Chapter 32 Sun Rui's Method
Chapter 32 Sun Rui's Method
Sun Rui hung up the phone, feeling that headquarters had no intention of letting him survive the operation.
As for what to do next, Sun Rui decided to try to solve it himself. If he could save that coffin nail, he would have a powerful weapon for dealing with supernatural events.
"The resurgence of the sick ghost within me is currently suppressed by the other two vengeful ghosts. I can use them almost without any cost if I want to, and one of them is a vengeful ghost that is close to resurrection," Sun Rui analyzed from his spot.
This was actually quite unexpected for him; he hadn't anticipated that the illness within his body hadn't died.
After assessing his own condition, Sun Rui looked into the distance. Unbeknownst to him, the supernatural phenomena of the ghost haze had already begun to unfold, with scorched earth extending into Dachang City. This was a simulation of some of the supernatural phenomena of the burned ghost using the ghost haze.
Sun Rui's figure disappeared, reappeared a few hundred meters away, paused briefly, and then disappeared again.
And so it went, one kilometer, two kilometers... until Sun Rui's figure stopped moving, and from time to time, a flame would ignite on the narrow, black dirt road.
"Is this what it feels like to travel using the Ghost Domain? It's so luxurious." Sun Rui could no longer see his surroundings clearly and could only sense them through the Ghost Haze.
Outside Dachang City, inside the temporary command post.
"Has Sun Rui's position changed?" Zhao Jianguo asked.
"It's moving, and it's moving incredibly fast. Its speed is constantly increasing, it's already... it's already breaking the speed of sound! What the hell is this thing?!" The operator's voice trembled as Sun Rui's location on the screen rapidly moved towards Dachang City, forming a perfectly straight line.
"How is this possible? Does Sun Rui also have a ghost realm? Using the power of vengeful ghosts like this, isn't he afraid that the vengeful ghosts will resurrect?" Zhao Jianguo asked in surprise.
He then calmed down, realizing that Sun Rui had done something in Luoshan Village that headquarters was unaware of.
He immediately informed Wang Xiaoming of this situation, which greatly helped the subsequent detention operation.
……
At the top of Shangtong Building, a red flame appeared, and then Sun Rui walked out of the flame.
"Using the power of the vengeful spirit in this way, the vengeful spirit inside the body is quiet as if it doesn't exist," Sun Rui said, looking down at the entire Dachang City below. Dachang City is now a ghost town, with only a small number of surviving humans remaining.
He could feel the black soil stretching along the way slowly disappearing, unlike the charred soil of Luoshan Village, which could persist for a long time.
Now, Sun Rui can appear in Luoshan Village instantly if he wants to.
"It seems that the charred soil is a special kind of mark of the ghost realm," Sun Rui said calmly.
He turned his gaze back to his phone screen, which displayed a map of the entire Dachang City and the location of the safe house where Wang Xiaoming and his group were.
He still has important things to do.
"Remove the coffin nails first." As soon as Sun Rui finished speaking, black soil began to extend from the surface of Shangtong Building downwards. He walked directly on the vertical surface of the building without any hindrance.
The coffin nails are monstrous; any vengeful ghost that is nailed to them will be completely suppressed.
Yang Jian wanted to use a coffin nail to imprison the starving ghost, but Sun Rui didn't want to waste the coffin nail.
Soon Sun Rui arrived outside the No. 7 Middle School in Dachang City. The area was shrouded in a dark blue haze, so thick that even ghostly haze could not penetrate it.
He didn't intend to go directly to the starving ghost, but rather to find the nearby Hongfa Temple, where the coffin nails were located in the temple's basement.
He quickly sensed the location of Hongfa Temple through the extending ghostly haze.
Sun Rui's figure vanished and reappeared in the basement of Hongfa Temple. He had created an illusion using ghostly haze, making him invisible to ordinary people.
Sun Rui glanced around and found no one in the basement. Perfect, he didn't want too many people to know that he had taken the coffin nails.
At the far end of the basement stood an old wooden door covered in gold leaf, which was locked. The ghostly atmosphere and the supernatural presence of the burning ghosts could not affect this door.
He stepped forward, tore off the gold leaf from the door, and with a gentle push, the lock broke automatically.
A cold wind blew by, making one's hair stand on end, and the surrounding temperature seemed to drop considerably.
Sun Rui lit a flame in his hand to illuminate the surroundings, and walked straight inside.
This is a desolate, dark space.
Tick-tock~
The sound of dripping water came from the dark space, which was particularly clear in the dark environment. An ordinary person would definitely be scared to death if they walked in here.
The firelight in his hand illuminated the surroundings. In front of him was a tree with bare bones, from which hung withered human heads and old rags... But more importantly, there were coffin nails on the tree, nailing a tall, dark figure that was hanging upside down.
Something seems to be missing from the head of the shadowy figure; this should be where the ghost eye should have been.
Without hesitation, Sun Rui stepped forward, wrapped the coffin nails with gold foil, and then pulled them off easily without encountering any resistance.
The shadows on the tree remained unchanged, still sitting there quietly.
Having retrieved the coffin nails, Sun Rui turned and left. He didn't want to stay there too long, unsure if something bad might happen.
After stepping out the door, he turned around and saw that the dark space was no longer there. All that remained was a brick wall covered with moss, damp and cold.
Sun Rui didn't find this phenomenon strange; normally, Yang Jian would have made the same change after removing the coffin nails.
After closing the gate, Sun Rui left Hongfa Temple.
The rooftop of a residential building outside No. 7 Middle School.
Sun Rui stood there quietly. His ghost domain could not extend in, nor could he drive the coffin nails directly into the body of the starving ghost like Yang Jian's ghost domain.
"Let's see if the Ghost Haze can mimic the complete Ghost Realm of the Burning Ghost." Sun Rui closed his eyes, and the mist around him grew thicker and thicker, as if a great terror was brewing.
Time passed second by second, the fog churned, but nothing changed.
"It can't be simulated. Is the Burning Ghost too powerful?" Sun Rui muttered.
He thought about it and then tried a different approach.
The mist of the ghostly haze spread out, and within it, figures appeared one after another. Upon closer inspection, they all resembled Sun Rui.
"It really works!" All ten Sun Ruis said at the same time.
"Each body possesses one-tenth of my supernatural power. What if I merge these bodies?"
As soon as he finished speaking, all the bodies dissipated and then coalesced into a single Sun Rui.
The two Sun Ruis exchanged a glance: "A complete paranormal replica."
Then, flames erupted from the two Sun Ruis, overlapping and enveloping the entire No. 7 Middle School. The dark blue-green gloom was suppressed and contracted inward.
"That's enough." Sun Rui didn't continue trying. He could sense that this wasn't his limit. He might be able to replicate another supernatural event, but doing so would likely provoke the resurrection of the vengeful ghost that had crashed.
"The Ghost Haze is very powerful, but unfortunately, it can only affect the area it's inhabited by." Sun Rui sighed.
The enhanced flames of the burning ghosts can illuminate areas shrouded in a bluish-black haze, but unfortunately, they cannot directly locate the hungry ghosts.
"Are we really going to hand over the coffin nails...?" Sun Rui sighed. Even with the enhanced Burning Ghost Domain, it couldn't completely restrict the movements of the Starving Ghost, and even its restriction on the dark blue-green haze was limited.
Alternatively, one could disregard the consequences and use ghostly haze to enhance supernatural abilities to restrict the movements of the starving ghost, then imprison it, but at the cost of reviving one's own vengeful ghost, which was in a state of malfunction.
"The chance of the vengeful ghost crashing is too rare. Let's wait and see. Even if we really have to hand it over, it doesn't matter," Sun Rui said.
To deviate from the original imprisonment plan, two conditions must be met again: contact with Sun Rui is possible, though risky, it's worth a try; then comes imprisonment, as Sun Rui has no better way to imprison the starving ghost than with coffin nails.
"Wait...did I forget something?" Sun Rui suddenly realized something.
The blood-soaked corpse in Luoshan Village has the power to suppress vengeful spirits!
