Chapter 74 You wouldn't want your master to go hungry, would you?
Chapter 74 You wouldn't want your master to go hungry, would you?
As we all know, when someone says "I have a friend," that friend usually refers to themselves.
But if this so-called friend is truly you, but not in the eyes of outsiders, things can suddenly become strange.
"Friends?" Poison Mist exclaimed in shock. "You hardly ever have any social activities, so where did you get friends? Is it Jaeger Winchester, the one you've never met but have been sending him money to?"
Jaeger: "..."
He coughed awkwardly, "Yes."
"I've never even met him, yet I'm sending him bank cards, and now I'm sending him a motorcycle." Poison Mist was bewildered. "Is this some kind of completely new way of making friends that I don't understand?"
"To be honest, Langdon, I don't even know when you started knowing this Winchester guy, you've just been inexplicably seeing him all this time."
Haha, the identity card thing, isn't that amazing... Of course, Jaeger wouldn't say that.
So he thought for a moment: "Poisonous fog, do you know what 'dying in the light' means?"
"Will it die in the light?"
"We communicate very well online, but I refuse to meet in person because I'd die if we did." Jaeger said expressionlessly. "That's right, that's the kind of person I am, and Winchester is my good online friend."
Poisonous Fog: "..."
It sounds far-fetched, but considering Langdon Parrels' eccentric social behavior...
That actually makes sense, how come?
The poisonous fog fell silent, while Jaeger, wanting to try his long-awaited Burks swallowing the motorcycle whole, summoned the [A Very Useful Snake] equipment card.
Soon, a familiar touch came from his wrist. Burks peeked out from Jaeger's sleeve, looking around in confusion: "Hiss?"
Here.
It then looked at Jaeger and hissed.
And who are you?
The poisonous mist was just as bewildered as Burks at this moment: "Wait, what...where did this snake come from? I've been on you the whole time, how come I didn't notice?"
"This is Jaeger Winchester's snake, a magical creature that I borrowed for a while." Jaeger chatted casually with the poisonous mist before turning to Burks, "Hello, Burks, I know you can understand me."
"Without further ado, your master and I have borrowed you for a short time, and we need your cooperation in conducting a small experiment."
Upon hearing this, a hint of doubt flashed in Burke's beady eyes—Why should I believe you?
Jaeger was already prepared, so he simply picked up a bank card that was casually tossed on the table and waved it in front of Burks: "You want evidence, right?... Does this look familiar?"
Burks: !?
It stared in shock at the bank card in Jaeger's hand.
I knew that poor wizard was stingy even when offering $20, where did he get such a huge sum of money from his bank account!
So that's where I got it from!
Looking at Burks's gleaming eyes, Jaeger was speechless: Sure enough, he still had to rely on bank cards; that greedy snake that craved dollars.
"Cooperate with my experiments." Jaeger gave a friendly smile. "Otherwise... Burks, you wouldn't want your master to go hungry, would you?"
"Besides, given your master's financial situation, you would probably starve without my help."
The Poison Mist, who overheard Yeager's words, remained silent.
Is this Langdon's good online friend? But something sounds a bit off.
Upon hearing this, Burks' eyes showed a hint of heartache, yet he still nodded with an air of righteous indignation: "Hiss!"
Seeing that Burks agreed, Jaeger pointed to the motorcycle that had just been assembled next to him: "It's good that you're willing to cooperate. Now, Burks, try to see if you can store this motorcycle."
"What do you mean by 'can this car be stored'?" the poisonous mist's voice rang out. "You don't want this snake to eat the car, do you?"
"...Oh wait, didn't you say that this snake was a magical creature? Then is its owner a magician?"
Jaeger ignored the poison mist's curious mutterings and simply looked at Burks.
Just like before when he swallowed a mug whole, Burks simply moved closer to the motorcycle and opened his mouth wide...
The motorcycle vanished instantly, leaving no clue as to how Burke had managed to swallow it.
[Saved: Special Heavy Motorcycle x1]
[Remaining storage space: 8]
Besides the motorcycle, another stored item was the writing board, which was kept in the storage space inside the Burke's belly for easy access.
"Just as I expected..." Jaeger stroked his chin.
The poisonous mist, however, said dryly, "How amazing, is this a magical creature?"
"Actually, you yourself are quite amazing, if others didn't know you were actually an alien," Jaeger comforted him.
"That's true." The poisonous mist's tone brightened again. "We symbiotes are no less powerful than magical creatures!"
After the experiment was successful and confirmed that Burks could indeed swallow the motorcycle whole, Jaeger canceled the card recall.
From Burks' perspective, it seems like it just inexplicably ended up on Langdon's side.
When Jaeger returned and summoned it again, it opened its eyes and went back to its master.
As for the poisonous mist that witnessed the snake vanish into thin air, he came up with his own explanation: "Could this be the legendary teleportation magic?... I never imagined your online friend would be such a powerful magician, Langdon!"
Upon hearing this, Jaeger could only suppress his inexplicable embarrassment and reply, "Yes, that's right."
"Jaeger Winchester is indeed a formidable... wizard."
Damn, it's really weird to praise myself.
It's unclear how Tony Stark managed to genuinely praise himself back then, but he certainly had the right to...

That night.
Old Town, Gotham City.
Tonight is destined to be an unsettling night—every night in Gotham is destined to be an unsettling night.
The Batmobile, spewing eerie blue flames, sped through the streets like a shooting star, its engine roaring hoarsely and dullly, like the howl of a wild beast.
Bruce, whose nightlife is incredibly vibrant, was driving the Batmobile, having just dealt with a thief, five gang members in an armed brawl, two high-dose drug addicts, and a group of homeless people holding a cult-like ritual at a street basketball court late at night. He responded casually to the voice coming through his earpiece.
"Yes, that's right, okay, Afu, right away."
Alfred, who was trying for the nth time to persuade his young master to patrol more at night, sighed with a sense of smugness: "You may think I'm being nosy, young master, but I think..."
Alfred didn't finish speaking because he heard the previously noisy engine noise on the other end of the headset abruptly stop, like a radio whose antenna had been suddenly snapped: "Young Master?"
There was no response from the other end of the headset.
Alfred immediately became alert. While quickly maneuvering the Batcomputer to lock onto Bruce's current location, he cautiously asked again, "Young Master, what happened on your end?"
After a long silence on the other end of the headset, Alfred finally received Bruce's response.
Thank goodness, Bruce is alright.
But what he said next surprised Alfred.
"Ah Fu," Bruce said thoughtfully, "I think I saw that new vigilante."
"That new vigilante?"
"Not only that," Bruce said in a strange tone, "but next to that new vigilante...it seems to be Jaeger Winchester."
