Chapter 54: Moen's Method
Chapter 54: Moen's Method
"It's Natsu and Gray. Those two brats got into a fight this morning, and now the dorm looks like this."
Upon seeing Moen, Reinhardt, who was busy repairing the dormitory, offered an explanation.
"Uncle Reinhardt? You can do this too?!"
It wasn't until Reinhardt spoke that Moen realized that the middle-aged man dressed as a worker, constantly banging on a hammer, was actually Reinhardt, the guild's master of defensive magic arrays.
"Hey, people in our line of work have to have some means of making a living."
Reinhardt laughed and replied. He wasn't joking; weak mages really do need other ways to make a living, otherwise they might not be able to support themselves.
Moen rolled his eyes, ignoring Uncle Reinhardt's nonsense. Uncle Reinhardt's strength was not weak; his expertise in this was purely a hobby. The members of "Fairy Tail" certainly had a wide variety of hobbies.
Moen looked up and examined the area in the dormitory building with the large hole; it was indeed Natsu and Gray's room.
"Is...is it that dangerous?"
Elfman watched from the side, swallowing hard. His expression was worried. Could a fight really leave a huge hole in a house? Was this place... really suitable for him to live in?
"Don't worry, they are very careful and won't affect you."
Seeing Elfman's worried expression, Moen quickly reassured him, lest he scare the child away.
'Natsu! Gray! You're just causing me trouble!'
At the same time, Moen cursed Natsu and Gray in his heart. They caused trouble but didn't tell him, as if they were afraid of getting beaten up, right?
"I'm not afraid, Moen."
Although Elfman had some concerns, he did not back down.
As a respectable man, he couldn't be so easily intimidated. He also wanted to learn magic so that he could stop people from fighting if they did!
"Well done!"
Moen gave Elfman a thumbs up, this "little Elfman" also has a tenacious spirit.
Carrying his bag, Elfman followed Moen into the dormitory building. Although there was a big hole in Natsu and Gray's room, it did not prevent the other rooms from being used normally.
Soon, Moen settled Elfman in, and then instead of leaving, he chatted with Elfman in his room.
"Has your sister Mirajane always had this kind of personality?"
Moen asked, actively gathering information about the mission target. Knowing yourself and your enemy is the key to victory. To get Mirajane to accept this power, he had to find out why she was unwilling to accept it.
"No... Mira has always been very brave and lively."
Upon hearing Moen's question, Elfman's expression sombered. He spoke slowly, his words tinged with helplessness. He was clearly very anxious about his sister Mirajane's changes.
"At the beginning, after being targeted by the demon... no, after awakening and receiving magic at the beginning, my sister didn't become like this. She only started to become like this and depressed after the villagers targeted us and after we were hated by the villagers."
Elfman looked at Moen and told him his family's story. The boy's eyes held a glimmer of hope, clearly hoping that Moen could find a way to solve the problem.
Elfman couldn't think of a solution, and neither could Lisanna.
While they were wandering outside, he and Lisanna both heard their sister Mirajane struggling to cry at night. They both knew that their sister was going through a lot of emotional turmoil, which worried and saddened them both.
He would be extremely grateful to anyone who could find a way to turn his sister back to normal, and he would do anything for that person!
"So that's how it is."
After listening to Elfman's words, Moen narrowed his eyes. He seemed to have grasped some key points, key points that could break the deadlock!
The Mirajane we see now is not the real her, but a girl constantly tormented by guilt within her.
Mirajane's guilt is directed at Lisanna and Elfman, and the reason she hates the "demon's power" is also because of Lisanna and Elfman.
The three sisters, an older sister, a younger brother, and a younger sister, grew up relying on each other. Only Lisanna and Elfman could have made Mirajane like this; Mirajane doesn't care so much about other people's opinions.
She hated her own recklessness in insisting on destroying the demon, but ended up gaining the "power of the demon" by a twist of fate.
She hated this "demon power" because it was this power that caused Lisanna and Elfman to be hated along with her.
She felt that it was all her fault, that her willfulness had changed everything and taken away her younger siblings' originally difficult but peaceful life.
"Is...is that so?!"
After listening to Moen's analysis, Elfman was shocked. Then, after thinking about it carefully, he realized that the explanation did seem quite reasonable. Given his sister's personality, she was indeed very likely to think that way.
"But neither Lisanna nor I blame Mila!"
Elfman was getting anxious. He stood up abruptly, wanting to explain to his sister that the three of them had grown up relying on each other. He and Lisanna didn't care whether others liked them or not; they felt that as long as the family was together, that was enough.
Even though the three of them were wandering together, enduring wind and rain, they didn't feel it was hard, nor did they blame Mila.
"You really need to do something."
Moen nodded. Now that the crux of the problem has been found, all that's needed is to treat the symptoms.
The one who tied the knot must untie it; this matter can only be resolved by Elfman and Lisanna.
"I'm going to talk to Mira right now and get to the bottom of this!"
Upon hearing this, Elfman became anxious and wanted to leave immediately.
But Moen stopped him, because Moen felt that words alone were too weak and it was hard to say whether they could sway Mirajane's mind.
In order for the mission to succeed in the end, Moen felt that he had to make a decisive move and achieve the goal in one go, if possible.
"Would you like to learn to receive magic?"
After thinking for a moment, Moen asked Elfman.
"Huh? I do!"
Elfman paused for a moment, then immediately replied that the boy wasn't stupid and understood Moen's thoughts instantly.
He also learned to receive magic, and Lisanna also learned to receive magic, so that Mira wouldn't feel that it was because of her own specialness that the three of them were forced to live on the streets.
Both he and Lisanna have learned to receive magic, and they both enjoy receiving magic, which might help Mira stop being so resistant to it.
"It's a viable option, but it depends on whether you and Lisanna have the talent."
Moen was quite satisfied with this method; it would definitely have a big impact on Mirajane, but it remained to be seen whether it could be implemented.
