Chapter 15 Joining the Akatsuki
Chapter 15 Joining the Akatsuki
The flames raged fiercely, and the water dragon roared menacingly.
Water and fire collided, and a large amount of mist obscured the two of them. Yahiko and the others took a few steps back and continued to watch the battle, showing no intention of intervening.
Using the fog as cover, Ooka Shin used the Fog Concealment Technique, making the fog even thicker and obscuring the vision of both sides. The Buddha could only see a meter or two in front of him, and he watched the surrounding fog with full vigilance.
Ooka Nobukatsu learned the art of concealing himself in the mist and the basic techniques for fighting in the fog from Yamori, so the dense fog had little effect on him.
Not only that, Ooka Shin also used Shadow Clone Jutsu to attack the Buddha from both the front and the back.
The Buddha suddenly felt immense pressure, constantly fending off attacks within the fog, with no chance to escape the thick mist.
"I didn't expect this kid to have such strength. I think we should let him join us."
With purple stripes painted on his face, Kyusuke watched the figures constantly battling in the mist and shared his thoughts.
Konan, being more observant, expressed her concerns: "We should still be careful. His taijutsu, swordsmanship, and ninjutsu are all quite good. He has clearly received excellent training, so his background must be extraordinary."
Yahiko, however, seemed quite pleased: "Hehehe, don't worry too much. We're just a newly formed small organization, not worth the attention of those ninja villages. If you have any questions, just ask him later."
“It seems you’ve already decided to let him join.” Seeing that Yahiko had made a decision, Konan didn’t object, but instead looked at Nagato: “How did the battle go?”
Nagato possesses the Rinnegan, and although he hasn't fully developed its abilities, he can still see clearly what's happening in the fog.
"The opponent is using shadow clones, and the Great Buddha is currently at a disadvantage. However, the opponent has consumed a lot of chakra and cannot hold on for long."
Although Ooka Shin has a lot of chakra, far exceeding most of his peers, the Great Buddha is not weak; his chakra and strength are still superior to Ooka Shin's.
Despite Ooka Shin's relentless attacks and the Buddha's passive defense, Ooka Shin's attacks cannot last. Once he loses his chakra and stamina, he will definitely be unable to withstand the Buddha's counterattack.
Soon, the shadow clone was broken by the Buddha's counterattack, and Ooka Shin was already feeling tired, with his speed and strength greatly reduced.
I never expected this guy to be so strong. He's already at the level of a seasoned Chunin, and if he uses his full strength, he might be at the level of a Jonin.
"Stop. You've already proven your strength."
When the Buddha saw that Ooka Shin had stopped attacking, he did not retaliate but instead wanted to end the battle.
This was the first time Ooka Shin had encountered a formidable opponent. Lacking experience, he made many mistakes throughout the battle. At this point, he had little stamina and chakra left, so he sheathed his short sword.
The two slowly emerged from the thick fog, and Ooka Shin saw Yahiko, who was smiling and opening his arms wide: "Welcome, my new comrade. I am Yahiko, the leader of Akatsuki."
Ooka Shin was taken aback. He thought he would have to be questioned before he could join, but he nodded anyway: "I am Ooka Shin."
"Alright, we've already wasted a lot of time. Let's go to town to rescue them first, and we can talk about other things later."
Yahiko still remembered the rescue, and without introducing the others to Ooka Shin, he led them directly into the town.
Fortunately, the battle had only lasted a minute or two, so they didn't waste much time. They entered the town and began treating the wounded, putting out fires in buildings, helping the terrified residents restore order, and burying the bodies. By the time they finished all this, it was already three days later.
In these three days, Ooka Shinya also learned about the Akatsuki organization.
Besides the leader Yahiko, Rinnegan Nagato, and Paper Release Konan, the other four are Daibutsu, Idaten Kyusuke, Okiayu Ryotaro, and Tanaka Hideyuki.
Moreover, the Akatsuki organization has only been operating for a few months and is currently in a state of having no funds, no territory, and no plan. It has only one great goal—to achieve world peace.
Simply put, the Akatsuki organization now is no match for the Akatsuki organization that would be able to withstand the five great ninja villages more than a decade later; it is merely a ragtag armed force.
Ooka Shin wasn't too disappointed about this. If it were the Akatsuki organization more than ten years from now, he wouldn't be able to join with his current strength, let alone dare to join, or he would be in a hurry to be reincarnated.
During this time, Ooka Shin also brought Masao and Kanae along.
With two burdens suddenly appearing, Yahiko could only rub his head helplessly, unsure of how to deal with it, while Nagato was overjoyed to see his clansmen.
Seeing the two children dispelled Konan's suspicions about Ooka Shin.
Konan once asked Ooka Shin about his strength, and Ooka Shin replied that he had received training from ninjas, a statement that failed to gain Konan's trust.
After all, receiving instruction from a ninja is extremely difficult, and Konan, having experienced it firsthand, knows this very well.
However, seeing that Ooka Shin was taking care of two unrelated children despite the hardships, she finally lowered her guard and gradually accepted him.
After settling things in town, the group rested in a house. Ooka Shin, showing no awareness of being a newcomer and disregarding his young age, directly discussed the future of the Akatsuki organization with Yahiko and the others.
“Yahiko, while killing wandering ninjas and protecting ordinary people has some effect, when will we achieve peace? Don’t you have any other considerations? You must have noticed in the past that as long as we kill a batch of villains, another batch will appear, just like weeds. If we don’t address the root cause, the weeds will never disappear.”
Ooka Shin spoke very rudely, even implying that he was questioning Yahiko, which aroused the dissatisfaction of others.
The Buddha leaned against the wall, defending Yahiko: "Shin, what we're doing has been quite effective. In the past, we've taken action many times, which has deterred some wandering ninjas. The area we protect hasn't been attacked for a long time."
Konan, fiddling with a white paper flower, said, "We've already saved many people. If we continue, we can save many more. Believe me, you shouldn't doubt Yahiko."
Hearing their naive and short-sighted words, Ooka Shin remained silent for two seconds.
It was only then that he realized this was not the peaceful world of the past, but a turbulent and bloodthirsty ninja world where compulsory education was nonexistent.
Yahiko and his two companions were originally homeless children who later learned ninjutsu from Jiraiya, although Jiraiya would also teach them some life lessons.
But Jiraiya himself was just a ninja who killed people. How could he know anything about politics or economics? How could he see the root cause of the turmoil in the ninja world, let alone teach Yahiko and the others?
Therefore, for Yahiko and his group, maintaining peace in the region was the most worthwhile thing they could think of to do.
Now that he has joined the Akatsuki organization, Ooka Shin naturally wants to help the organization develop better. Otherwise, it would be too foolish to be like in the anime, where someone with great strength is only used by others, fights recklessly, and ends up getting killed.
Ooka Shin glanced at everyone in the room and sneered, "Heh, I joined you because I heard you wanted to maintain peace, but if you continue like this, you'll only be heading down a dead end. I think I'd better leave sooner rather than later, so I don't get dragged down by you."
