Chapter 528 Arthur Weasley Attacked, Death Eaters' Plot
Mrs. Weasley’s tone was full of disgust for Mundungus.
"I really don't understand why Dumbledore would let a guy like that join the Order of the Phoenix."
"Because some information can only be obtained by someone like Mundungus—and most importantly, Dumbledore is willing to trust him," Moody said, helping to resolve Mrs. Weasley's doubts.
He didn't linger any longer, and walked past the tent with a series of turns, and soon there was no sound at all.
Inside the tent, the group looked at each other.
Ron was annoyed that his quill hadn't broken sooner, so they could have heard more news.
All they knew for now was that Dumbledore seemed to be attending a very important meeting and wouldn't be back for a while. All matters concerning the Order of the Phoenix would temporarily be handled by Alastor Moody.
Oh, and there's also Mundungus.
Judging from what the last few people said, they were able to overhear the contents of the meeting entirely thanks to the person who left midway.
"Who is Mundungus?" Harry asked curiously.
“A black market dealer,” Ron said. “Actually, I don’t know him personally. I heard about him from Fred and George. They bought a lot of their materials from Mundungus.”
"What materials?"
"It's a quick-acting skip-class candy," Ron said. "Anything that makes you vomit constantly is obviously poisonous, and it's hard to get that kind of stuff through normal channels, but Mundungus can get his hands on it."
Hermione frowned.
She already knew what Mundungus did, and at the same time, she had the same question as Mrs. Weasley—how could someone like this join the Order of the Phoenix?
Was the information he provided really that important?
Ron then left the tent again, and this time he returned to the Burrow without incident, finding a new quill pen in his room.
"This is the last one, and the ink is almost gone too," he said. "I need to tell my mom that we need to go to Diagon Alley to buy some things before school starts."
"I have some more here," Harry said. "You can use mine first."
Two days later, with Hermione's help, they finally finished their History of Magic assignments, leaving only the most difficult Potions class.
Snape left them five papers, all of which were the most complex potions they had ever studied.
What's more troublesome is that school is about to start, and at their current pace, it will be difficult for them to finish writing all five two-foot-long potion papers on the day they take the train.
With no other option, they could only squeeze out a little time to sleep again, burying themselves in those thick potion books, only able to catch their breath briefly during mealtimes each day.
When it was time for dinner that day, Xilun stepped out of the tent and rubbed his slightly dizzy head.
Strangely, when he entered the humble dwelling, he found the dining table completely empty, without even a piece of bread.
Meanwhile, Mr. Weasley, who had recently been able to leave work on time, also did not return.
Strangely enough, although the International Department of Magical Cooperation was the least busy, Percy was always busy and didn't get back until very late, while Mr. Weasley, who was always very busy, was able to leave work early every day.
Except for today————
Soon, Harry and the others, who were following behind Siren, also noticed something was wrong; the entire Burrow was eerily quiet.
They found Mrs. Weasley and Ginny in the space between the foyer and the kitchen.
Mrs. Weasley's eyes were red, as if she had just been crying.
Just as Ron was about to ask, he saw Ginny point to the strange clock on the wall.
It was a magical item; it didn't have time markings on it, but rather displayed locations or states.
And now, the longest pointer representing Mr. Weasley is stopped at the point of "deadly danger".
Ron's breathing became rapid instantly.
"It was like this an hour ago," Ginny whispered. "Kingsley said Dad left the Ministry of Magic after get off work, but he didn't come home."
"An hour ago—" Ron's eyes widened. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Mom told me not to tell," Ginny said, glancing at the distraught Mrs. Weasley. "But Sirius and Bill have already gone to look for them."
Siren looked up at the magic clock. Apart from Mr. Weasley and the rest of the family, Bill, Fred, and George were all marked "on the road," meaning they were probably searching for Mr. Weasley.
Percy is "work", but the next second he jumps to "on the road", and then jumps back to "work".
Siren guessed that he was probably also looking for Mr. Weasley, but at the Ministry of Magic.
Ron's face flushed red, and he immediately said, "I want to go too—"
"No!" Before he could finish speaking, Mrs. Weasley abruptly stood up and sternly refused, "You're staying at home, and you're not going anywhere!"
"But Mom, I can't—"
"I said no!" Mrs. Weasley said again, her tone resolute. "The situation outside is unknown, and I absolutely will not allow you to leave my sight!"
Ginny shrugged slightly behind her—this was one of the reasons she didn't tell Ron, since they wouldn't be of much help even if she did.
Although Ron was very unwilling, he didn't dare to go against Mrs. Weasley at this time, so he could only sit down at the table with a red face.
"Ah, I'll go make you dinner."
Mrs. Weasley then realized what was happening, and stumbled to her feet, wanting to go to the kitchen.
Although no one was in the mood for dinner at this point, Mrs. Weasley seemed not to hear what they were saying and busied herself with her own things.
But the bread was misplaced and was cut into strange shapes by the wobbly knife, and the eggs were cracked outside the frying pan, their shells popping inside—it was clear that Mrs. Weasley was not as calm as she appeared.
"It's alright, Mr. Weasley will be fine," Harry reassured Ron.
However, Xilun thought of the content of the meeting they had overheard a couple of days ago.
He recalled that Moody had said Dumbledore was not in England recently, as he was going to Finland for an important meeting.
Then, a few days later, Mr. Weasley mysteriously disappeared. It was hard for Siren not to suspect there was some connection; otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence?
Moreover, Sirius was well aware that there was likely a Death Eater spy within the Order of the Phoenix, a fact that Dumbledore also knew.
In addition, there was something else that Siren couldn't understand: if the Death Eaters were behind this, shouldn't they have tried to take Harry away? Why did they target Mr. Weasley instead?
Could it be that Harry has been staying in the Burrow for so long that it's difficult to make a move, and they want to lure him out this way?
