Chapter 350 Awakening
Tang Zijun woke up amidst a series of exclamations.
As his spirit returned to his body, Tang Zijun's eyelashes trembled slightly at first, but then he heard Su Siyao's excited shouts in his ears.
"He's awake! Brother Tang is awake!"
Then came another series of "thump thump thump" footsteps, accompanied by Qin Nan and the others whispering as they approached.
"Quick, quick, Tang Cao, your brother has woken up!"
Subconsciously, she raised her hands and stretched. When she opened her eyes, she saw that her bed was surrounded by people, and Tang Cao was staring at her with wide eyes.
"...What, what are you doing?"
Tang Cao's face showed undisguised worry. She looked Tang Zijun up and down, and only after confirming that he wasn't missing any limbs did she smile. "Brother, you're finally back!"
"Why are you talking like I've been gone for ages?" Tang Zijun smirked, then glanced out the window and frowned. "Wait, why is it getting dark?"
"You slept for a really long time. Although I don't know how long you stayed in the dream world, you've slept for more than thirty hours here," Qin Nan said casually, leaning against the door frame.
Although her tone was calm, the worry in her eyes seemed genuine.
"More than thirty hours!?" Tang Zijun suddenly sat up in bed.
"To be precise, it was thirty-seven hours. This seems to be the longest you've ever stayed in the dream world," Qin Nan continued. "If we weren't unaware of your situation, we would have already notified the Demon Surveillance Bureau."
Tang Zijun was taken aback by the time. He was indeed startled by the time. In the past, when he stayed in the dream world for several hours, only a few minutes or half an hour would pass in reality. This was the first time he had encountered a dream world that lasted for more than a day.
But he quickly calmed down. Seeing the concerned expressions on everyone's faces, Tang Zijun smiled and shook her head. "Ah, this time there were some special circumstances, so I stayed a little longer. Don't worry, I'm fine."
"Special circumstances? What special circumstances?" Su Siyao blinked and asked curiously.
"It's because Elder Pan asked me to collect as many samples of creatures from the dream world as possible. I happened to have found a human city-state there, so I took a stroll around." Without intending to hide anything, Tang Zijun told the truth, then glanced down at himself. "By the way, how come I'm in bed? Wasn't I at the computer desk before?"
"It's because Sister Tan was worried that your blood circulation would be poor if you slept sitting up, which would make your hands numb, so we moved you to the bed," Qin Nan said softly.
Su Siyao added, "That's right. It turns out that Sister Tan's concerns were very necessary. I can't even stand sleeping on my desk for one class period. If you slept on your desk for more than 30 hours, you'd probably be sore all over when you woke up."
"Oh, I see..." Tang Zijun scratched his head. He hadn't really thought of this when Lao Chang hypnotized him. Then he looked up at Tan Zhixin. "Thanks."
Tan Zhixin didn't say much, only nodded slightly, and then asked thoughtfully, "You just said you encountered a human city-state in the dream world. Are there similar civilizations there?"
"Aside from the language being different from Earth's, the people there are quite similar to Earthlings. I've only met people who look like Westerners, but they weren't surprised to see me, so I guess there must also be people who look like Easterners there."
Tang Zijun answered slowly, paused, and then continued.
"I call them dream dwellers. Oh, right, there are elves and orcs there, and I've heard there are giants and dragons too, but I don't know if there are any dwarves."
"An elf!?"
Tang Cao sprang up from the bed, and Su Siyao, who was next to her, widened her eyes upon hearing this.
The two little girls were extremely excited.
Seeing their reaction, as if they wanted to enter the dream world on the spot, Tang Zijun pressed her hand down. "I know you're very excited, but please don't get too excited yet. I've only heard about elves and orcs from other people; I've never seen them with my own eyes, so I don't know what they look like, or whether they're similar to what we imagine them to be."
"Brother Tang, have you ever heard them talk about mermaids or similar creatures?" Su Siyao asked, clasping her hands together.
"I've never heard of mermaids, and I didn't ask. But I'm sure there are fish-men there. I even bought one when I was collecting monster corpses." Tang Zijun shrugged.
"A fish-man!" Su Siyao's eyes sparkled.
Just then, Xiaobai curiously came over. "What are fishmen?"
"You don't even know what a fish-man is?" Little Grey fluttered its wings and landed on the clothes rack. "Have you seen the movies? You know, those fish-men who are half fish and half human."
"What about the mermaid?" Little White tilted her head.
"Huh..." Little Grey paused for a moment. "Half human, half fish?"
"You're just changing the order, aren't you?" Xiaobai said, speechless.
In the end, Su Siyao searched for pictures of mermaids and fish-men on her phone and showed them to Xiaobai, which made her understand the difference between the two creatures.
While they were discussing fantasy creatures, Tan Zhixin looked at Tang Zijun. "By the way, after you entered the dream world, Katie set off to find you. Did you see her?"
"I saw her. That girl startled me. I was on my way from the settlement to the human city-state when she came rushing over in a train," Tang Zijun explained the situation. "I told her to turn back. She should be here soon. I left the things I bought in her car..."
Just then, a strange noise came from the lobby.
Suddenly, a golden light appeared out of thin air, and the fluorescent lights in the air seemed to come alive, constantly flowing rapidly and becoming brighter and brighter, eventually converging into the outline of a human figure.
This unusual phenomenon immediately caught the attention of everyone present except Su Siyao. However, when they realized that the familiar magical reaction came from their own kind, they were all relieved.
Qin Nan leaned back against the bedroom doorframe. "You're back pretty quickly, Katie. We were just talking about you."
Katie emerged from the light. "I've walked this route before, so I'm familiar with it. Also, I was worried about my brother, so..."
As she spoke, she immediately ran to the door, her eyes constantly searching for Tang Zijun's figure. When she saw that Tang Zijun on the bed had woken up, she finally smiled.
"Your skill is amazing! You teleported right to my house."
"My body is merely an embodiment of energy. As long as it's within a certain range, I can project it to any location at any time using magic," Katie explained softly.
Upon seeing Katie, Tang Zijun quickly asked, "Katie, where's the thing I gave you?"
"What is it?" Tangcao asked.
"Of course, these are gifts for you guys," Tang Zijun said with a smile, ruffling Tang Cao's hair. "We finally got to stroll around the market in this other world, how could we not bring you some 'local specialties'?"
"Aaaaaah!!"
Upon hearing this, Tang Cao and Su Siyao immediately screamed.
Even Tang Zijun, who had expected this, was startled. "Shh, keep your voice down, or you'll attract the wolf again. Don't disturb the neighbors in the middle of the night."
"Oh, oh, sorry, sorry..." the two little girls quickly apologized, but they were still too excited to speak coherently. "Gifts, gifts, gifts, gifts!!"
"Alright, let's go to the living room to talk. There's almost no room left in my bedroom."
After getting out of bed, Tang Zijun arrived in the living room surrounded by everyone.
Katie didn't say much, but clapped her hands, and then, in a burst of golden light, a leather bag the size of a backpack appeared on the coffee table.
Noticing Qin Nan's somewhat surprised gaze, Katie whispered, "If I can project my body out, I can naturally send the things in the carriage out as well."
Unlike Qin Nan, Tang Cao and Su Siyao had already opened the leather bag long ago.
"I plan to have Katie send those monster corpses to the Bureau of Magical Investigation. We don't know yet if there are any contaminants or germs left on them, so I won't show them to you."
As Tang Zijun explained, she walked over to the sofa and sat down, then took the items out of the leather bag one by one.
"These are all trinkets I bought at the market in the dream world. They're said to be alchemical products, but they don't actually carry any power. I think they're quite pretty, and they should make good jewelry."
After a pause, Tang Zijun handed the white bracelet and red pendant to Tang Cao and Su Siyao. "These are for you two."
"Thank you, bro (Brother Tang)."
Excitedly accepting the jewelry from Tang Zijun, the two girls immediately put it on. If the environment hadn't been inappropriate, they probably would have taken a selfie and posted it on their WeChat Moments.
With a smile, Tang Zijun took out a blue feather badge and a golden crown. "Qin Nan, Katie, these are yours."
"Oh, there's still mine too.::" Qin Nan blushed.
Katie's smile widened. "Thank you, brother."
"Ugh! Brother's biased! Why did he give Fourth Sister a crown?" Tang Cao said sourly, looking at the crown in Katie's hand.
"Stop fooling around." Tang Zijun shook her head with a smile and flicked Tang Cao's forehead. "This isn't a crown, it's just an ordinary crown ornament, and it's not made of gold, but plated with alchemy."
"Wow! Sister Nan, this feather badge is so exquisite!" Su Siyao moved closer to Qin Nan.
"It's...it's alright." Qin Nan smiled slightly, then looked at Tang Zijun as if nothing had happened. "By the way, I still don't know what Sister Tan's gift is."
Upon hearing this, everyone focused their attention on Tang Zijun, who didn't keep them in suspense and took out a handkerchief from her leather bag.
It's called a handkerchief, but it's actually more like a canvas woven from some special material. It's a thick, square layer with patterns made up of various strange creatures.
"This is for you." Tang Zijun looked at Tan Zhixin. "I didn't know what you liked, but I thought this was quite interesting, so I bought it."
"Thank you, I like it very much." Tan Zhixin smiled gently, took the canvas with both hands, and became more and more fascinated as she looked at the pattern on it.
Everyone was excitedly fiddling with their own gifts.
Xiao Bai, who had remained silent until now, finally couldn't hold back any longer.
She leaped onto the table, sticking her entire head into the leather bag. Finding it empty, she abruptly turned to look at Tang Zijun.
"And mine!?"
Tang Zijun twitched her lips awkwardly.
"You, your what?"
Upon hearing this, Xiaobai immediately charged forward with a savage gait.
"Tang Zijun, you're dead!!"
