Chapter 114 Keeping the Appointment
Chapter 114 Keeping the Appointment
After seeing the teacher off, Wei Hongsi returned to his office to continue his other work.
Just before I was about to leave work, I received a message from Feng Weixu: "Little Si, the boss is back!"
Wei Hongsi couldn't help but smile and replied, "We've already met."
Feng Weixu replied with a string of ellipses. He then sent another message: "How about we all get together on Saturday afternoon?"
Wei Hongsi replied, "I have no problem."
Usually, gatherings among fellow students start around 3 or 4 pm, and after dinner, a decision is made on whether to continue organizing activities.
Yuan Zhenhui's sharing session is supposedly starting at 2 PM, so I might be able to attend and see what it's about. If it conflicts with my schedule, I'll skip it for now.
After getting off work, Wei Hongsi went downstairs to wait for Lu Jiaqi, preparing to take her car to the dinner location.
As soon as Lu Jiaqi's car pulled up, Wei Hongsi took a step forward, and a woman came over and opened the back door: "Engineer Wei, please get in the car."
Wei Hongsi was taken aback. She looked to be about twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, with youthful makeup and clothing, appearing to be about twenty-four or twenty-five years old, with a regular face and a perfectly appropriate smile.
He quickly realized that this was Li Xuan, who was in the same group as Lu Jiaqi.
Li Xuan had previously participated in the fan meeting organized by Ji Cheng for Shen Qingjiang, and later in the testing and treatment of those in the amusement park who had been affected by Plan B's "mental pollution".
However, Wei Hongsi only took a few photos with her and did not have a direct conversation with her, so his impression of her was not very deep and he needed to think about it to remember.
Li Xuan had been standing not far from him just now, and seemed to have nodded to him, but he assumed it wasn't directed at him and ignored her.
Looking back now, I can't help but feel a little embarrassed. I immediately smiled and said, "Thank you," before getting into the car.
"You're welcome," Li Xuan said with a smile, opening the passenger door and getting in.
Wei Hongsi then knew that Li Xuan would be having dinner with them that evening.
Those who can be mentored by Lu Jiaqi should have good professional skills and could perhaps be considered as a liaison for external affairs.
Perhaps because he had spent the whole afternoon selecting people, Wei Hongsi couldn't help but have this thought while walking down the street, and he found it a little funny.
The three chatted casually on the way, and naturally, they had something in common: work. However, Lu Jiaqi guided the conversation well, only talking about lighthearted topics.
Li Xuan occasionally chimes in, her words always perfectly timed and never stealing the lead in the conversation; she's a great mood-maker.
There was a lot of traffic on the weekend, and it took about half an hour to finally reach my destination.
Ji Jiaqi booked a private banquet restaurant with a very nice ambiance. She chose this place mainly because of Wei Hongsi's preferences. Since Wei Hongsi neither drinks nor listens to music, many of the places she frequents are not quite suitable.
Ji Cheng arrived before them and was already seated in the private room. Accompanying Ji Cheng was a woman in her early thirties, with a rather plump figure and a face that exuded peace and tranquility. She wasn't particularly beautiful, but she was very approachable.
Only after Ji Cheng introduced her did I realize that this was his wife, who also had the surname Lu, and was from the same clan as Lu Jiaqi.
After everyone was seated, a waiter came in to take our order.
Ji Cheng and Lu Jiaqi suggested that Wei Hongsi order first, and Wei Hongsi, without being polite, ordered two dishes according to his own preferences before handing the menu to Ji Cheng. After Ji Cheng finished ordering, he asked Lu Jiaqi to add more.
This restaurant offers both Eastern and Western cuisine, providing a wide range of choices. However, most people ordered dishes that suited Wei Hongsi's taste.
Wei Hongsi said, "Actually, I don't have any dietary restrictions. I can eat anything, whether it's salty, spicy, sweet, or savory. Don't go out of your way to take care of me."
Lu Jiaqi said, "I can eat anything, so you can order whatever you want."
After ordering, she returned the tablet to the waiter. She then smiled and said, "Mr. Ji should understand. I've been working as a service provider for many years, and my own tastes have changed a lot. It all depends on the client's taste! Actually, it's quite good, otherwise I wouldn't know that I've given up so many delicious foods."
Ji Cheng laughed and said, "Me too, but I might be a little better off than President Lu. Sometimes I'm treated like a grandson, and sometimes when I get lucky, I can even be the father."
His wife glanced at him sideways and scolded, "What nonsense are you talking about?"
Ji Cheng didn't take it to heart and said with a smile, "Of course there's nothing between me and President Lu. We've collaborated several times, and she's never treated me to a meal before."
Lu Jiaqi said, "Oh dear, that was my rudeness. I'll definitely make it up to you later."
Ji Cheng said, "That's not true. You didn't invite me to dinner because I'm a small client. So I think I should look for more business to cooperate with President Lu in the future."
Lu Jiaqi said, "Then thank you, President Ji."
Wei Hongsi listened with a smile. He knew that while their words were based on facts, they were somewhat exaggerated. Backed by a large, powerful company, even as a service provider, they wouldn't face too much embarrassment.
Unlike some small companies, which may have less-than-ideal moments in their pursuit of business, some small company bosses are particularly harsh on their subordinates, often as a way of venting their frustrations with clients.
However, while we may know this, their ability to handle this kind of work is partly due to their innate personality, and only after continuous exposure and learning opportunities do they develop this skill.
Therefore, Wei Hongsi felt even more strongly that the project team really needed this kind of talent. Thinking of this, he couldn't help but glance at Li Xuan.
Lu Jiaqi said, "Of course I'm very happy that Ji Cheng is giving me business to do. Especially these recent tasks, they've given me a very rare opportunity. So I'm truly grateful to President Ji and Engineer Wei."
Ji Cheng said, "Yes, yes, yes! Engineer Wei really saved me this time." He then turned to his wife and said, "This Engineer Wei is the one I've been telling you about lately."
Ji Cheng's wife smiled and nodded, then said to Wei Hongsi, "Engineer Wei, thank you so much. I know you don't drink, so I'll offer you tea later."
Wei Hongsi quickly replied, "No need, no need, sister-in-law, you're too kind."
As we chatted, dishes were served one after another.
The drinks that Lu Jiaqi prepared were the park's newly launched beverages, which were quite appropriate for the occasion.
After everyone had eaten for a while, Wei Hongsi asked about the condition of the people receiving treatment at the amusement park.
Ji Cheng is very concerned about this matter and has been paying close attention to those people recently. According to his observation, he has not found anything unusual.
Those with more severe cases of "psychological virus" infection will need to go to Zhiwei for testing tomorrow; he has already made arrangements for this.
Wei Hongsi felt relieved after hearing this. The onset of the "psychological virus" could be recurrent, which was difficult to predict. He would analyze the relevant data again after the testing was completed this week.
After the meal, everyone dispersed without making any further arrangements.
Throughout the entire meeting, Ji Cheng never mentioned meeting Wei Hongbo in the middle of the night, nor did he ask Wei Hongsi about Shen Qing looking for him.
