Chapter 498 Laughter Forever, My Favorite is Batman!
When Lex Luthor hunched over and entered the main control room of the Night Owl spaceship, he saw Night Owl waiting for him.
On the huge screen behind him, several figures were hiding themselves in the darkness.
Luther glanced at them briefly and roughly recognized a few of the members.
Starro, the "Conqueror of the Universe," was the most telepathic starfish he had ever seen. This guy made Luther afraid to remove his telepathic shield for even a moment.
Lady Styx, a female alien capable of manipulating dark matter to form humanoid forms, is a synonym for a terrifying force spanning seven sectors.
(Note: The villain Styx from DC was mentioned in the chapter about the Blue Beetle, so she will not be repeated here.)
Despair Demon, a pink, one-eyed alien with telepathic abilities.
(Note: Despair Demon, the villain in DC, is also the villain in Martian Manhunter.)
Onima Shin, the "Soul Eater," is a dangerous metal giant covered in N metals.
(Note: Soul Eater once caused a major incident in Infinite Crisis: Lann-Sennagan War, but this character was later completely forgotten by DC.)
And the most dangerous one among them...
Luther stared at the blank screen.
The Galactic Golems were giants created by scientists from Daxing to fight against a tyrant. They were weapons of war, but unfortunately, after the rebellion against the tyrant was over, the giants went berserk and destroyed their own kind.
This guy is practically a miniature galaxy, with a tiny mini-planet on his forehead, which Luther speculates might be his only weakness... but even so, his strength still ranks among the top of the group.
And number 6, Lex Luthor from Earth.
He climbed the steps and soon stood before Night Owl.
Of all the dangerous individuals who have allied with Night Owl, Lex Luthor is the only one who would actually appear here in his true form.
The reason is simple: the other four are all cosmic overlords who dominate with powerful superpowers or superhuman physical abilities. Their status is similar to that of Mongo, who was once defeated by Batman, or Brainiac, and they are the Green Lantern Corps' main targets of defense.
Luther, on the other hand, is relatively simple. He's just a weak Earthling whose main ability is intelligence. Letting Luther into Night Owl's ship wouldn't be dangerous—in fact, underestimating Luther was definitely Night Owl's biggest mistake.
With the Green Lantern Corps and Yellow Lantern Corps both severely weakened, and Luthor conspiring with Night Owl to kidnap over 2000 of the Green Lantern Corps' strongest members, the forces of order in the Batman universe have been greatly weakened.
Under normal circumstances, cosmic overlords like Lady Styx and the Galactic Golem would have swarmed in and caused trouble long ago once they discovered the Green Lantern Corps' weakness. But now, facing the threat of the Anti-Monitors together, these cosmic overlords have no such inclination.
They formed an alliance with Night Owl, trading their power for a chance to leave the universe with him.
Night Owl nodded to Luther.
"Looks like everyone's here now. Let's start assigning tasks. Galaxy Puppet, you're in charge of moving the coordinates... Despair Demon, you're in charge of..."
"Everyone must act at the same time, and there can be no slightest error in this coordination, in order for my—our universe—to move. It is important to note that once we do this, it will immediately attract the attention of the anti-surveillance agents."
"He's focused on dismantling Batman's universe," Night Owl said. "But my betrayal will still enrage him. To prevent him from abandoning Batman's universe to kill us first, we must wait until Batman triggers the Speed Force storm before we start pushing the universe out of control. Time may be tight, and we can't afford to make any mistakes."
Everyone was listening to him.
Then the owl paused and said:
"There's one more thing. We need to temporarily change our plans... We must get close to Batman's universe and then, through the method of overlapping the two universes, directly transfer all living beings on Batman's mother Earth."
Based on this plan, Luther offered me a countermeasure to prevent ordinary people from his universe from being transferred to another universe and falling to their deaths or getting stuck in mountain structures. All we need to do is use a specific frequency to…”
"Wait, Night Owl, this isn't part of our agreement."
But before Night Owl could finish speaking, he was interrupted by the Galactic Golem: "You told us before that all we needed to do was activate this cosmic escape; there was no need to get any closer to the Anti-Monitor and that universe destined to be sacrificed!"
A giant, shimmering with starlight, spoke through the screen in a deafening voice: "This is completely unnecessary; it will only increase the risk—"
"So if you're willing to die in Batman's place, I'd welcome it with open arms."
Galaxy Puppet was interrupted before he could finish speaking. Luther taunted him without waiting for Night Owl to open his mouth.
He knew this was one of the reasons why Night Owl had allowed him to board the ship; there were certain things that Night Owl, as the mastermind behind the plan, shouldn't say, and Luther was his mouthpiece.
"How dare you speak to the great Galactic Puppet—"
"You're sending someone almost as strong as you to their death," Luther said. "You think this will be without consequences? You think it will be free and a given?"
He said, "How could you be so stupid as to say something like that? Wake up, the world isn't your mother."
"I agree with what Lex Luthor said." Before the Galactic Golem could continue speaking, Lady Styx spoke up from the side: "Time shouldn't be wasted on this pointless argument. The Anti-Monitor is coming soon, so we must act decisively. My toys are restless."
(Note: Lady Styx refers to the humanoid monsters she created using dark matter as "my toys")
With the Despair Demon and the Soul Eater agreeing, the Galactic Golem had no choice but to reluctantly abandon his proposal. But he still said, "Damn bastard, wasting our time. Once we get to the new universe, I'll kill all his homeworld members who came with him."
Night Owl and Luther exchanged a glance, both understanding the unspoken message in each other's eyes: the Galactic Golem was too unstable and should be killed as soon as things were over.
Luther gestured, indicating to Night Owl that from the very first second he saw the Galactic Golem, he had been gathering intelligence on him and simulating plans to kill him, such as the tiny planet on his forehead being a weakness.
This is a special attack buff against teammates that he inherited from Batman.
After the meeting, Night Owl sat quietly in place, reviewing his entire plan in his mind.
Batman is taking Superman Supreme away, which will slow down his escape acceleration in the universe. However, Superman Supreme staying in Batman's universe to fight the Anti-Monitor effectively eliminates the time difference.
The problem is that after Superman Supreme stayed with Batman and arrived in the new universe, his original plan to use Superman Supreme to fight against the Galactic Heroes and other cosmic overlords fell through. He had to make other preparations to prevent these cosmic overlords from rebelling against him after their world started moving.
Therefore, retaining the ability to throw them off the bus at any time might be a good approach.
Night Owl never imagined that Batman would send Superman Supreme across the universe to attack him after Superman Supreme had absorbed all the sunlight. Once they got there, no one would be able to control Superman Supreme. Given Superman Supreme's personality, he would attack everyone around him as soon as he appeared.
if not?
Do you like Batman?
Thinking of this, Night Owl decided to observe Batman's situation again, but this time he found nothing.
Batman seems to have used the Speed Force to block his vision... Is he planning a final battle?
Indeed... now the issues are basically all in place.
……
……
……
"Batman, a mass fainting incident has occurred on Earth, starting in the Southern Hemisphere where it's still night... Everyone has fainted, they..."
"I did it."
Hal, the Green Lantern, was taken aback.
"you?"
"I used Starro's telepathic abilities. You don't know Starro yet, but you will soon. In short, I will put everyone to sleep according to the night's rhythm, and no one will know what happened today."
"I need everyone's support, but I'm also worried that people don't understand the current situation, and I'm afraid that some people will think I'm depriving them of their freedom... so I might as well just keep it a secret. Anyway, this might be the last time."
Hal heard Batman's voice, cold and lifeless, as if he had made some kind of decision.
"What are you talking about? Before and now, this is about freedom and rights... What are you doing, pressing on my shoulder?" Hal turned his head sharply, about to protest Martian Manhunter's actions, but then he pressed his head down, almost falling to the ground.
Batman shared his memories with them... a future where the Justice League was wiped out, a timeline reboot, and Batman's plans, which were not fully revealed and were hidden behind a thick fog.
In an instant, a flood of memories and thoughts rushed into Hal's mind. The holder of the Willpower Ring quickly realized what was happening and clutched his head.
He knew why Martian Manhunter had stopped him. Hal realized that Martian Manhunter, being a telepath, must have understood these things before he did.
"How could this happen? How could this be..."
Then he pressed the communicator again: "Batman, you can't do this. You always save people without them knowing the truth. Do you treat them like babies? Or like stupid fools who can't tell right from wrong?"
"Do you think they'll oppose you or attack you because of these things?"
"You think they'll be ungrateful, and you're keeping them from knowing the truth just because you're afraid of that? You need their help, so you resort to deception to get it? What do you take them for, some baby who needs to be pampered?"
But his questioning only earned him Batman's indifferent voice: "You should have seen it, Hal, we live in a place called the Dark Multiverse. Our world will always go in a worse direction. This isn't a tarot card draw; it's an absolute fact."
He said, "Never...never test humanity. Especially what I'm about to do. I will protect them, I will protect my world, let me tell you, Hal..."
"No one will die today, everything is going according to plan... I said it," he whispered. "It's time to get started, Hal, everything is ready."
Hal heard Batman's voice, as calm and indifferent as ever, followed by the last sentence: "Please, Hal, it's really dangerous right now... really, really dangerous. Please help."
He almost thought he was imagining the weariness in Batman's voice, but then the green lantern ring on his hand began to vibrate.
"A large number of purple lights have been detected around you... You are now surrounded by purple lights... Danger..."
"This is unbelievable..."
Hal ignored the AI's command for him to escape from the Green Lantern Ring and flew straight out of the Hall of Justice. He then saw that under the night sky, half of the horizon was stained with an intoxicating purple, turning into a jubilant ocean, while the other half was an endless tide of blue and red.
"I really saw Batman..." Hal didn't even have time to finish his sentence before he was overwhelmed by the numerous purple rings passing by him. The rings were so numerous that they blotted out the sky, even obscuring the moon.
The densely packed purple rings invaded Earth in a way that triggered trypophobia. Before Hal Jordan's very eyes, the ring flew toward a passerby he saw being taken down by Batman using his telepathic abilities.
He was an old man with white hair, wearing strange glasses and a strange Hawaiian outfit that didn't match the night at all. He looked like an actor who had been pulled onto a film set for a cameo role during a vacation.
However, this did not prevent a purple lantern ring from hovering beside him, followed closely by a Starro clone.
As the starfish clone, like a facehugger, imprinted itself on the old man's face amidst the old man's "Hey, nice!" voice, an animal's head quickly grew on his shoulder, and then a purple lamp ring was slipped onto his hand.
"Intelligent life form has been identified."
Stan Lee from Earth.
You harbor a deep love within your heart.
Welcome to Starsapphire!!!
The old man with two heads got up from the ground, and hysterical laughter followed immediately:
"Fear and confusion connect our two hearts."
It's hard to sleep alone on the darkest night.
A delicate finger slips into a ring as she changes her makeup.
A solitary love fills the world with purple light!
"Hahahaha, Batman! We respect your teeth!"
"Whatever you do, we support you!"
"My absolute favorite! My absolute favorite! Batman!"
