sue's decision, and the Condor Hotel was recommended by the driver.
Upon arriving at the hotel, Su was somewhat disappointed. The driver had described it in glowing terms, but the hotel's class and environment were not as high-end as advertised, and the price was quite reasonable.
A king-size one-bedroom suite, 50 square meters in size, priced at less than a thousand US dollars.
From another perspective, the driver didn't actually rip anyone off.
For this price and this level of quality, it's really quite good.
After booking two suites and withdrawing some cash from the hotel's ATM, Sue and Olivia went back to their rooms to settle in. Half an hour later, they left the hotel with a complimentary guide to the surrounding area.
Brooklyn is just a borough of New York, not even a bustling one, but for Sue, it was the most lively place he had ever been since his time travel.
Its most distinctive feature is its liveliness and large crowds!
The bustling crowds reminded Su of the feeling of strolling the streets before her time travel.
The journey from California to Colorado took them through many places, and Su's biggest impression was that the land was vast and sparsely populated. Cities were better, but many towns and villages had a total population that was less than that of an ordinary high school he attended before his transmigration.
Diversity was Su's second impression.
Whether it's pedestrians on the street or shops around, you can see people of all races and foreign characteristics everywhere. In just a few blocks, Su found three or four Chinese restaurants and even dragged Olivia to try one. Olivia thought the food was pretty good, but Su left disappointed. To be honest, the taste was hard to describe and definitely not authentic Chinese food.
As night falls, the lights are on.
There are fewer and fewer pedestrians on the streets, and more and more homeless people on the roadside.
Olivia frowned slightly as more and more ill-intentioned gazes fell upon her. She moved closer to Su Shi and whispered, "It's too late, we should go back."
Su Shi naturally noticed the situation around him, and quite a few ill-intentioned glances were directed at him.
With an Asian face, dressed in designer clothes, and accompanied by a beautiful woman, he was like a firefly in the dark, impossible to miss.
Su had already sensed that someone was following them slowly, seemingly unintentionally.
"Let's take a taxi back." Su had no intention of teaching them a lesson, and she and Olivia stopped by the roadside to hail a cab.
They couldn't flag down a taxi, but a police car pulled up in front of them.
……
PS: Thanks for the donations, everyone! I wonder if anyone can guess which American TV series this neighboring family is from.
Chapter 18 The Werewolf as a Policeman A black police officer with a buzz cut got out of the car and approached Sue and Olivia. His gaze swept over them and gave a warning look to the group of men with ill intentions. He didn't look away until the men left reluctantly.
"Out-of-towners shouldn't come here at night, especially wealthy ones," Luke warned seriously, then turned and said, "Where are you going? I'll give you a ride."
"No need, we'll take a taxi and leave." Olivia politely declined. As a potential hitman with a murder charge on his hands, she wasn't flustered in front of the police, but she didn't want to have any more dealings with them.
Luke turned around and pointed behind them: "I'm leaving. They won't give you a chance to get a taxi."
"The Bald Eagle Hotel, thank you."
Su patted Olivia on the shoulder, smiled and nodded to the officer, then walked towards the passenger door.
Olivia frowned slightly, said nothing more, and sat in the back seat.
Not right.
Sue's reaction was not right.
Neither he nor Su was worried about those street thugs, so there was no need to take a police car. Even if they did take a car, they should sit together. But Su took the initiative to sit in the passenger seat. What was he going to do?
Luke was unaware of Sue's unusual behavior and Olivia's suspicions. To him, the two were just two young people he happened to encounter in his jurisdiction after get off work who almost got into trouble.
"My name is Su. What is your name, officer?" Su turned slightly to the side, looking at the other person with interest.
"Luke."
"Officer Luke, do you believe in fate?" Su asked with interest.
“I’m a policeman, and having a connection with me might not be a good thing. Also, you’d better stop looking at me like that; I’m not a monkey in a zoo.” Luke was somewhat displeased; the young man’s gaze made him very uncomfortable.
"Indeed, you are not a monkey."
Sue seemed not to have caught the warning in Luke's words, and turned to wink at Olivia: "Monkeys in the zoo are nothing special, what's special is a wolf who's a policeman."
squeak! ! !
Luke slammed on the brakes.
