Chapter 132 A Little Bit Really A Little Bit
Dragon Egg Snatching Competition
Emeric was huddled in a corner of the stands, holding a bowl of fragrant popcorn, and covered with a windproof blanket—his outfit for watching the game today.
The atmosphere in the audience was incredibly lively, with everyone cheering on their favorite contestants. As the last contestant, Harry was a little nervous. He gently clutched the hem of his shirt, his eyes fixed intently on the competition venue, despite having prepared extensively.
"Next up is Harry Potter. We hope he will give us a wonderful performance."
Upon hearing Harry's name called to participate in the competition over the loudspeaker, everyone present who cared about him immediately focused their attention on the entrance, waiting to cheer as soon as Harry appeared. They couldn't possibly be outdone by the other contestants, could they?
"Alas!!!"
"Go Harry!!!"
It was obvious that it was Ron. He even dragged Hermione into shouting, and he mobilized Ginny as well, all to support his good brother.
Emeric was curious about what solution the children had come up with. He wasn't worried that Harry would be seriously injured; with Dumbledore and Lily watching over him, his life wouldn't be in danger, at most he'd suffer a little.
As soon as they entered the arena, Harry mounted the Firebolt and flew around the entire area. This was the only idea they could come up with; only by distracting the dragon could he have a chance to steal the dragon egg.
I don't know if Harry got confused, but Emerick certainly did. As someone who dislikes riding brooms, the more he looked, the more his head ached, so he simply leaned to one side to prop his head up. He sat on the very edge, not caring whether he looked good or not, since Severus couldn't see him from the middle anyway.
As Harry wound his way through the maze and sped up, the Hungarian wasp, which had been guarding the dragon egg, finally flew out of its nest, trying to catch up with the dragon's broom.
With a rapid dive and the protection of his heavy armor, Harry successfully retrieved the dragon egg before the dragon's breath could reach him, instantly becoming the fastest competitor.
"Harry, you did it! You're the best!!!"
Ron pounced on Harry, he was so excited that he slapped Harry's back so hard that he almost caused internal injuries.
"Don't get excited, it's time for the scoring." Hermione pulled the two boys apart and made them look at the center of the audience.
Ms. Maxim raised her wand into the air, and a cloud of silver smoke billowed out, forming a large "9" in mid-air.
"That's fantastic, Harry! First place is a high score!"
"Shut up, keep watching." Hermione reached out and tugged at Ron's ear, using force to subdue the excited boy.
Next up was Barty Crouch, who shot a "9" into the air.
Then there's Dumbledore, who would undoubtedly give his school a score of "9".
Next up was Ludo Bagman, who also hit a "9".
In the end, only Karkaroff was left. All eyes were on him, and he sparingly typed "4" into the air.
But it didn't matter; even so, Harry's score was the same as Krum's. They were tied for first place, and Ron was furious and wanted to confront him.
"It's okay, really it's okay. We don't need to get angry over someone like that. Besides, we're tied for first place now, so we're still in first place." He and Hermione pulled Ron together and dragged him off the field.
Emeric packed up the small blanket and popcorn bowl and followed the three of them away. Otherwise, it wouldn't be fun if they ran into Karkaroff later. Karkaroff had just given the former principal a little trouble, and now they were just one step away from finishing.
Durmstrang
"Rayander, I haven't been able to reach you for the past few days?"
"Young Master Emeric has asked me to do something."
"You're making a fortune and you're not taking me with you? Are we even brothers anymore? I've been taking notes for you every day, sigh..."
Reinhard Miles rolled his eyes at the person next to him, regretting once again that he hadn't shared a dorm room with Emerick and instead lived with this shameless guy.
"This isn't a way to make money. You're not short of money, so stop focusing on these things all the time."
"Who would complain about having too much money?" Lorken Frant put his arm around Rayand's shoulder and continued, "Seriously, if we weren't making money, when would our young master have gone off to do anything else?"
"Believe it or not." After turning away, Leander walked towards his dormitory. He hadn't slept much for three days and didn't have the energy to mess around with him.
This time, the task assigned by Emeric was a bit tricky, but fortunately someone was keeping an eye on Karkaroff's movements, otherwise he didn't know when he would have gotten around to it. The main problem was that cleaning up the tail took up a lot of time, but everything else was fine.
He didn't actually make any money off of it. He was just using Karkaroff's name to create some minor friction with several officials in the Ministry of Magic, and incidentally, he found out the accounts from which Karkaroff had received bribes, and then used some tricks to expose the matter to the officials.
Therefore, when he was called in for questioning, Reand wasn't flustered at all, disguising himself as a normal student. Even if he hadn't completely cleaned up the mess, no one dared to touch him out of respect for Thaddeus and Aldrickson.
The reason he was called over was simply because Emeric was too fond of interfering with other people's illicit financial gains. When he first reported people for accepting bribes, they weren't good at cleaning up the mess and were caught several times. So now, whenever someone reports someone, he's called over.
"Sir, my young master isn't even in the country. How could we have done this? He's only come back twice in the past few years. It really has nothing to do with us."
"Routine inspection. We know your young master isn't in Durmstrang. It's all because you caused such a big scene back then. You'll know what to say when you get back."
"Of course." Leander covered his mouth, indicating that he wouldn't say anything out of line.
A short while later, someone came to tell him he could leave. It seemed they had done a perfect job this time, without leaving any loose ends. He would write to Emerick when he got back, thinking he would likely receive a substantial reward this time.
Dinner time
"Coo coo coo".
"Thank you, Ilim. Let me see... Ah, it's a letter from Reand." Emeric shook the letter and handed it to Severus.
"The plan went perfectly? What mischief did you get up to?"
"No way, Karkarov should be leaving in two days if nothing unexpected happens. I wonder if he'll be able to arrive on time for his next match."
"If you keep me in suspense any longer, you can eat me and I'm leaving." Severus's curiosity was piqued, and he threatened him directly.
"I'll talk, I'll talk. I didn't do anything. I just offended a small group of German officials using his identity, just a little bit." Emeric gestured with his fingers. "Then I exposed the accounts where he received bribes, using the identity of a family member of a student who was forced to leave Germany."
"Well done." Severus rarely praised Emeric, because he was really fed up with Karkaroff and it was great to be able to get back sooner.
"Thank you for the compliment."
