Chapter 2083, Section 2.81: Clearing the Level with One Coin
The story of *Cadillacs and Dinosaurs* is adapted from the 1986 American comic book series *Xenozoic Tales*. It tells the story of how, due to global warming and rising sea levels, humanity is forced to seek refuge in deep underground vaults for survival. Until the 26th century, the surface becomes habitable again, and humanity returns to the surface, discovering that dinosaurs have reappeared due to global warming and ecological improvement. In this post-apocalyptic world, humanity has differing opinions about dinosaurs; some believe in peaceful coexistence, while others hunt or capture them for profit. The protagonist, Jack Tenrac, lives in New York and is a staunch advocate of human-dinosaur coexistence. His hobby is collecting and restoring classic 20th-century American Cadillacs. Due to the depletion of oil reserves or the loss of refining technology, he must use "dinosaur extract" as an alternative energy source for his cars. Furthermore, Jack frequently clashes with "dinosaur hunters" in his efforts to protect the dinosaurs.
In 2513, dinosaur poaching suddenly surged. Jack and his friends Hannah Dundee, Mustapha Cairo, and Mess O'Bradovich decided to investigate, uncovering a conspiracy far larger than mere speculation. It turned out that the mad scientist Professor Fessenden wanted to use genetic engineering to study dinosaurs and gain the power to conquer the world, acquiring dinosaur experimental samples through the black market. He not only created and controlled dinosaurs but also researched how to combine humans and dinosaurs to create super-powerful mutant monsters. After learning of the doctor's plan, the four protagonists fought their way through in a Cadillac, defeating the doctor's numerous henchmen, killing the mutated evil doctor, and triggering the self-destruction of the doctor's laboratory, a former underground vault located dozens of levels below New York City, thus achieving their final redemption.
This classic arcade game allows players to enter their player ID to view rankings after completing a level with a single coin. Although the rankings disappear the next day after the arcades are turned on due to power outages at night, many players still enjoy playing it daily, spending countless hours in the arcade trying to complete the game with just one coin. The character generally considered the easiest to beat is Mustafa Cairo, the "Yellow Hat," who delivers a flying kick that covers half the screen. The protagonist, Jack Trick, the "White Guy," is actually more difficult to beat because his slide is too short…
"My lord?" Captain Nine-Tails clearly hadn't noticed the connection between the two. This was also an inherent limitation of the characters in the show; their understanding of the real world was nowhere near as profound as that of the players.
"I mean, this is the original intention behind the fat otaku's creation of the second level of the Fulong Temple Pagoda's isotope battle royale." Wu Chen laughed, "The inspiration must have come from the arcade game 'Cadillacs and Dinosaurs' that was popular in the 90s."
"So, referencing the storyline of 'Cadillacs and Dinosaurs,' we created the Jurassic World we see before us." Captain Nine-Tailed understood.
“That’s it.” Wu Chen nodded slightly: “Inquire about information related to this Dr. Wu.”
"Yes, my lord." Before the female leader of the winged people could say goodbye, the Nine-Tailed Captain asked for more details about Dr. Wu.
"Ah, he's hiding in some secret underground laboratory on the island." It seems even the winged female leader wasn't entirely sure: "That's the warm birthing room for all 'winged people.' Fragmented images flash through our memories from time to time. But if you ask me where exactly he is, I can only say 'it's an unsolved mystery.'"
"Understood, madam." Since that's the case, Captain Nine-Tails had no further questions.
"Until we meet again, everyone." The female leader of the winged people spread her fleshy wings and took flight.
Watching the winged female leader, protected by her female guards, reunite with the main force hovering in the sky, and then roar away, producer Denise Carlberg subconsciously lit a cigarette: "Did I just talk to a dinosaur?"
“Queen Pteranodon,” Captain Nine-Tailed corrected.
"The world before my eyes is no longer the same as it used to be." Director Terri Flavie has a stronger inner strength than others.
“要不看看地图先?”九尾队长扬了扬手中的太阳能笔记本电脑。民用级的全球首款太阳能笔记本,是三星于2011年7月3日在美国上市的NC215S,售价399美元起。工业级显然要早于三星的NC215S。
“Okay, Captain.” Director Terri Fleury nodded readily.
Captain Nine-Tails carefully opened the laptop. The standby screen immediately lit up. It turned out the so-called "map" was actually the laptop's standby screen. Unlocking the system required a unique employee password from the international genetic technology company "InGen".
"Captain, do you have a solution?" Denise Carlberg, the female producer who had smoked half a cigarette to calm her nerves, silently regained her composure. After all, she'd already seen vampires; what was a talking dinosaur compared to that?
“I can give it a try.” After all, it was Captain Nine-Tailed and her female warrior who cracked the small safe house made up of five military-grade encrypted containers belonging to the Illuminati.
“Then we’ll wait for your good news.” Producer Denise Carlberg turned to director Terri Flevie: “Boss, we need to deploy an air defense network.”
"You mean anti-aircraft missiles?" Director Terri Fleury didn't recall having any containers stockpiled to carry anti-aircraft missiles.
“Yes.” Denise Carlberg, the female producer who had been in charge of camp operations, had more accurate information: “Last night we found some Stinger missiles in the nightclub’s storage room.” The FIM-92 air defense missile, nicknamed “Stinger,” is a man-portable air defense system developed by General Dynamics. It is 152.5 cm long, 7 cm in diameter, with a 1 kg warhead and a total weight of 15.65 kg. The missile has a range of 300–5000 meters and an altitude of 10–3000 meters. It uses optical aiming and infrared guidance, with a 75% single-shot hit probability. The basic fire unit is the launch team, consisting of two people, equipped with one launch tube and six missiles, and one IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) device. It is mainly used for urban warfare and in field conditions for individual soldiers and ground equipment to engage low-altitude targets.
Wu Chen was no stranger to this. During the battle to defend V8 Fortress, Knight Rider Captain "Slim Waist" had used a modified Stinger missile to attack the half-human, half-tank "Bullet Farmer Aberration".
"How do you plan to deploy this? Are you suggesting that people take turns carrying it on their shoulders 24 hours a day?" Director Terri Fleury laughed.
“Hmm…” Producer Denise Carlberg subconsciously turned her gaze toward Captain Nine-Tailed Fox.
"How about we put it in the car?" Captain Nine-Tailed offered the most reasonable suggestion.
“I think it’s a good idea.” Producer Denise Carlberg immediately realized, “For example, that broadcast van.”
"Then what are we waiting for?" Director Terri Fleury looked at Captain Nine-Tailed: "Please set this as a priority project."
“Yes, ma’am.” Captain Nine-Tailed immediately followed producer Denise Carlberg to the storage room.
As they passed through the small cubicle where the vampire stripper had led the "blood packs" into, Captain Nine-Tails saw Curved Blade, who had regained consciousness.
"how do you feel?"
"It's alright." Having failed to fight to the end and witnessed the Bloodwing Feather Serpent's defeat, Curved Blade was filled with questions: "How did you do that?"
Captain Nine-Tails tapped his forehead: "You know, we're never fighting alone."
"Understood." What the scimitar really wanted was a reason. Whether it was reasonable or not wasn't important. After all, the result was the most important thing, right?
"We need to modify some missile launchers to defend the camp. Do you want to come?" Captain Nine-Tailed asked with a smile.
"No, you guys go ahead." Curved Blade gestured towards the nightclub lobby outside with his lip: "I'll stay here to protect this place."
“Otherwise, let’s keep the outside as a ‘jungle nightclub’,” Captain Nine-Tailed suggested. “Actually, it would be more suitable to put the command center in the inner room.”
"I'm fine with either," Curved Blade shrugged, meaning he was willing to work as a bodyguard or a bartender.
Of course, this wasn't something he needed to concern himself with. Killing was the very meaning of his existence.
