Chapter 165 The Final Victor
Chapter 165 The Final Victor
Picking up where we left off, the David Showdown has reached its third round. The roller skating race ended with the Straw Hat crew's third consecutive victory. However, Luffy and Robin readily accepted Killarin's request to continue the race. Meanwhile, Yukina from the Foxy Pirates was finally able to stand up steadily...
So, in the fourth round of the third match, it was Robin, the historian of the Straw Hat Pirates, versus Killerin, the fishman of the Foxy Pirates. When the match started, the two of them shot out at the same time, and their speeds were evenly matched. Twenty seconds later, the defenders set off, and Yukina, who had finally learned to roller skate, kept pace with Luffy at a speed that was no less than his.
Upon reaching the bend, Luffy grabbed the wall with one hand and flew off, using the momentum to make the turn. Meanwhile, Setsuna unleashed a shockwave with her right hand, adjusted her movements, accelerated, and made the turn while catching up with Luffy.
Foxy then pointed his finger at Robin, his Slow Ray ready to fire. Luffy immediately shouted, "Gum-Gum Rocket!" With the attack, the fishman Killarin was caught off guard and sent flying, falling directly out of the arena. At the same time, Foxy also hit Robin with his Slow Ray.
Just as the fishman Killarin was about to be eliminated, Yukina swung a pink whip from her right hand, entangled Killarin, and pulled him back to the arena. Once back on the field, Killarin immediately accelerated to create distance, while Yukina transformed the whip into a long scythe, successfully delaying Luffy...
Meanwhile, Robin's 30 seconds were up, and Foxy was preparing to unleash his next Slowing Ray. Seeing this, Usopp and Nami suddenly came up with a plan. So, just as Foxy was about to strike again, Nami and Usopp began to take turns praising and mocking him...
The two men's strategy quickly left Foxy caught between elation and despair, giving Robin another chance to act. However, with a gap of nearly two and a half laps now in place, Robin, having resumed his actions, was unable to catch up immediately.
With only twenty seconds left, Luffy was still being harassed by Setsuna, while Robin was two and a half laps behind Killarin. Seeing this, Killarin believed he had the victory in his grasp, so he began to accelerate, preparing for the final blow. As the countdown reached the last ten seconds, the match seemed to have already been decided in favor of the Foxy Pirates.
The Foxy Pirates, believing they had finally secured victory, began a countdown in unison: "Ten! Nine! Eight! Seven!" Just as they reached seven, Goten suddenly sprang to his feet, yelling, "Shut up! Be quiet!" He then unleashed a powerful punch towards the audience, sending the fishman Killerin, who happened to be passing by, flying through the air and landing on the ground just before the final second...
The Foxy Pirates fell into a deathly silence upon seeing this. Goten, who had just come to his senses, said in bewilderment, "Huh? Shouldn't the match be over already? We've already won three matches."
Nami asked curiously, "Hey, Goten, didn't you only collapse after you heard the opponent continue the match?"
Upon hearing this, Wutian asked in confusion, "Continue the match? I think I heard a bit, but not the whole thing. Oh well, it's over anyway. So, is the match finished?"
Upon hearing this, Usopp immediately answered Goten's question: "The only remaining battle is between Luffy and Setsuna..."
-
The final match is between Straw Hat Pirates captain Luffy and Foxy Pirates rookie Yukina. This is the last showdown, and all the Straw Hat crew members except Luffy are present, as are the Foxy Pirates. It seems that this time, a fair and square match is finally going to take place.
When the starting gun fired, Luffy and Setsuna both sprang into action, their speed neck and neck. Seeing this, Setsuna decisively transformed into a scythe and began to attack Luffy. Luffy, not to be outdone, retaliated by swinging his rubber whip with his left leg.
After Yukina dodged Luffy's attack, Luffy immediately followed up with his Gum-Gum Machine Gun and launched another attack. This time, Yukina transformed her scythe into a whip, dodging Luffy's attacks one after another, and took the opportunity to entangle Luffy with her light whip. Upon seeing this, Luffy shouted, "Oh no!"
With his arms tangled and unable to move, Luffy's speed slowed down. Seeing this, Foxy decisively tried to use his Slowing Beam to assist him, but Robin used her Flower Flower Fruit to control his fingers, forcing him to turn the beam back and shoot it at himself...
After binding Luffy, Setsuna immediately began to accelerate and widen the distance. Seeing the gap widening, Luffy gathered all his strength and roared loudly, finally breaking free of the restraints. However, the next second, Setsuna's light whip came from behind Luffy again, directly binding him tightly and making him look like a caterpillar.
Luffy was now restricted and could only wriggle like a caterpillar, but even so, he did not give up and continued to move forward with all his might. Seeing this, Setsuna did not slow down at all, and soon, as time passed, she widened the gap between the two to a full twenty laps...
With the final minute approaching, Yukina, who was far ahead, was quite puzzled and stopped to ask Luffy's crew, Zoro and the others, "Hey, why aren't you guys helping your captain? Are you just going to watch him wriggle around like that?"
Zoro immediately retorted, "Stop talking nonsense. We've already made our move. Just give it your all, and don't ask any more questions..."
Yukina, seeing that the Straw Hat crew's actions were merely to stop Foxy from interfering, thought for a moment and then decisively released Luffy from his restraints. Upon seeing this, Luffy immediately accelerated at full speed, while Yukina readjusted her starting position. After Luffy caught up with the gap in forty seconds, the two were on the same level.
In the final ten seconds, both Setsuna and Luffy gave it their all, their speeds differing by only a hair's breadth. Until the countdown ended, the referee, carefully monitoring each frame, announced the final winner as…
Everyone held their breath, and the referee slowly announced, "The winner is... Luffy, captain of the Straw Hat Pirates!" The Foxy Pirates immediately deflated once again upon hearing this...
However, Luffy interrupted, "Wait a minute! I lost this time! The winner is Yukina. If she hadn't released her restraints and waited for me to catch up, I wouldn't have had a chance at all. So Yukina won this round!"
Thus, the third round of the David vs. Chopper battle ended with the Straw Hat crew winning 4-1. Chopper rejoined the crew, but Foxy, dissatisfied, immediately shouted at them, "Wait! Straw Hat! Doesn't that mean neither side gained or lost any members? Doesn't that mean it's a draw? I don't accept that result, therefore..."
With that, Foxy decisively pulled out three coins and declared with unwavering conviction, "I challenge you to three more rounds of the David Challenge, and this time we must settle this once and for all!" He then fired the first shot to declare war.
