Chapter 526 Snape's Unexpected Visit
The Holy Twenty-Eight Families?
Harry blinked. This involved another name he didn't recognize, and judging from Sirius and Sirius's conversation, the Weasleys seemed to be among them.
"Stop talking nonsense," Mrs. Weasley interrupted them, frowning. "Weasley is Weasley, not some holy family—and it's getting late. If you want to have dinner tonight, we'd better head back."
Although Harry was very interested in the twenty-eight families, they had no choice but to end the conversation and leave the house one after another after Mrs. Weasley's words.
But how to get back became a problem.
Mrs. Weasley refused to let Sirius drive anymore.
Harry suggested taking the subway, but Hermione told them that the subway doesn't run during Christmas.
"No need for that, we can ask someone for help," Sirius said.
"If you mean Muggles—" Mrs. Weasley looked at him seriously, "I must tell you, that's absolutely not acceptable."
“No, of course not a Muggle,” Sirius said. “I mean, send someone who can drive. Let me think, Nymphadora said she wanted to contact her again—oh right, two-way parchment.”
Sirius rummaged around in his pocket for a while, then took out a yellowed parchment from his shirt pocket and scratched it a few times with his fingernail.
"Alright," he said, looking up. "Now we just need to wait. Nymphadora should be here soon."
"I must remind you, Sirius," Mrs. Weasley said, "when Tonks comes, you'd better use a different name; she doesn't like being called by her first name."
"Ah, I'm getting used to calling her Tonks. You know, when I first met Tonks, she was only this tall."
Sirius gestured to his thigh with his hand, "I always called her Nymphadora back then."
About five minutes later, Tonks arrived. With her bright orange hair, she said to Sirius in an annoyed tone, "It's Christmas, Sirius, and I rarely get to have half a day off."
"Actually, yesterday was Christmas," Sirius said.
"At least it's Christmas holiday today." Tonks's hair turned an even more striking red. "And don't you know how to drive? I remember you had a motorcycle."
"In fact, riding a motorcycle and driving a car are two different things," Sirius said. "A car can't just take off when I need to."
"Motorcycles shouldn't be able to fly either."
Despite saying that, Tonks still got into the driver's seat and sped the group back to the Burrow.
This was Xilun's first time riding in a Tonks car, and to put it simply, it felt like riding in a low-spec version of a Knight Bus.
Mrs. Weasley had to hold Ginny and Ron close to her to prevent them from being thrown out when Tonks slammed on the brakes.
Having finally returned to the Burrow, Mrs. Weasley immediately ran outside, looking at Sirius and Tonks with lingering fear.
Xilun estimated that she probably wouldn't want to take a car to any other places anytime soon.
Tonks was invited to stay for dinner, and she gladly accepted—since she was already there, it wouldn't hurt to get a free meal, otherwise she would really become a chauffeur.
By evening, Siron found Charlie and wanted to ask about the dragon bloodwood. He was running low on his stock and wanted to buy some better quality from Charlie.
But the arrival of an uninvited guest changed his mind.
Snape arrived, still wearing his black robes and cloak.
"Snape, what's that old guy up to?" Ron frowned, trying to casually lean closer.
However, Mrs. Weasley did not give him a chance to eavesdrop. She immediately closed the door, keeping them all outside the Burrow, just as before.
Ron looked around.
"Seriously, where were Fred and George at such a crucial time!"
"Ah, I think I hear someone calling us."
Fred and George emerged from behind the Burrow and came to Ron.
"My dear brother————"
"How can we do anything for you?"
"Oh, stop joking," Ron said. "You know what I want to ask."
"certainly."
"We know."
"But unfortunately," Fred said, "after learning from the last lesson, Mom cast a distraction spell in the house, and our methods didn't work."
"But it's not like there's absolutely no news," George said.
Everyone immediately looked up at them.
"Snape came to read a report, which seemed to be a secret left by Dumbledore."
"That's it?" Ron asked. "What about the report?"
"I don't know." Fred glanced at him as if he were looking at a giant whose mind hadn't fully developed.
Do you even know what a secret means?
"It just can't be known by anyone else."
"That is, us—"
Ron's face flushed slightly.
"Whatever Snape's up to, I just want him to leave as soon as possible," Harry said quietly. "I don't want to spend the rest of my vacation with him."
Harry's words were agreed upon by everyone.
Nobody liked Snape, not even Charlie and Bill, who had already graduated.
Fortunately, Snape was also very self-aware. After finishing his business, he declined Mrs. Weasley's invitation to stay for dinner without hesitation and strode out of the Burrow.
However, as he passed by, Snape suddenly stopped and turned to look at them.
Harry instinctively took a step back, expecting Snape to say something sarcastic and cutting like before, but this time he didn't.
Snape glanced at them briefly, then quickly walked away.
Not long after, Mr. Weasley returned home from get off work, accompanied by several unfamiliar wizards, who, judging from their attire, appeared to be Aurors.
As expected, the door was closed again.
However, Fred and George were too lazy to eavesdrop this time. The group sat around the two blue magical flames, eating the candy and snacks they had received for Christmas, and didn't feel cold at all.
Half an hour later, the door to the humble dwelling was reopened, and the Aurors also left in a hurry, as if they had something important to do.
"Come in quickly, dinner is almost ready," came Mrs. Weasley's voice from inside the house.
Dinner consisted of stew and salted meat sandwiches.
Mrs. Weasley brought over a large pot steaming with white vapor and said, "Arthur, we'd better put a door in the kitchen so the children won't have to wait outside the next time we need to discuss something."
"Yes, I'll figure something out," Mr. Weasley said.
