Chapter 13 The Horde of Zombies Shows Its Power
Chapter 13 The Horde of Zombies Shows Its Power
As soon as Lu Chen gave the order, Tie Zhu rushed to the front.
It was the strongest of all the zombies, standing at 1.9 meters tall with shoulders as broad as a wall, and the muscles on its arms stretched the sleeves of its cotton-padded coat taut.
He held a watermelon knife that was more than half a meter long in his hand, the blade gleaming coldly in the corridor light.
Dazhuang and Erzhuang followed on its left and right sides, respectively.
Three strong zombies charged forward side by side, like a moving wall, with the rest of the zombies following closely behind.
The first zombie rushed towards Tie Zhu.
It opened its mouth, revealing teeth stained with dark red dirt, and reached out with both hands to grab the iron pillar's shoulders.
Tie Zhu raised his knife and brought it down.
With its arm, almost as thick as a normal person's thigh, wielding it, the sharpness of the watermelon knife combined with the zombie's strength made the power of this strike reach a terrifying level.
The blade slashed diagonally from the upper right to the lower left, drawing an arc before cutting directly into the zombie's neck.
puff!
A sound like a blade slicing into flesh rang out.
The zombie's head separated directly from its body and rolled to the ground.
The headless body took another step forward, then fell straight down like a puppet with its strings cut.
Dark red blood gushed from the severed neck, spreading across the tiled floor.
At the same time, a second zombie rushed over.
It pounced from the side of the iron pillar, its target being the direction where Lu Chen was.
Tie Zhu turned around and kicked out with a swift motion.
The kick landed squarely on the zombie's abdomen, sending its body flying like a tattered sack, its back slamming against the corridor wall with a dull thud.
It slid down the wall, and before it could stand up straight again, Da Zhuang and Er Zhuang had already rushed up to it.
Two kitchen knives, one on the left and one on the right, fell simultaneously.
One blade slashed his neck, the other his head.
It took less than ten seconds in total.
Both zombies are dead!
The corridor fell silent again, with only the faint sound of blood flowing on the floor.
Lu Chen stood there, looking at the two zombie corpses lying on the ground, and remained silent for a second.
He anticipated that the zombies' combat effectiveness would increase after being armed, but he didn't expect the increase to be so significant.
In a zombie-on-zombie fight, both were cleanly and swiftly killed in just ten seconds.
Weapons, armor, and teamwork are all important factors.
Equipping zombies with human gear and organizational methods resulted in a qualitative change in their combat effectiveness.
"That's amazing!"
Shen Qingci's voice came from the side.
Her gaze fell on the still-dripping watermelon knife in Tie Zhu's hand, then moved to the two zombie corpses on the ground, and finally returned to Lu Chen's face.
She had watched many videos of superhumans fighting online.
Some have flames erupting from their palms; some can unleash wind blades; some have skin that hardens into steel. Those scenes are all incredibly cool and breathtaking.
But none of them had as great an impact on her as what she was seeing now.
There are no supernatural powers, no flashy special effects. Only pure violence.
Three zombies charged, and in just ten seconds, two of them turned into corpses.
Simple, direct, and efficient!
"Let's go!" Lu Chen took the lead and walked towards 403.
His voice was calm, and his face was expressionless. But before taking a step, his gaze lingered for a moment on the corpses of the two zombies.
Shen Qingci quickly followed, and after a few steps, her pace unconsciously slowed down as she passed the two zombie corpses.
On the ground, the decapitated zombie's head rolled to the wall, its fingers still twitching slightly. The smell of blood mixed with the rotting odor unique to zombies filled the air in the corridor.
Shen Qingci's throat moved slightly.
She turned her head away and quickened her pace to catch up with Lu Chen.
Lu Chen saw it too.
A wave of nausea rose in his stomach as well; although zombies were no longer human, they were in life.
It feels completely different from killing a wild beast. You know intellectually that it's something you have to do, but your body and emotions won't completely obey your reason.
Fortunately, I can control this discomfort.
He took a deep breath, letting the blood-smelling air of the corridor fill his lungs, and then slowly exhaled.
The two quickly arrived at the door of room 403.
Shen Qingci walked to the door and said in a low voice, "There's still a zombie in the living room, and the two survivors are in the bedroom. They locked the bedroom door from the inside."
Hearing this, Lu Chen was somewhat surprised.
Being in the same house as a zombie, trapped in the same apartment, it's hard to say whether they're lucky or unlucky.
Lu Chen stood in front of room 403, first measuring the width of the door gap with his eyes, and then pulling out a crowbar from his backpack.
This crowbar was found in a toolbox in a room on the fifth floor. It's a flat iron bar with one end bent into an arc, just right to fit into the gap and apply force.
He wedged the flat end of the crowbar into the door gap, pressing it against the joint between the door frame and the door panel, and then took a step back.
"Iron Pillar".
Tie Zhu's burly figure emerged from the zombie horde.
It walked to the door, its gray fingers gripping the end of the crowbar. With the force of the iron bar, the crowbar twisted sharply in the door crack, producing a harsh friction sound between the metal and the metal.
A sharp, mournful sound came from the door lock, and the entire door frame shook.
With a crisp "click," the latch was forcefully ejected from the door frame.
The door opened a crack.
Without pausing, Tie Zhu pushed the door open and entered. The pried-open door was pushed aside like cardboard in front of him, slamming against the wall with a dull thud.
Da Zhuang and Er Zhuang followed it inside. The three strongest zombies stood side by side in the entrance hall, like three silent door gods, completely blocking the passage to the living room.
Only then did Lu Chen slowly step inside, with Shen Qingci following behind him, while the other zombies remained in the corridor on guard.
The layout of room 403 is similar to that of the rooms on the fifth floor. The entrance hall connects to the living room, and at the end of the living room is a short corridor leading to the bedroom and the bathroom.
The curtains were drawn, the light was dim, and there was an indescribable smell in the air: the stench of food scraps mixed with the cloying, rotten scent unique to zombies, all of which made one's throat tighten.
Roar!
The zombie in the living room moved the moment it saw Lu Chen.
It emerged from behind the sofa, its gray-white eyes locking onto Lu Chen. It let out a roar and pounced on him as if its entire body had been put on fast forward.
But how could it possibly get past Tie Zhu and the other two?
Iron Pillar didn't even use a knife; it raised its right foot and delivered a simple front kick, landing solidly on the zombie's chest.
The zombie's body flew backward as if it had been hit by a car, its back slamming into the coffee table, shattering the glass surface with a crash.
It struggled to get up, but Da Zhuang and Er Zhuang had already pressed down on it.
Erzhuang held down its shoulders, and Dazhuang held down its legs. The two strong zombies, with their four large hands, pinned the zombie to the floor like iron clamps.
The zombie writhed desperately, its roars growing increasingly shrill, but its body remained completely still.
Tie Zhu stepped forward, raised his foot, aimed it at the head, and stomped down.
After a dull thud, the living room fell silent.
