Chapter 852 Guana
Chapter 852 Guana
"Take it."
Pearl took the fruit that Yang Ming threw to her, wiped it on the corner of her clothes, and then wolfed it down.
"By the way... do you know what day it is today?" Zhu Bei asked vaguely while chewing on fruit.
Yang Ming and Chi Ri exchanged a glance. They had traveled from the future, so how could they know about the calendar used in the Xi Cui era?
“I’m sorry, we’re from out of town and don’t know the local calendar,” Yang Ming replied, half-jokingly. “My name is Yang Ming, and the older man next to me is Chi Ri, he’s my companion.”
"Hey, what do you mean by that? Although people often get my age wrong, I'm actually only 27 years old," Chi Ri said with some dissatisfaction.
"So you're from out of town? No wonder you looked so unfamiliar!" Zhubei exclaimed in realization. "What a pity, I have no idea how many days I've been hypnotized. Sister Guana and the others must be very worried..."
“Actually, you don’t need to be too anxious,” Yang Ming comforted. “This place is still within the range of pure white permafrost, so maybe we are not far from the Pearl Team’s base.”
“That’s right!” Pearl’s eyes lit up. “You two are also my saviors. Would you be interested in visiting our pearl village?”
“Then we shall respectfully accept your offer.” Yang Ming agreed on the spot. Since arriving in the Xicui region, he and Chi Ri had been living the life of wild men, eating and sleeping in the open. If they continued like this, they would probably become disconnected from human society sooner or later.
"By the way, should we take this meat with us?" Chi Ri asked, pointing to the meat he had prepared.
"We're all going to Pearl Village to enjoy the good life, and you're still thinking about this stinky meat?" Yang Ming couldn't help but roll his eyes at him.
"I think it's a bit of a waste to just leave it here. After all, the meat is just a little rotten, it's not inedible." Chi Ri persisted.
"...You can't possibly take all that meat with you, just take some back with you."
As dawn broke in the east, the three set off. Contrary to Yang Ming and the other man's expectations, they arrived at the Pearl Village in just one day.
“I never imagined there would be a secret passage leading to the pearl settlement in the pure white tundra,” Chi Ri exclaimed. “No wonder we’ve been searching for so many days without finding it.”
“Of course, the tundra is never short of powerful and ferocious wild Pokémon. If we don’t establish our base in a secluded place, it will be difficult for us to live a peaceful life here.” Zhubei said with a proud look on her face as she pushed aside the last barrier that was naturally formed by ice pillars.
The settlement was smaller than Yang Ming had imagined. Several tents made of thick leather were arranged in a circle, and a campfire burned in the open space in the middle, with an iron pot on it, bubbling and steaming. Several people dressed in heavy clothing were sitting around the fire, and they all turned around when they heard footsteps.
"Leader!" A tall, young woman suddenly stood up, rushed over in a few strides, squatted down, grabbed Zhu Bei's shoulders, and looked her up and down. "What on earth has happened these past few days? Why haven't you contacted us!"
“I’m sorry…” Zhubei lowered her head, her voice muffled, “I was controlled by a monstrous deer and almost didn’t make it back. These two strangers saved me.”
The woman then turned her gaze to Yang Ming and Chi Ri, her eyes sharp as knives, scraping across the two men several times. She noticed that Chi Ri was holding a string of meat chunks strung together with straw rope, emitting a strange smell. Her eyebrows twitched slightly, but she said nothing.
“I’m Guana from the Pearl Team.” She straightened up, her tone a mixture of scrutiny and gratitude. “Our leader has caused you trouble.”
“No trouble at all,” Yang Ming said before Chi Ri could speak. “We’ve been wandering in the frozen ground for days, and we were just worried about not finding a place to stay.”
Guana nodded, not pressing for the reason for the "wandering," but simply stepped aside to make way for the fire: "Sit down and warm up first, the food will have to wait a while."
The campfire blazed brightly. Yang Ming sat on the leather cushion, his fingers slowly regaining feeling. He glanced around; at the edge of the tent were piles of half-polished stone axes, dried fish, and several pieces of black crystal of unknown purpose. The Pearl Team's supplies were scarcer than he had imagined, but they were well-organized, everyone performing their duties, and no one stopped working because of the arrival of outsiders.
“I heard from Zhubei that you two are outsiders from other regions?” Guana sprinkled some dry grass into the pot, the soup in the pot boiled, and the aroma was lifted by the heat and mixed with the smoke from the firewood.
“Yes.” Yang Ming looked away. “We came from very far away… Alora.”
He directly mentioned his old hideout in the modern world, since the other party was unlikely to know the name of the place anyway.
However, Guana's expression turned serious. She was originally a slender beauty, but now her brows were slightly furrowed, making her look even more stern.
“To be honest, I’ve never heard of Arora,” Guana said, glancing out the window to make sure no one else was eavesdropping. “But I suppose you two aren’t just from out of town, are you?”
"What do you mean?" Yang Ming's expression changed. There were only the three of them in the room at the moment, and even Zhu Bei was not there.
“Over the years, only one outside organization called ‘Galaxy Team’ has come to the Xicui region. Their leader is named Ma Jiamu, a very charismatic uncle. On his first day here, he took the initiative to contact us, so he naturally knows the calendar used by the Xicui people. And you two…”
“And you two,” Guana’s gaze slowly swept across Yang Ming and Chi Ri’s faces, “don’t even know what day it is today.”
Her tone wasn't aggressive; she was simply stating a fact. But it was precisely this calmness that made the air in the tent suddenly feel heavier.
Chi Ri remained silent, not because he was stunned by Guana's question, but because he was attracted by a word in her words.
Team Galaxy.
The Galaxy Team of the Era of Washing Green!
Besides reshaping the world, another important reason why Akari established Team Galactic was that his ancestors were important figures in Team Galactic during the Celestial Age.
Akari remembered his father saying that his ancestor was a strong woman who left her homeland more than 300 years ago and crossed the sea from the far east. She eventually settled in the Shizuku region. Although she did not become the leader of Team Galactic, she was one of the founders of Team Galactic and a figure who had a profound influence on the establishment of modern Sinnoh.
—So this is where it all started.
“Indeed, we are not just outsiders,” Yang Ming said, “but Miss Guana is probably quite extraordinary as well.”
"Between you and Zhubei, who is the real leader of the Pearl Team?"
