Chapter 42 A Brief Peace
Cuckoos are busy in the south and north of the village, and the fragrance of rice blossoms fills the air around the village.

After the wedding, everyone went their separate ways to cultivate, occasionally gathering together. The five years of Sun Wukong and Chi-Chi's married life were filled with both sweetness and troubles.
After their marriage, the couple settled in Baozi Mountain, and life was initially quite pleasant. Chi-Chi played the role of a virtuous wife, managing all the household affairs meticulously. A little over a month later, Qiqi became pregnant, and the Bull Demon King moved in to help take care of her. For convenience, the Bull Demon King stayed at Shang Yun's house. The Bull Demon King was extremely grateful to this person who had given everything to help his child and family.
Soon after, Chi-Chi went into labor, and Bulma helped find the best hospital for her. To commemorate his deceased grandfather, Goku named the child Son Gohan. Gohan's arrival brought much joy to everyone, but also kept Chi-Chi even busier, as she devoted a great deal of energy to caring for and educating Gohan.
However, as time went on, problems gradually emerged. As a martial arts fanatic, Goku's enthusiasm for training never waned. He often went out to train or participate in martial arts tournaments, paying less attention to and contributing less to his family. This caused Chi-Chi considerable resentment, who hoped that Goku could take on the responsibility of supporting the family. However, Goku believed that training was for the purpose of protecting the Earth, which often led to conflicts between the two.
The two also disagreed on how to raise their child. Chi-Chi hoped Gohan would become a scholar and have a stable life in the future, and did not encourage him to practice martial arts, while Goku hoped that Gohan would inherit his martial arts talent. This difference became more obvious after Gohan showed great martial arts potential. Chi-Chi was worried that Gohan would follow in Goku's footsteps and neglect his studies, while Goku hoped to properly cultivate Gohan's fighting ability.
Every time the two had a conflict, Shang Yun would take Sun Wukong away to cultivate, while the Bull Demon King would go to coax his daughter.
Despite their many conflicts, Chi-Chi and Goku still share a deep bond. Chi-Chi prepares elaborate meals for Goku when he returns from his training, does his laundry, cooks for him, and takes care of his daily needs. Goku, in turn, shows his care and protection for his family in crucial moments.
Life, though mundane, is full of stories. Goku retains his pure and persistent heart, pursuing the ultimate in martial arts. Chi-Chi, meanwhile, strives to maintain stability in the family and nurture her children amidst the琐事 (trivial matters) of daily life. Although their personalities and lifestyles are completely different, it is precisely this complementarity that allows their marriage to experience the joys and sorrows of life together, amidst its ups and downs.
Seeing Sun Wukong's family enjoying themselves, Shang Yun couldn't help but feel emotional. He thought of his own wife and children and recalled their past life. Although there were arguments and complaints, they were ultimately loving. Even the best couples will have conflicts and arguments. They would quarrel in bed and make up in bed. What grudges could a husband and wife have? Why didn't he see that clearly back then?
Faced with this immense psychological gap, Shang Yun lost all interest in cultivation and was unable to comprehend the Heart Sutra. He decided to travel and cultivate, to continue experiencing the myriad aspects of life. Thus, Shangyun spent most of his time traveling around the world, experiencing the local customs and cultures. Sometimes he would stay for a few days, and sometimes he would stay in a place for several months. Of course, every year on Son Gohan's birthday, Shangyun would return to celebrate with him, bringing stories and toys from all over the world.
Perhaps Shang Yun missed his child too much, treating Son Gohan as his own child, always wanting to give him the best and always wanting to spend time with him. But Shang Yun also knew that Son Gohan was not his child, and he couldn't get too close to him; Son Gohan had his own parents.
One day, Shang Yun thought about the flaw in his rebirth, or rather, his flaw as a human being: he needed oxygen to survive. Shang Yun could sense several powerful ki approaching from all around, presumably because Goku and the others knew someone was using the Dragon Balls and had come to see who it was.
Shang Yun wished to be able to survive in any environment, but Shenlong said it was impossible. So Shang Yun chose to make himself no longer dependent on oxygen and be able to survive in the universe.
This time, Shenron helped fulfill the wish. The seven Dragon Balls turned into stones and flew out in all directions. Shang Yun grabbed the four-star Dragon Ball as it flew out.
The sky brightened instantly, and Goku, Krillin, Tien Shinhan, Yamcha, and even Piccolo arrived. Everyone except Goku was surprised to see Shang Yun. They never expected that someone as detached as Shang Yun would use the Dragon Balls to make a wish.
Upon seeing the group, Shang Yun knew their thoughts and doubts. After greeting them, he said, "My cultivation has reached a bottleneck. I want to go to the universe outside of Earth to gain some insights, so I asked the dragon god to allow me to survive in the universe."
Everyone suddenly realized that this was something Shang Yun was capable of doing. After exchanging pleasantries for a while, they all went back to cultivate.
Shang Yun returned the Dragon Radar to Bulma, then bought two large boxes of capsules from Bulma, bought a box of food and water, filled a box with fish from the sea, and flew to Korin Tower to exchange them for the latest batch of Senzu Beans with Master Korin.
