He was quite curious about the figures that Uesugi Kenichi made. However, since he was so popular with girls, even if he sold them in a garbage bag, countless girls would still patronize his business. He could simply sit there and wait for customers to come to him!
"No problem, I'll bring two over in a couple of days so you can take a look. Thank you for your help." Uesugi Kenichi thanked him.
Chapter Fourteen: Who's in front of me?
"No need to be polite. I'm going to the anime convention anyway, even without you. I'd love to have someone with me. So it's settled then." Sato Hideki excitedly pushed up his glasses, planning how to convert Uesugi Kenichi to the world of anime. If Uesugi Kenichi also liked anime, many activities would be much easier to organize.
"In that case, why don't we all go together this weekend?" Watanabe Futa suggested.
"I have no objection. There are tons of anime cosplayers at the anime convention, just thinking about it makes me excited." Kobayashi Yoshihara let out a sly laugh.
"I'm fine with anything," Tetsuya Ishida said softly.
"Alright, hurry up and do your chores, class is about to start." After shooing Kobayashi Yoshihara and the others away, Watanabe Fuuta smiled at Uesugi Kenichi with an unexpected gentleness in his expression.
"I'm also really looking forward to the figure that Uesugi-kun will make. I hope I can take a look at it when it's ready. I won't bother you any longer." Watanabe Fuuta chuckled and then, seeing that class was about to start, went to his seat.
After most people had left, Uesugi Kenichi also sat down in his seat. His seat was in front of Ishida Tetsuya, in the second-to-last row by the window in the classroom, the protagonist's seat of destiny.
The teacher had actually asked him if he wanted a seat near the front, but he refused. After all, he was 1.86 meters tall, and sitting in the front would obstruct other people's view. His eyesight was excellent, and he didn't need to sit in the front.
In fact, Japan is similar to China in the past. Good students can do almost anything. Although it is not explicitly stated, there is a real hierarchy of contempt within the class. The concept of respecting the strong prevails, and in school, those with good grades are undoubtedly the strong.
Take duty rostering for example. Almost everyone in the class, including the class monitor, has to do duty rostering. However, he hasn't done it even once in the days he's been here. It's not that he doesn't want to do it, but the class monitor, Kawada Sonoko, hasn't assigned him any tasks. And the others don't seem to have any objections to him not doing duty rostering, as if it's just how it should be.
Before the teacher arrived for class, Kawada Sonoko went up to the podium and announced the latest news from the student council: various clubs would be recruiting new members this week in the school's gymnasium, and everyone was encouraged to attend. She also gave everyone a brochure about the various clubs.
He quickly flipped through the club introductions and put the booklet down. It contained quite a few clubs, including baseball, kendo, basketball, and soccer, covering almost every aspect. However, since he had already decided not to participate, he wouldn't waste any more time looking at it.
As these brochures were distributed, the classroom suddenly became very noisy, with many students excitedly whispering about which clubs they wanted to join.
Uesugi Kenichi noticed that Watanabe Fuuta and Kobayashi Yoshihara seemed to be surrounded by a number of girls asking them something, and then suddenly let out a loud sigh and looked in his direction.
He avoided those gazes, propped his head up, and looked out the window, quietly watching the white clouds drifting in the sky. He felt a strange sense of peace and enjoyed this brief moment of relaxation.
The feeling of returning to school after two lifetimes filled him with indescribable emotions. Listening to the noisy sounds around him, he also felt a sense of satisfaction that was hard to put into words. A smile appeared on his lips, and he was full of anticipation for the future.
As he laughed, the noise in the classroom seemed to disappear by half, and many girls stared at the scene in a daze, as if they had become puppets.
In the morning sunlight, a halo of light dappled across the boy's face, like the most striking colors on a palette. At this age, as fleeting as rain, a smile from him was like a ray of light piercing through the dark clouds, instantly dispersing them. The warm sunlight shone on the sea, creating a shimmering expanse. At that moment, their memories seemed to freeze, an indelible mark that even time could not erase, gradually becoming what they called their youth.
"It's so great to be able to come to Yamato Private School, it's so great to be able to enter Class 1-A, I would be willing to shorten my life by a few years to be able to spend every day with Uesugi-kun."
"I just don't know who Uesugi will end up with in the future. The thought that it won't be me makes me so jealous that I'm unrecognizable."
"I only have one wish right now, and that is that Uesugi-kun will find a girlfriend later!"
"Sigh~ Uesugi-kun's grades will definitely get him into the Special Advanced Department, which means he'll be leaving this class in a year at most. No, I have to study hard to get into the Special Advanced Department. Maybe I'll have a chance to get into the same university as Uesugi-kun someday. Maybe I'll even have a chance?"
Upon hearing this, many girls' eyes lit up instantly. Indeed, if they could be in the same class for all three years of high school and then go to the same university, their chances of getting a piece of pork would greatly increase.
Kenichi Uesugi doesn't seem like the kind of person who's easy to win over, otherwise he wouldn't still be single. With his terrifyingly high level of charm, if he were really determined to be a scumbag, changing girlfriends every day would be a piece of cake, and even if others knew, they wouldn't be able to resist such temptation.
If I could stay by his side and watch over him silently, then maybe one day there really would be hope.
That's how it's always portrayed on TV, the story of the prince and Cinderella. People should still have dreams; what if they come true?
Thinking this way greatly increased many girls' motivation to study, but Uesugi Kenichi was unaware of this, and even if he did, he wouldn't say anything.
He wouldn't mind if he could become their motivation to study, since studying is for their own benefit.
As the school bell rang, the day's learning began.
"You dropped your pen."
Kenichi Uesugi was still pondering the math problem his teacher had just explained when he heard a voice and saw a very gentle-looking girl handing him a pen.
"Uh, thank you."
He took it; it was indeed his pen. It seemed he hadn't noticed it and had knocked it to the ground.
Huh? Wait, when did a girl sit in front of me?!
He didn't seem to feel anything at all. Speaking of which, he didn't seem to remember who was sitting in front of him.
This shouldn't be happening at all. Even if he wasn't paying attention, he still recognized the people sitting next to him. Behind him was Ishida, to his left was Hasegawa Shimojima, and in front was... ???
Chapter Fifteen: Kato Megumi
Kenichi Uesugi held a pen in his hand and looked over in surprise. His gaze fell on the girl in front of him, whose gentle appearance suddenly gave him a sense of familiarity. He felt a unique temperament from the girl in front of him, which was like a white cloud floating in the sky, making people feel extremely peaceful just by looking at it.
Strange, there's no reason why I haven't felt anything after sitting in front of such a girl for so long. Uesugi Kenichi felt a little puzzled. Although he didn't have any intention of dating, it wasn't like he was dating Tsuma Mimi.
Although the girl in front of him wasn't the particularly beautiful type, and at first glance seemed to be just an ordinary girl, the more he looked at her, the more outstanding her temperament became, making him unable to help but take a second look.
Uesugi Kenichi frowned and asked softly:
"Your name is..."
"My name is Kato Megumi, Uesugi-kun." Kato Megumi chuckled softly, her voice as gentle as a spring breeze.
"Kato Megumi?"
"What's wrong? Is there a problem with the name? But doesn't Uesugi-kun think it's a bit rude to stare at a girl like that?"
"I'm sorry, there's nothing wrong with the name, it sounds nice. Has Kato been sitting in front of me the whole time?" Uesugi Kenichi looked away, feeling somewhat shocked. This person was too amazing. He hadn't sensed her presence at all for so long. If she hadn't suddenly spoken up, he didn't know how long this situation would have continued.
"Yes, that's right." Kato Megumi tapped her lips with her index finger, her expression unchanged.
"I'm so sorry I didn't notice, it was really rude of me."
"It's okay, it's always been like this, I'm used to it. In fact, thanks to Uesugi-san, I'm getting a lot more attention sitting here than ever before."
Uesugi Kenichi was silent for a moment, but Kato Megumi's expression remained calm and indifferent, leaving him completely unable to tell whether she was angry or not.
After all, someone has been sitting in front of you for so many days, and it is indeed a bit much for you to act like you're seeing them for the first time.
"Has your presence always been so weak?"
"Hmm~ If we're comparing, I'm probably the complete opposite of Uesugi-kun. The more dazzling you are, the less noticeable I am."
Uesugi Kenichi stiffened for a moment; this tone should indicate anger.
"Actually, you're quite cute, you should be very dazzling."
Despite Uesugi Kenichi's words, which could almost be considered a confession in Japan, Kato Megumi's face remained expressionless, and her tone was very calm.
"Really? Thank you for the compliment, Uesugi-kun, but such words don't carry much weight with someone who hasn't even noticed me even after sitting behind me for ten days."
"Uh~ I'm sorry..." Uesugi Kenichi knew that his words didn't seem very convincing.
"It's alright, Uesugi-kun, don't worry about it. Actually, it's not just you, I think even the teacher probably doesn't remember me." Kato Megumi looked at Uesugi Kenichi's somewhat embarrassed expression and smiled.
As the school bell rang again, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Unusually, his mind wasn't completely absorbed in what the teacher was saying; part of his gaze fell on the back of the short-haired girl in front of him.
It was indeed strange. If he hadn't forced himself to concentrate, it seemed as if some strange, irresistible force was subconsciously making him ignore the girl's existence.
Could this be some kind of special ability, or is the world really not as simple as I thought?
After thinking for a while without figuring out the reason, he neatly wrote Kato Megumi's name on the paper. His handwriting was very beautiful, and his calligraphy skills were always in use, as if he were passively playing a role.
He planned to keep an eye on Kato Megumi to see if he could observe anything, or if she had some special quality like him that caused this phenomenon, but for now, he would focus on his class.
As the school bell rang, the day's learning came to an end.
"Uesugi, come on, let's go to the stadium together."
As soon as get out of class ended, Kobayashi Yoshihara immediately came over and shouted loudly.
"Didn't I say I didn't plan to join a club?"
"Even if you don't join, you can still go and take a look. You need to know a little about the situation at the school, right?"
"Alright then." After thinking about it, what this guy said was indeed right, so I'll go take a look. It shouldn't take long.
As he was about to leave after packing his things, his gaze fell on Kato Megumi's seat. Strangely enough, he hadn't noticed when she had left at all.
"Uesugi, what are you dawdling for? Hurry up and go."
"coming."
As Uesugi Kenichi and his group walked down the corridor, two people suddenly walked straight towards them.
He stepped aside to make way, but to his surprise, the two people bumped into him and blocked his path.
"Hey, you're the one named Uesugi Kenichi, right?" one of the men said, his expression somewhat menacing.
"What is it?" Uesugi Ken asked coldly, looking at the two people in front of him without any expression. These two were obviously here to cause trouble, so his tone was not polite at all.
"Nothing much. I heard you're pretty arrogant. Come with us to the rooftop."
Before Uesugi Kenichi could speak, Ishida Tetsuya stepped in front of him, quietly watching the two people in front of him.
It must be said that Tetsuya Ishida's bear-like community has a very strong sense of oppression, especially considering that the two people in the community are only a little over 1.6 meters tall.
"Both of them are from Class F. The one who looks a bit fierce is called Maeda Kazue, and the other is Kosaki Masahide. I heard from others that they seem to be members of some delinquent gang outside, and they are said to be very dangerous."
Listening to Kobayashi Yoshihara's whispered words, Uesugi Kenji nodded to show that he understood. From Kobayashi Yoshihara and the others, he had learned how powerful school bullying and gangsters were in Japan.
Gangs can even legally form organizations and sometimes even help the Self-Defense Forces maintain order, making them somewhat of a hybrid of law and order. Apart from stricter control over firearms, gang activities are virtually unbridled, something unimaginable in China in the past.
"You have backup, huh? Interesting. But I advise you not to meddle. I'm here for this kid. Hey, I don't think you can't even come to the rooftop with us, can you?" Maeda Kazue's lips twitched as he looked at Ishida Tetsuya's tall figure, then his gaze fell on Uesugi Kenichi.
Chapter Sixteen: Children Playing House
"Let's go." Uesugi Kenichi patted Ishida on the shoulder and walked past him. Although he didn't know why the other party had come to him, since the other party had already provoked him, he had no reason to back down!
Although this body is not currently strong, his past experiences have taught him that he cannot back down in the face of such provocations, not even a little bit. As long as you show the slightest sign of weakness, the same troubles will keep coming your way.
So even if it means getting hurt, you should make the bullies understand that such bullying is very costly, and at the very least, it will make them wary.
Upon arriving at the rooftop, Kobayashi Yoshihara and the others silently followed behind, including even the otaku Sato Hideki.
This warmed Uesugi Kenichi's heart. After all, they were all students, and he could understand why they didn't come because they were afraid or worried about getting into trouble. He didn't feel any resentment or blame.
"You can tell me what it is." Uesugi Kenichi looked around to see if there was anything he could use, so that he would be prepared if a fight broke out.
Although Maeda and E were only two people, they didn't seem to be too afraid of so many people. "Kid, let me tell you, stay away from Kato Rumiko. She's someone I've got my eye on."
So it really is because of a girl? Uesugi Kenichi thought to himself. He had already thought about it on the way here. He had absolutely no recollection of the two of them, and it had only been a short time since the start of the semester, so it was impossible for them to have any grudges. Therefore, it could only be because of the girl.
“If you know anything about this, you should know that I’m the one being harassed,” Uesugi Kenichi said calmly.
"I don't care about all that. Just stay away from her. Figure out a way yourself," Maeda Kazue said arrogantly.
"What if I say no?" Uesugi Kenichi said in a deep voice, his dark eyes looking coldly at them, making Maeda and Eji feel a little flustered.
