Mysterious Resurrection: Becoming a God Starting from a Ghost Post Office

Chapter 6 The Horror Begins

Chapter 6 The Horror Begins

The three followed Sun Rui's gaze and saw one of the old men slowly move, his steps stiff as he walked out of the mourning hall.

Sun Rui narrowed his eyes slightly: "Has someone triggered the vengeful ghost's killing pattern?"

In his memory, the vengeful ghost's killing pattern was related to its distance from the mourning hall; the farther one ran, the easier it was to trigger the ghost's killing pattern.

At this moment, Liu Anhua, who had been frightened, had just recovered from her panic.

"Liu Anguo, you wait. This isn't over yet. Those guys were your henchmen, weren't they? They even dared to carry guns. You'll be going to jail!" Liu Anhua spat at Liu Anguo. He didn't believe these people would actually dare to kill someone.

"You lot dare to overturn my parents' coffins? You just wait!"

She turned around and picked up her phone to call the police, but found that the phone had no signal.

"What a terrible place! There's not even a signal!" Liu Anhua said, unaware that danger was approaching her.

"You...you're behind...a ghost!" Someone nearby cried out in fright, hurriedly scrambling to their feet and running away in a panic.

"What? Don't be fooled. There are no ghosts in this world," Liu Anhua said.

Suddenly, she felt a chill rise up her back, as if she had fallen into an ice cave, feeling cold from head to toe.

"Could there really be a ghost?" Liu Anhua swallowed hard, slowly turning around to see what was behind her.

Just then, she felt her hands touch something, cold and stiff, just like the withered hands she had used yesterday when she was preparing her mother's body.

After turning about halfway around, she finally saw clearly what was behind her—her mother, who had been dead for two days.

Liu Anhua wanted to scream, but for some reason her throat felt like it was stuffed full and she couldn't make a sound. She tried to run away but found her legs felt like they were made of lead.

At this moment, she felt the light around her gradually dimming, and her body involuntarily turned towards her mother's corpse. Her eyes met those empty, lifeless eyes, devoid of any spirit, and her last glimmer of hope was shattered.

Liu Anhua died, her death was gruesome, with blood flowing from her eyes, mouth and even ears.

Liu Qi tightly covered his parents' mouths, not making a sound. The ghost had already appeared, and if they triggered the ghost's killing pattern, they would lose all hope of survival.

Sun Rui watched as Liu Anhua's hand was held by the vengeful ghost, and then his eyes lost their luster.

"Does the vengeful ghost kill by holding hands?" he muttered to himself. The vengeful ghost's killing pattern and killing method are separate. If the vengeful ghost's killing pattern is accidentally triggered, one can try to avoid the killing method.

"What do we do now? The ghosts have started killing people," the female messenger said.

The crowd scattered in panic, and at that moment the vengeful ghost sprang into action again, chasing after the ghost in a more distant direction.

"Hurry up and finish setting up the rest of the mourning hall. I've helped others with that before, so I can finish it quickly," one of the messengers said.

Sun Rui glanced at the relatively calm messenger. His name was Zheng Fangxu, the owner of a funeral supplies store. He was thirty years old and had a rather honest and simple appearance.

The other woman was Zhao Tong, a 25-year-old online streamer. She was beautiful and comparable to some second- or third-tier female celebrities, but Sun Rui was not interested in her.

As for Li Jian, whom Sun Rui disliked, he ran away while Sun Rui was observing the vengeful ghost's killing methods. Sun Rui didn't stop him; it was good to have one more person to test the vengeful ghost's killing patterns.

"You two set up the mourning hall here. If any vengeful ghosts target you, put on these gloves." Sun Rui took a pair of golden gloves from the body bag and threw them in front of Zheng Fangxu.

According to his observation, the method of killing was holding hands. As long as he wore the golden gloves, he could at least save his life, since the power of the vengeful ghost could not affect the gold.

"Okay... what are you going to do?" Zheng Fangxu was a little panicked. Although he didn't know what the gloves were for, the person in front of him had been unusually calm from the beginning, and there must be a reason behind what he said.

"I have my own things to take care of, you just need to do your own things," Sun Rui said.

He glanced at the corner of the mourning hall; another vengeful ghost was still standing there, making no move.

"There must be some patterns in this that I haven't discovered yet."

Sun Rui wasn't going to sit idly by and wait to die; he decided to take immediate action.

"Lin Zhensheng, come with me."

Everyone here had already run away in the chaos, leaving only the messenger and Liu Qi's family of three in the mourning hall.

"Okay!" Lin Zhensheng nodded solemnly. The difficulty of delivering the message this time had exceeded his expectations.

The two walked out of the mourning hall and followed the direction in which the vengeful ghost had left.

"Mom and Dad, please help set up the funeral hall and don't wander off."

Seeing Sun Rui leave, Liu Qi, ignoring his parents' objections, gritted his teeth and followed her.

The darkness in the village was eerie; the light from the cell phone couldn't dispel it. The light would only spread out for about three or four meters before being enveloped by darkness again.

Not long after, Sun Rui, relying on his instinctive connection with the ghost, finally spotted it not far away, but then another unlucky ordinary person was targeted by it.

"Help me...help me..." The man saw the two and began to frantically call for help. Fear made his legs go weak and he collapsed to the ground.

Sun Rui simply watched coldly from the sidelines, showing no intention of helping. He remembered this person as one of the people who had stopped Liu Qi's family earlier.

"Are you going to make a move?" Lin Zhensheng asked.

"Just watch. Every vengeful ghost has its own unique killing patterns. Understanding these patterns is the only hope for ordinary people to survive," Sun Rui said coldly. He couldn't possibly use the power of a vengeful ghost to save someone who had nothing to do with him.

Lin Zhensheng nodded, understanding Sun Rui's meaning.

At that moment, the man's cries for help stopped abruptly. He stood up blankly, and the vengeful ghost took his hand. He died, just like Liu Anhua.

"First he ran away... then he cried for help, fell down, and then got up again..." Sun Rui analyzed some of the characteristics of this person in his mind, trying to extract the killing pattern of the vengeful ghost.

Just then, the vengeful ghost moved again, chasing after it in another direction.

Sun Rui didn't follow immediately. Instead, he stepped forward and used his satellite phone to take a picture of the man's face. He couldn't miss any detail, including the man's identity information.

After he finished doing all this, he immediately sensed something: "The direction the vengeful ghost went is closer to the mourning hall..."

Was it really the distance? But why was Liu Anhua targeted? She was right outside the mourning hall at the time. There's too little information for Sun Rui to be sure.

"It sounds like someone's coming from the darkness." Lin Zhensheng raised his gun and aimed it at the direction of the footsteps.

"Don't shoot, it's me." Liu Qi's figure appeared with his hands raised.

Sun Rui pressed down on the gun in Lin Zhensheng's hand; he did not detect any supernatural aura on Liu Qi.

"What are you doing here?" Sun Rui asked, somewhat puzzled.

"I know a lot about my grandparents, and I can help you analyze the killing patterns of vengeful ghosts," Liu Qi said calmly. After what happened last time, his fear of ghosts was no longer as great.

Sun Rui nodded. No wonder he's a potential captain candidate; his adaptability is impressive.

"You can keep up," Sun Rui said.

The three chased after the vengeful ghost, but the terror continued and wouldn't stop just because a few people died.
