Chapter 158 Another Year of Freshman Assignments
Chapter 158 Another Year of Freshman Assignments
"Oh, Harry, this is amazing!" Ron, sitting in the back seat, watched the scenery flash by outside the window and danced with joy.
"Hmm." Harry was also looking at the scenery flashing by outside.
"You two need to hurry, I need to speed up and fly to Hogwarts, otherwise we won't have time for dinner." I pulled the gear shift, then stepped on the gas, and the car sped towards Hogwarts Castle.
Before we even arrived, Severus received the letter I sent him. After reading it, he immediately picked up his wand and headed toward the headmaster's office.
"What a rare guest. Does Severus need something from me?" Headmaster Dumbledore was dealing with his written documents.
"I don't know what's going on, but Mr. Harry Potter and Mr. Ron Weasley can't get through Platform 9. That's preventing them from taking the express train to school," Severus told the headmaster directly.
"Oh, is that so? Is this matter resolved now?" Dumbledore put down his quill and spoke seriously to Severus.
“Ayers has taken care of it, but he asked me to come to you to open a special exception allowing flying cars to fly over Hogwarts,” Severus told Dumbledore, following the instructions in my letter.
"Of course, I've already given permission. I'll just have to trouble you to pick them up later." Dumbledore lifted the no-fly order. This no-fly order was only temporarily lifted by the headmaster of Hogwarts; otherwise, if we drove the flying car into Hogwarts, we would immediately plummet to the ground.
"Well, if there's nothing else, I'll go wait for them to return." Severus turned and strode away, looking like a large, walking bat from behind.
Before the Hogwarts Express even arrived at its destination, a car flying through the air was the first to arrive.
The first thing that catches the eye is the Hogwarts Express station. Since the express train hasn't arrived yet and the young wizards haven't come, the platform is still empty. It's as if Hagrid is standing there waiting with a kerosene lamp, as if he's the one who leads the new students to Hogwarts every year.
After we passed through the Hogwarts Express station, we saw carriages pulled by the Night Riders parked near the station, probably to pick up all the young wizards except for the first-year students.
"Ayers, why are those carriages just standing there without anything pulling them?" Harry hadn't witnessed anyone die in front of him yet, so he couldn't see the Night Riders.
"Actually, those carriages are pulled by something in front of them. Only those who have witnessed death can see the night riders." I drove the carriages and flew over them, through the woods, and onto the great lake.
It's sunset now, and you can see a stunning sunset view.
"Wow, it's so beautiful," Ron exclaimed, admiring the view outside the window.
"Yes, it's so beautiful." Harry was also seeing such a beautiful view for the first time.
"Just so you know, Professor Snape might be picking us up later." I said as I drove towards Hogwarts Castle at the top of the hill.
"That's a really jarring remark." Ron had already anticipated being sprayed with venom by the Poison King.
"Is it really necessary to be so afraid of Severus? I think he's doing fine right now." I activated the invisibility button so Severus could see our vehicle, and I planned to land on the grass next to the Quidditch pitch.
"This is considered pretty good? I can't imagine what it would be like if it weren't pretty good?" Ron really couldn't imagine what Professor Snape would be like if he were several times more venomous.
“He would have been even uglier than he is now.” I thought to myself as I drove, recalling the first time I met Severus.
"It's unimaginable." Harry couldn't imagine what it would be like either.
"Alright, that's enough. I've already spotted Severus." I flew towards Severus, preparing to land.
Severus saw the flying car in the sky from afar, and saw it flying towards him.
When we were a few meters away from Severus, our vehicle landed and drove up to him like a car.
"Handsome, want to get in the car?" I rolled down the window and stuck my head out, teasing Severus in a joking manner.
"Be serious, park the car properly, grab your luggage and come with me to put it away before heading to the hall." Severus tugged at his robes, which had been slightly disheveled by the wind.
I smiled as I parked the car, took my wand and put it in my portable backpack, and helped Harry and Ron unload their luggage.
"Hurry up," Severus said, starting to get impatient.
"Let's go." Pushing Harry and Ron's luggage, Severus followed them into Hogwarts Castle.
“Severus, could you please tell Mr. Weasley to take that car away? I think it would be terrible if some little wizard took it if I left it there.” I took out my wand and cast a 'Confusion Charm' on the car.
“I’ve already written to inform them. Take Harry and Ron back to Gryffindor first, then you can go back to your dorm and pack your things. Then head to the Great Hall and the Great Hall. The banquet should be starting soon tonight.” With Ayers there, Severus felt he could leave; he still had things to take care of.
“Okay, you go and take care of your own things first. I’ll take care of them.” I led Harry and Ron upstairs to the Gryffindor common room.
When I escorted Harry and Ron to the door of their common room, since the prefect hadn't returned yet, I had to ask the fat lady to make an exception. After seeing Harry and Ron go inside, I headed towards my own dormitory.
It seems I'm still sharing a dorm room with Draco and the other two this year. I went back to my dorm, put my everyday clothes in the closet, filled the cabinet for my alchemy materials, took a shower, put on my school uniform, tidied myself up, and walked into the hall.
Now, freshmen are already wearing their Sorting Hats and being assigned to their houses in the Great Hall. I just walked into the Great Hall at that moment. Apart from a few people who were very engrossed in watching the assignments, the people from the other four houses noticed me. The professors also noticed my presence. I didn't think much of it and just walked over and sat down next to Draco as usual.
"Senior Ayers, why are you so late?" Draco asked in a low voice.
"I just went back to the dorm and took a shower." Anyway, it doesn't matter if I'm late, since dinner hasn't been served yet.
"Oh~" I feel like Draco has changed a lot, as if I've corrupted him.
“Gryffindor.” Ginny Weasley was sitting on a high stool when the Sorting Hat sorted her into Gryffindor.
"It seems like there's no suspense. How could the Weasleys not be sorted into Gryffindor?" Draco muttered while sipping his juice.
"That's true." I actually agree with what Draco said.
Once all the new students have been sorted into their houses, Headmaster Dumbledore will warn some adventurous young wizards against venturing into the Forbidden Forest, and give them other warnings.
I didn't get to ride the Hogwarts Express this time, so I didn't have a chance to eat any of the food I prepared. Now I really have a strong urge to eat.
"Senior Ayers, would you like some jam bread?" Draco asked, eating one himself, because it seemed a bit out of reach for me.
"No, I don't really want to eat that jam bread. It makes my throat feel dry." I gently touched my Adam's apple.
Draco was stunned by my sudden action; it was so tempting.
"What's wrong, Draco?" I asked curiously, looking at the dazed Draco.
"N-nothing..." Draco stammered, his fair face flushed slightly, and his ears turned bright red.
"Are you alright? Do you have a fever?" I saw a slight blush on Draco's face and thought he was feeling unwell, so I reached out and touched his forehead.
"No, it's just a little hot." Draco said sheepishly, grabbing my hand and pulling it down.
"It's good that you're alright. If you feel unwell, you can tell me. After all, I should be able to make some potions." Can I say that I was intentionally trying to seduce Draco?
Draco is so innocent. All he did was touch my Adam's apple, and I managed to hook him up.
“Okay,” Draco said softly.
Theodore Nott, sitting across from us, watched our entire interaction.
I glanced at Theodore Nott with a smile, then happily ate the veal steak in my hand.
Draco and his gang of followers didn't dare look in our direction. During the holidays, they had all consulted their elders at home, who told them that they weren't very clear about the family crest, but it was obvious that this was a large family. They were advised not to offend me too much at school.
When the opening banquet ended, I didn't leave with Draco and the others; instead, I waited for them in the corridor of the Great Hall.
"Ayers~" The sharp-eyed Fred spotted me standing there waiting for them as soon as he came out.
"Hmm." He ruffled Fred's red hair, who was clinging to him.
"Why don't you include us in something this fun?" George chimed in.
"Time was of the essence, but I must say, your flying car was quite a ride." It must have been thrilling to drive. I'd like to ask Mr. Weasley if he could make one for me to try out.
"Were you spotted flying in the sky?" Oliver asked.
"Generally speaking, there shouldn't be any. Besides activating the car's built-in invisibility spell, I also added a confusion spell to it." I feel like I haven't been discovered, but it's hard to say for sure. Let's see if any news comes out later.
"Why don't I see Cedric?" It's normal that Percy didn't see him; he's a prefect. I didn't expect him to be missing Cedric either.
“Cedric is a prefect this year, so he should be taking care of the first-year students like Percy,” Oliver replied to me.
“Oh, that’s really nice. I have some snacks I was planning to eat on the train, but I missed my train. Would you like to take them back to the lounge to eat?” I took out a few food boxes from my portable bag and gave them to Fred, George, and Oliver one by one.
Then we parted ways and went back to our respective lounges.
Because I had taken a shower before going out, when I got back to my dorm I changed into my pajamas, washed up, and went to bed to rest.
The next day, a group of us gathered at the Gryffindor long table for breakfast.
An owl flew in foolishly and plunged headfirst into the plate of food in front of Harry.
There was a letter tied to its leg; thankfully, it wasn't a letter that made it howl.
Ron took it out and saw a letter his mother had given me; he just handed it to me to read.
I opened it and saw that it was from Mrs. Weasley thanking me for looking after Ron and Harry and preventing them from making any mistakes. She and Mr. Weasley had discussed it and decided to give me their modified flying car. They would handle all the formalities and let me have it.
"Oh~ Mom actually gave that car to Ayers." Fred, who was sitting next to me, also saw what Mom had written, and he was very happy for me.
“Then Ayers, you can drive us out for fun then.” George was also very happy. He and Fred could both drive that car, and now it belonged to Ayers. Could they drive it out for fun anytime?
"That car is indeed quite nice, but I'm planning to send it for modifications. I intend to expand its interior and turn it into a campervan, so I can take everyone out for fun." The Flying Car is still a bit small; I still prefer a car with a super large interior. Now that Mr. Weasley has given it to me, I will definitely send it for modifications.
"What's a motorhome?" Harry asked curiously.
"It's a mobile vehicle where you can sleep, cook, and shower. We'll drive you around in it," I explained with a smile.
"If that's the case, then it's really quite good." Cedric thought this kind of car was really nice.
“Then we’ll wait for Ayers to prepare one of those cars and take us on a trip.” What boy doesn’t like adventure?
After breakfast, we had to go our separate ways again. Since we were all going to different classes, we could only carry our books to the classroom.
Fred and George are walking with me today. Our first class in fourth grade is Professor McGonagall's class, which is taught by Slytherin and Gryffindor together.
When we arrived at Professor McGonagall's classroom, it wasn't too late. The three of us sat together, with me in the middle and Fred and George on either side of me.
After class started, both of them used me as a pillow, one on each side of me during class. Professor McGonagall became immune to them and turned a blind eye to it.
"Can you two sit up straight? This is disrespecting Professor McGonagall. Be careful, or she'll give you extra homework later," I whispered to Fred and George.
"No, I believe Professor McGonagall wouldn't do that to me." Fred was very confident that his dean wouldn't do such a thing.
“Yes, I also believe the dean wouldn’t treat me like that.” George also had great confidence in Professor McGonagall.
"You really trust your dean? I'll have to trouble Mr. Fred Weasley and Mr. George Weasley to submit a report on what you learned in class tomorrow." Professor McGonagall, having overheard our conversation, deliberately assigned the twins an extra assignment.
"No~" The Geminis felt like the sky was falling.
