Chapter 57 Forbidden Forest
Chapter 57 Forbidden Forest
The next day, it was inevitable that everyone would find out that Gryffindor had lost two hundred points.
Everyone's first reaction was that it was impossible, but after they verified it with the giant hourglass that recorded the scores of the Academy Cup, the castle immediately erupted in chaos.
Gryffindor, who were originally ranked first, became last, and Slytherin, who were originally ranked second, naturally took the top spot.
From the morning onwards, they celebrated joyfully, clapping, whistling, and cheering for Gryffindor as if they had already won the House Cup.
Gryffindor, naturally, didn't have a good impression of the instigator of all this, especially Harry Potter, who was almost ostracized by everyone.
That's normal, except that Fred and George often lose points among the six, so everyone's gotten used to it.
The same goes for Siren, and even more so than the Weasley brothers. At the beginning of the semester, he lost about 20 points for being late, and another 20 points for causing a scene in the dorm in the early morning. In addition, there were many other miscellaneous incidents.
Unlike the Weasley brothers, Shiren later managed to add those points back in various ways, canceling them out, so the Gryffindors naturally had no objections. Some even thought Shiren was courageous and responsible, a true Gryffindor.
So when they learned about the list of people who had points deducted, they were the first to overlook Xilun.
Of the remaining people, Neville Longbottom has always been relatively unknown, and the other two foolish first-years are always by Harry Potter's side, so they are inevitably regarded by most people as his followers.
So their anger naturally fell on Harry.
Harry was distraught for a long time, and out of guilt and shame, he went to Oliver Wood and said he wanted to quit the Quidditch team.
Then Wood gave him a scolding.
"What's the point! If we can't win Quidditch, how are we supposed to make up the points?"
Harry was under even more pressure, spending his days either training or buried in his studies in the library.
Sometimes when Xilun bumped into him in the common room, he could see a fleeting look of envy in his eyes.
He was genuinely envious.
Although everyone was arrested and had points deducted together, Siron was able to remain unaffected. Not only did the students' attitudes towards him remain almost unchanged, but even Professor McGonagall, who had been furious at the time, did not express any dissatisfaction towards him afterward.
Take the solitary confinement incident, for example. The other five people received notes while eating breakfast, but only Siron was told by Professor McGonagall in person.
"Your confinement begins at 11 p.m. tonight. Go to the foyer and find Filch; he will take you to the Forbidden Forest."
After one of the Transfiguration lessons, Professor McGonagall said to Siron, "I hope this confinement will serve as a reminder to you..."
As for what she was reminding her of, she didn't say.
"I understand, Professor McGonagall." She nodded and then left the classroom.
Going to the Forbidden Forest, and with the professor's special permission... Siren's eyes flickered, it was hard to tell whether this was confinement or a reward.
Fred and George thought so too, and their confinement consisted of cleaning the trophy room with their most hated brother, not only wiping every trophy clean, but also without using magic.
"There are over three hundred trophies in there!" Fred exclaimed indignantly. "We want to go to the Forbidden Forest too!"
"Why can't it be that stupid Slytherin wiping the trophy!"
"Perhaps it's because...Professor McGonagall thinks you three brothers have good chemistry?" Siren said casually, giving them a disdainful look.
How could someone with the Marauder's Map willingly walk into a trap and deliver themselves right to Professor McGonagall's door?
With this level of business acumen, you're still giving him a guarantee?
Pshaw, false advertising!
Fred and George naturally understood what Xilen meant, and their faces instantly turned red.
"That time, we were careless...who knew Professor McGonagall would be there..." Fred explained, but his confidence was somewhat lacking.
After all, their division of labor was to keep an eye on the professor, but after getting the willow branch to hit him, they were so happy that they forgot about their real job.
"It's all that stupid Ron's fault!" George said.
They had inquired... Actually, there was no need to inquire. Malfoy, who had "made a great contribution" to Slytherin's seven consecutive championships, was so overjoyed that he revealed everything in front of everyone.
The gist of it is that he "picked up" a letter while shoving Ron, which detailed the specific time, method, and location they wanted to send the dragon away, so he went to see Professor McGonagall in advance.
Almost no one believed the story about the fire dragon, but after Fred and George's analysis, the rest of the story seemed to be true.
In other words, if Ron had been a little smarter and more cautious, they wouldn't have run into Professor McGonagall, who had been summoned by Malfoy.
Fred and George were furious, never expecting that the cause of all this was their foolish younger brother.
Then came the frustration: they had clearly seen Ron and his men leave the castle on the Marauder's Map that day, but they hadn't paid any attention to it.
Looking back now, Ron definitely left through the front door... What's the difference between that and waiting to be caught by Filch!
Okay, it was their oversight, they admit it!
At 11 p.m., Fred and George, one carrying a bucket and the other with tools, went to the prize display room without any complaints.
Harry said goodbye to Ron and Hermione in the common room, then turned and went to the foyer with Siren and Neville.
Hagrid only needs four people; Hermione will receive a different punishment.
When they came down to the foyer, Filch and Malfoy were already waiting there—Malfoy was the fourth person to go to the Forbidden Forest.
"Come with me." Filch led the group out of the castle, muttering something sinister, reminiscing about the days when he could chain those who broke school rules to the basement.
He also "inadvertently" revealed that their punishment was to go into that terrifying forest and keep company with werewolves and five-legged monsters.
Of the group, only Neville actually listened and believed it, and he was trembling with fear.
Malfoy didn't care at first, but when he heard they were going to the Forbidden Forest, his legs went weak.
Harry was alright, but Siren didn't take it seriously at all.
Filch's words could only fool new students who didn't know much about the wizarding world. That so-called basement was completely sealed off when Armando Dippet was headmaster, and it was impossible for Dumbledore to reopen it.
And going to the Forbidden Forest was even better; it was practically a reward, and he was overjoyed!
Celen's nonchalant attitude made Filch feel a little embarrassed, but by then, they had already reached the vicinity of Hagrid's cabin.
