Chapter 214 "Adam's Gift" - Controlling the Scene
Seeing that Raphael said there was no need to worry too much, "The Saint of Mysteries" Butis did not continue to discuss the matter.
In his view, Raphael was a follower of the "Creator" and could not possibly be unaware of the risks of this banquet.
Raphael's continued composure demonstrates his confidence in facing these risks.
Butis simply asked, "I've heard that someone is spreading rumors about the conflict between the Aurora Society and the Iron Cross Society?"
Raphael nodded: "I had someone spread the word."
Boutis stared into Raphael's eyes for a second or two, but still didn't ask why.
It was almost time, so Raphael, accompanied by two of his men, took a carriage to the "Grand Hotel Backlund".
The two subordinates were Wagner, Raphael's right-hand man in the Aurora Society, and Moore, who later served Raphael. One was a Sequence 7 and the other a Sequence 8. When they boarded the vehicle, they were even prepared to die.
Meanwhile, Butis was having tea at Raphael's villa, ready to provide support at any time.
The other "low-sequence" extraordinary individuals could only wait anxiously for news, and some were already considering what they should do after Mr. A's death.
Butis sighed. The last operation caused a break in Backlund's power. If all else fails, they will have to bring in another Sequence 5 level divine messenger to take charge.
Inside Raphael's carriage, Raphael smiled at his two subordinates and said, "I'll go into the room myself in a moment; you two wait in the carriage."
Wagner paused for a moment before resolutely saying, "Mr. A, since we intend to follow you, we have considered the possibility of this—"
Raphael raised his hand: "No need for sentimentality. You're outside dealing with the opponents watching you. They won't be too high-level; at most, they'll send a Sequence 7 with two lower-sequence members—well, most likely not a Sequence 7."
Wagner opened his mouth, and Mr. A seemed to mean: I'll handle what's inside the house, and you guys handle what's outside.
Raphael patted Wagner on the shoulder and said, "I called you here to help you gain merit! I still have the traits of 'Rose Bishop' and 'Hermit'. Since I'm going to give them to you through the normal process, you'll need to make some special contributions."
"Hurry up and digest the potion; these properties are still waiting for you ahead."
The tall and imposing Wagner exchanged a glance with Moore and once again chose to believe Mr. A.
The carriage arrived at the banquet venue, the "Backland Grand Hotel," one of the most luxurious hotels in all of Loen, where diners were either wealthy merchants or nobles.
Raphael, wearing a trench coat and with a cigarette dangling from his mouth, stepped off the carriage. After looking around, members of the "Ironblood Cross" immediately came forward to greet him and invite him inside.
Wagner observed their surroundings carefully. They secretly breathed a sigh of relief. The Ironblood Cross did indeed have people watching the place where the carriages were parked, but they were three "low-sequence" extraordinary beings, no match for him and Moore.
On the other side, after Raphael was led inside, many eyes turned to him, some from the waiters and some from the guests dining in the lobby.
Because Raphael wasn't wearing formal attire, and his gait was arrogant and lacked any gentlemanly manners.
Many people frowned upon seeing this, assuming it was some unsophisticated person dining in such a high-class place.
Raphael glanced at them and smiled: Demons love souls like this.
He suddenly had an idea: after he became a "demon", he could come to the restaurant again, but then it wouldn't be as simple as just coming to eat.
Members of the "Iron Blood Cross" led Raphael into their room.
There was a long table in the room, and six people were already seated on the inside of the table. The person sitting in the main seat was a middle-aged man with red hair and eyebrows. He quietly scrutinized Raphael and confirmed that Mr. A of the Aurora Society was a Sequence 6 "zombie".
At that moment, he revealed a toothy smile.
The others were also scrutinizing Raphael, but he felt no pressure whatsoever. He pulled off the chair on the outer side and sat down, saying, "The food is ready."
He noticed that there were two Sequence 7s guarding the goal behind him.
The middle-aged man sitting in the main seat was Eberhard, the head of the "Iron Cross" in Backlund.
He smiled and said, "Don't rush, let's get down to business first. Let me introduce myself."
Eberhard pointed to the person next to him and said, "This is my assistant, Dick. He was just promoted a few days ago and is currently a Reaper."
Raphael's eyes flickered, meaning his intelligence was wrong; the other side had two "Reapers".
Then he had to change his original plan and first use "Adam's Gift" to control the situation.
The reason there was no such plan before was mainly because "Adam's Gift" is a considerable burden for a Sequence 6 spiritual being, and he did not want to consume too much spirituality at the beginning.
But things are different now. If he doesn't control the situation from the beginning, he might not have had the chance to use "Adam's Gift".
Although it has the ability to "travel", there are so many people on the other side that it is very likely that it will be killed before it even enters the spirit world.
The reason Eberhard introduced Dick right away was, of course, to put enough pressure on Raphael.
Eberhard said directly, "You should know that a Sequence 6 is not capable of hosting an extraordinary gathering, but I can host it for you."
Raphael smiled and said, "I'm not one to waste time talking nonsense."
"All I can say is that your last words were terrible."
Eberhard's smile vanished, and the others rose, ready to take action.
But at that very moment, Raphael's spirituality had already flowed into "Adam's Gift," and an invisible ripple that sent chills down one's spine spread out, plunging the eight "Iron-Blooded Earth Society" members in the room into a state of "madness."
Some of them were laughing wildly, some were praying devoutly in a certain direction, and some were frantically scratching their hair.
Even outside the rooms, waiters suddenly threw down their plates and started fighting. Some diners suddenly stood up and started dancing, turning the scene into chaos. The security guards were initially baffled, unsure of what was going on.
Raphael immediately stood up in the room, slammed his hand on the table, and the solid wood table snapped in two. As he stepped forward, he unleashed the "magma sword" of the "Apostle of Desire" from the "Crawling Hunger," cleaving Eberhard in two.
Then, with a swift stroke of his longsword, he went to slash at another "Reaper," Dick.
Suddenly, a "blazing white spear" appeared in Dick's hand, blocking the "magma sword." However, because Raphael's strength was too great, he directly knocked him away with the sword.
Seeing that he had failed, Raphael immediately threw the magma greatsword and continued to attack Dick. He then turned around and tore off a large chunk of flesh from the neck of a Sequence 7 "Pyromaniac," causing blood to spurt out.
In the blink of an eye, Raphael had killed two people.
