Chapter 168 New Song (Part 2)
Wei Hongsi thought Shen Qing's suggestion was rather absurd. Could there be anything more outrageous than having a tone-deaf person credited as a composer?
At the same time, he understood why Shen Qing had said "I wish us good results" during the meal.
"I just gave you a suggestion, what kind of collaborative creation is that?"
"Your suggestion was crucial; otherwise, those two pieces would never have been created," Shen Qing said earnestly.
Wei Hongsi couldn't help but laugh and shake his head: "You composed all the music. If I put my name on it, wouldn't that be like stealing your hard work for nothing?"
Shen Qing turned her head to look at him: "When you publish papers, don't you get your names listed as authors when your professors offer guidance?"
Wei Hongsi said, "That's different. Take our teacher for example. If his name is on the book, it must be because he provided very crucial guidance and ideas. Otherwise, he wouldn't allow his name to be on the book."
Shen Qing said, "The advice you gave me had the same effect. Actually, you shouldn't think this is a good thing. Many people don't think those two pieces are good. I just wanted to share the pressure with you."
Wei Hongsi turned to look at Shen Qing and found that she didn't seem to be joking. There was some sadness in her eyes, but a stubbornness on her lips.
He couldn't help but recall that when he attended Shen Qing's riverside concert, he had seen her express similar emotions.
In fact, Shen Qing is a rather sentimental person. Most artists have this trait to some extent; otherwise, how could they create works that are imbued with emotion?
However, she can quickly restrain and control her emotions, whether this is innate or acquired is unknown. She possesses a strong ability to reconstruct her self-awareness, which is likely closely related to this.
Wei Hongsi asked, "Are there really many people who are not optimistic?"
"Yes." Shen Qing leaned back in her chair and sighed softly. "I wanted to put those two songs on the new album, but the production company thought it would affect sales. They said they were works that hadn't been proven by the market or recognized by fans, and they weren't willing to take the risk."
Wei Hongsi then asked, "So how do you plan to publish it?"
Shen Qing said, "I plan to put one of my songs on the charts. If it can get into the top 20 on the weekly charts, they will agree to include those two songs in the new album. If the charts don't go well, the album release date will have to be postponed."
Although Wei Hongsi was unclear about the methods and difficulties of ranking, it sounded like Shen Qing was under a lot of pressure, and there seemed to be some element of gambling involved.
Thinking of this, he said, "If it's really as serious as you say, I'd be happy to help you share the burden."
Shen Qing turned her head and smiled, saying, "Then if any fans give feedback, you'll have to take the criticism with me."
Wei Hongsi joked, "If you're afraid of getting scolded, you can put my name first. Then your fans will know it's my fault, and you're just being dragged down."
Shen Qing smiled and said, "That's a good idea. But you can use a pseudonym instead of your real name, then even if someone criticizes you, they won't be able to find out."
Wei Hongsi nodded and said, "Okay, you can handle it."
Shen Qing asked, "What's your pen name? Or do you have any other aliases?"
Wei Hongsi said, "No, you can get it for me."
He certainly wouldn't use a pen name when publishing papers, and he hasn't published anything else besides that. He does have a nickname in the "Wan Liu" group, but using "Red Heart Four" as a pen name is a bit too much of a joke, and somewhat disrespectful to Shen Qing's carefully crafted work.
Since she'll never be in the music industry anyway, let Shen Qing make her own decision; good or bad, it's all hers.
Hearing him say that, Shen Qing began to ponder silently.
There weren't many cars on the road at this time, and the two of them chatted for about ten minutes before arriving at Shen Qing's apartment.
Wei Hongsi drove the car in and parked it next to the elevator.
Shen Qing unbuckled her seatbelt and said, "Then I'll head back first. Be careful on your way."
"Okay, goodbye." Wei Hongsi waved.
Shen Qing got out of the car, walked to the elevator, turned around and saw Wei Hongsi's car drive away, so she hummed a song as she entered the elevator.
When she got home upstairs, she saw the lights were on and knew her aunt was still waiting for her, so she called out, "Auntie, I'm home!"
Tang Jinxia had been looking down from the balcony. Hearing the door open, she came over and looked at Shen Qing, who was changing her shoes in the entryway, and said, "You went out for a bit, and you seem to be in a good mood."
Shen Qing said, "Yes. Wei Hongsi's senior brothers and sisters are all very interesting."
She changed her shoes, put her sunglasses, mask, and other odds and ends on the shoe cabinet, and sat down on the sofa in the living room.
Tang Jinxia went to the kitchen and brought out a plate of cut fruit, placed it on the coffee table, and then sat down next to Shen Qing to chat with her and inquire about the situation.
Tang Jinxia finds it hard to feel at ease when her niece goes out to eat with friends alone. If Wei Hongsi weren't with them, she wouldn't agree at all, or if she did agree, she would insist on going along.
Shen Qing understood her aunt's thoughts, so she ate fruit while chatting with her.
Tonight's dinner made her feel very relaxed, and she rediscovered that long-lost atmosphere of gathering with friends.
Wei Hongsi's fellow students neither acted reservedly or ingratiatingly because she was a singer, nor did they deliberately avoid her identity as a singer or pretend she was an ordinary person. The way they got along was very natural.
They knew she was a singer, and they admired her achievements, even asking for autographed CDs like fans. But other than that, they treated her no differently.
If there's anything special about them, it's that they rarely mention anything related to their major. If they do say a few words, they quickly switch to casual conversation to avoid making Shen Qing a background character because she doesn't understand.
Moreover, from beginning to end, no one asked to take a photo with her, nor did anyone treat her like a star and ask her to sing a few lines.
As for Wei Hongsi, needless to say. It seems that he has had this attitude since the very first meeting.
However, they couldn't be considered acquainted at that time, and they hadn't communicated.
Tang Jinxia heard Shen Qing say that she had done a verification experiment with Wei Hongsi and the others in the afternoon. Although she didn't understand it very well, she knew that it was a serious matter. She also heard Shen Qing talk about the meal, which was nothing special. As long as it was normal, that was fine.
Once I had a better understanding of the situation, I asked, "Have you made up your mind about your new album?"
"Yes, I'm going to put a song on the charts!" Shen Qing nodded, speaking with great determination.
Tang Jinxia was silent for a moment, then said, "It's good that you've made up your mind. Make a schedule as soon as possible so I can help you plan."
Shen Qing said, "Let's do it in a week. I don't want to drag it out for too long."
Tang Jinxia objected, saying, "No, the time is too tight. What can I do in a week?"
After discussing it for a while, Shen Qing made a concession and set the date for two weeks later.
