Chapter 53 Chaotic America
Chapter 53 Chaotic America
Sun Rui watched Liu Qi leave. He had quite a few secrets about him; he was even able to control a fully resurrected vengeful ghost.
"Never mind, it's time to get to my destination." Sun Rui said as he stepped outside the plane.
There was only their plane in the airport, and Sun Rui didn't see anyone else. Logically speaking, the airport shouldn't be this deserted at this time.
He walked out of the airport.
After leaving the runway, we arrived outside the waiting area.
Looking around, all I could see was pitch black, not the kind of darkness without any lights, but rather as if I were shrouded in darkness.
There were still traces of blood on the ground, the seats in the waiting room were overturned, and the door was blocked by a vending machine, as if something had tried to get in from the outside and people were trying to stop it.
But as you can imagine, it was all in vain. How could an ordinary glass door possibly keep out a vengeful ghost?
"It seems the airport is under lockdown," Sun Rui said, releasing the ghostly haze.
This time, the haze was not hindered and successfully covered the entire airport.
"This area is so big, but apart from the passengers who just escaped from the plane, there's not a single person here," Sun Rui said as he walked.
He could clearly sense that the people in the airport were wandering aimlessly, occasionally screaming, because the airport was full of corpses.
The manner of their deaths was all the same: their eyeballs were gouged out, and blood flowed down the empty eye sockets onto the ground.
"The vengeful ghost that caused the paranormal event shouldn't be that scary, so why did it seal off this place?" Sun Rui was a little puzzled, as the fact that his ghostly aura wasn't hindered at all was proof of this.
If this happened in China, such a paranormal event would most likely have been resolved.
He quickly sensed the presence of the vengeful ghost in the airport control room.
"This should be the corpse of a ghost tamer."
The vengeful ghost's face was covered in lividity, its eyes were empty, with black corpse fluid flowing from their sockets, and there was a bloody hole on its forehead with a specially made bullet embedded in it. A golden pistol was also hanging at its waist. Sun Rui carefully observed its appearance.
Several women were lying haphazardly in the command room.
These women were all dead beyond dead, and most of them were barely clothed.
Sun Rui could roughly figure out what was going on.
A foreign ghost tamer was shot and killed while doing *that*, and then the vengeful ghost resurrected, mainly because the person who killed him didn't dispose of his body.
"Is it really that chaotic? Shoot the ghost tamer, then let the vengeful spirit rise again, and then seal off this airport." Sun Rui shook his head. The situation here was even more complicated than back home.
Of course, there must be some hidden secrets involved. After all, the corpse of a Ghost Master is quite expensive overseas, and a Ghost Master who has just been killed is relatively easy to imprison.
"Interesting. It can still attack me even when observing through the ghostly haze." Sun Rui realized that he could no longer see clearly with both eyes.
He instinctively wiped his face and realized that blood was flowing out.
"The haze can't be directly restored yet..." Sun Rui paused for a moment, the situation was still worsening.
The next second, he forcefully gouged out his own eyeballs.
This prevented the paranormal attack.
"That fucking hurts!" Sun Rui cursed, then used Ghost Haze to restore his eyes.
Cold sweat seeped down his back. The pain of having his eyes gouged out was something most people couldn't bear. If he hadn't had his previous experience of being haunted by a vengeful ghost, he might not have been able to endure it.
"Ignore it and leave." Sun Rui didn't bother to observe the vengeful ghost anymore.
This time, I didn't bring a confinement container; otherwise, with the coffin nails, it would have been quite a good opportunity to capture a vengeful ghost.
Sun Rui used the Ghost Domain to leave the airport directly.
No one noticed him as he suddenly appeared on the street corner.
Sun Rui walked openly and honestly on the side of the street.
A nauseating smell filled the air. He didn't know what it was, but it wasn't a supernatural smell.
The homeless people lying on the street looked like they were dead, emitting a foul stench, but Sun Rui could still see that their chests were still rising and falling.
"I'm currently on Pigeon Square Street, about ten kilometers away from Silver Lake Avenue," Sun Rui said, looking at the location information on his phone.
He walked for a while longer, then decided to take a taxi.
Just a short while ago, his ghostly aura sensed at least two paranormal events, both of which were blocked.
One of the buildings, where the original glass facade was completely covered by a layer of cement, had a layer abruptly sealed off. The ghostly haze could penetrate through the wall, but not further inside.
Another place was inside the sewers, where countless corpses lay scattered about, but the presence of any vengeful ghosts could not be sensed.
"There are so many paranormal events here, it's terrifying," Sun Rui said.
This is because the ways of handling paranormal events differ between China and other countries. In most foreign countries, an employment system is adopted, which is simply an exchange of benefits. Without benefits, few ghost handlers will take the initiative to resolve paranormal events.
In China, with the headquarters overseeing the situation, paranormal events in many cities can be controlled, but the cost is the death of a large number of ghost-controlling individuals. If the impact of a paranormal event is widespread, it becomes a disaster.
There's no right or wrong way to manage paranormal events; the approaches differ depending on the perspective.
For ordinary people, the domestic approach is certainly better, at least there is still a glimmer of hope.
But what about abroad? Ordinary people can only wait to die, unless they encounter a kind-hearted ghost tamer.
However, those who control ghosts are kind-hearted and often do not live long.
In China, ghost tamers can become civilian ghost tamers without being dispatched by headquarters, but they usually die after encountering a resurrected vengeful ghost. Some ghost tamers choose to join headquarters, but they also face the risk of death when dealing with paranormal events.
Abroad, there are almost no choices. As for the so-called official organizations, they are just empty shells. You can only become a scattered ghost tamer or join the forces established by some powerful ghost tamers. The outcome is still the same: waiting to die.
For a ghost tamer, joining any particular organization is not so important; what matters most is their attitude toward paranormal events.
Sun Rui would prefer to live in a way that allows him to deal with paranormal events and even occasionally play the role of a savior, but he cannot be forced to do so.
Soon a taxi stopped by the roadside.
With his rudimentary English skills, Sun Rui managed to communicate with the driver and board the bus smoothly.
The driver remained silent throughout the journey, and was clearly very nervous when passing some buildings.
Moreover, Sun Rui noticed that he was taking a detour, seemingly avoiding some dangerous place.
"It seems I need to find a translator as soon as possible," Sun Rui thought. He knew his English wasn't enough to understand the situation.
The taxi stopped at No. 1 Yinhu Avenue, refusing to go any further.
Sun Rui had no choice but to pay and get off the bus.
He carried his suitcase and walked inside. The streets here were very clean, even abnormally so. You can see homeless people outside the airport, but you can't see any here.
The shops along the street were half-closed, making the place look very deserted.
Sun Rui headed straight for the gray-brick apartment building at the end of the street, hoping to find his target, observe the area, and inquire about what was happening there.
