Chapter 22 Fishing Step by Step
Chapter 22 Fishing Step by Step
When Wu Feng and Chunmei returned with Li Yunrui, the four maids had already set up the camp.
Several large screens painted with landscapes enclosed a private space.
In the very center lay a large brocade carpet, upon which sat a chaise lounge, padded with a soft, white cashmere blanket, which looked very comfortable.
Li Yunrui walked back behind the screen and let out a soft sigh: "I'm tired from walking, I'll lie down for a while..."
Chunmei immediately helped her to the side of the chaise longue.
Li Yunrui lay on her side, her body curves clearly visible against the soft fabric.
She propped her head up with one hand, her long hair slipping down her shoulder, with a few stray strands clinging to her cheek.
"Your Highness, please rest for a while," Wu Feng said softly. "I'm going fishing, and I'll make you some grilled fish later."
"Hmm..." Li Yunrui replied softly, drawing out the last syllable of her voice, "Go ahead, I'm waiting for your grilled fish."
Wu Feng immediately took out the fishing gear he had prepared in advance from the back of the carriage.
He walked to the riverbank, found a shady spot under a tree, skillfully baited his hook, cast his line, and then sat quietly on a small chair to wait.
The river was about a meter deep. Although it wasn't crystal clear, you could see a few small fish swimming by, but they just wouldn't bite the hook.
Li Yunrui lay on her side on the chaise longue, her gaze passing through the gap in the screen as she watched with interest the focused figure by the river.
After watching for a while, she suddenly asked softly, "What's on the other carriage?"
Chunmei was sitting by the couch, gently massaging her legs. Hearing this, she looked up and replied, "Your Highness, some camping supplies, and... some food."
"There seem to be a few freshly prepared fish left. I guess Xiao Wuzi prepared them. If we can't catch any fish later, we can take them out of the carriage."
She sold Wu Feng without hesitation.
Li Yunrui paused for a moment, then covered her mouth and chuckled softly, her eyes curving into crescents.
She enjoyed seeing Wu Feng go to such lengths to please her.
About 15 minutes later, Chunmei looked up at the riverbank and found that Wu Feng still hadn't caught a single fish.
Just as she was about to get up and tease it a bit, she saw Wu Meng lift his rod, and a small fish the size of a palm drew a bright silver arc in the air and landed on the grass with a "plop".
Wu Feng himself breathed a sigh of relief; today they almost lost the vacuum of the army.
He carefully removed the fish and placed it in the wooden bucket, then looked back at the campsite with a hint of smugness on his face.
Li Yunrui, while lying down, also became interested.
She slowly sat up and straightened her dress: "Let me try it too."
As he spoke, he walked towards the riverbank.
Chunmei quickly followed and gently supported her arm.
Upon seeing her approach, Wu Feng immediately stood up: "Your Highness, would you like me to teach you?"
"No need," Li Yunrui waved her hand gently, her pale yellow skirt swaying slightly in the spring breeze. "It's not like I've never fished before. Just give me the bait."
Without saying a word, Wu Feng handed over the fishing rod with both hands and baited the hook.
Li Yunrui took the fishing rod and sat down gracefully on the small chair where Wu Feng had just been sitting.
She mimicked Wu Feng's movements, flicking the fishing line lightly. The line flew through the air, and the bait fell into the river, creating ripples.
Wu Feng stood to the side, feeling a little apprehensive.
The fish in this river don't seem very active. If Li Yunrui can't catch any, won't he feel disappointed?
The water is too shallow; he couldn't possibly sneak down and hook the fish for her.
Just as he was lost in thought, the fish bladder on the surface of the water suddenly moved.
Once, twice.
Li Yunrui sat up straight instantly, her eyes fixed on the fish bladder.
Wu Feng was also surprised, even somewhat incredulous, why did Li Yunrui get a bite as soon as he arrived?
Chunmei also came over, and the three of them held their breath and watched the water.
The fish bladder suddenly sank!
Li Yunrui immediately lifted the fishing rod, feeling a considerable force in his hand.
Caught off guard, she almost dropped the fishing rod.
"Your Highness, let me help you!" Wu Feng reacted quickly and immediately moved closer to Li Yunrui.
He covered Li Yunrui's hand holding the fishing rod with his left hand, while his right hand firmly gripped the middle of the fishing rod.
The two were instantly very close. Li Yunrui could even feel the warmth emanating from Wu Feng and the clean scent emanating from the young man.
Her hands were completely covered.
Li Yunrui trembled slightly, a faint blush rose to her cheeks, but her eyes shone even brighter.
[Ding~ Mood points +50!]
"Quick! Xiao Wuzi, pull the fish up!" Her voice was filled with rare excitement.
"Yes, Your Highness!" Wu Feng replied.
Chunmei quickly grabbed the net and squatted by the river, ready to go at any moment.
"Your Highness, this fish is a bit big. We can't pull it in too quickly; we have to do it slowly," Wu Feng said, feeling the struggling force coming from the fishing line.
It's all about emotional value!
"I understand," Li Yunrui replied softly, letting Wu Feng hold her hand as they both felt the pull from the fishing rod.
[Ding~ Mood points +50!]
So the two of them worked together to gently pull the fish in the direction it was struggling. Li Yunrui learned quickly and gradually mastered the rhythm, his face showing a focused and excited expression.
After drifting like this for about 15 minutes, the force underwater finally weakened.
Wu Feng seized the opportunity and suddenly pulled, and a large, silvery fish broke out of the water, shimmering in the sunlight.
Chunmei immediately used a landing net to catch the fish and carefully scooped it ashore.
Good heavens, this fish is a full one and a half times the size of a palm, thrashing about in the net, its tail spraying out strings of water droplets.
Wu Feng released his grip, took a half step back, and looked at the fish in the net with a frustrated expression: "Your Highness, I think the fish in this river are definitely lecherous fish."
Li Yunrui, still basking in the afterglow of excitement, was wiping the water droplets from her hands with a handkerchief when she looked up at the question: "Oh? What do you mean?"
"I fished for so long and only caught a small one," Wu Feng said, pointing to the pitiful little fish in the wooden bucket, then to the big fish in Chunmei's net. "And you caught such a big one as soon as you arrived. What else could it be but a lecherous fish?"
Li Yunrui was taken aback at first, then burst out laughing. Her clear and melodious laughter echoed in the spring breeze, and her eyes and brows were filled with a bright smile.
Chunmei couldn't help but smile.
"You're so sweet-talking." Li Yunrui smiled and glanced at Wu Feng, then casually stuffed the handkerchief she had used to wipe her hands into his arms. "Alright, I'm tired. I'll leave the grilled fish to you."
"I guarantee Your Highness will be satisfied!" Wu Feng took the handkerchief, picked up the wooden bucket and the big fish, and walked briskly towards the camp.
Chunmei helped Li Yunrui walk back, and chuckled softly, "This guy knows how to make people happy."
Li Yunrui looked at Wu Feng's retreating figure ahead, a smile playing on her lips, and said softly, "...That's why I kept him around."
Sunlight spilled onto the river, creating shimmering, golden sparkles.
In the distance, the green mountains are like dark eyebrows, and nearby, the fragrance of flowers is faint.
This spring seems brighter than in previous years.
